I decide an attack of the last islands from the west-most part of our continent might be faster. I wake up the Steamers within 4 turns and rush 2 dreadnoughts and 3 more steamers.
We got money and if we sink Turkish ships we may stop a settler. I build a few towns near the coast where the Turkish ships are are rush some more Dreadnoughts.
Try to steal Nubia's map - we fail but are not caught. Also made a deal for the last Luxury using a tech.
I use some of the Slackers lazing about in cities to kill some more Turks. The flame throwers, our best attack units both die pathetically. I also defend tanks in danger.
I also use a Ruler to attack 2 Arabian workers. Interestingly, the worker that 'battles' us retreats because its speed 2 and we capture the other. Is there a reason why we attack the workers rather than just capturing them? They did look different.
Also built some towns
IBT: Bombardment from sea, and from (mostly) Zepplins from Russia. Single Turkish attack that we win.
AD 1819: Tell Arabia to leave and they declare. Attacking Arabia city puts us at war with Nubia, losing the lux we got last turn.
Lose a Dreadnought to a Ironclad.
Capture Emerita losing 2 tanks agains the same defender. We get the Hagia Sophia.
Attack some units and do terrible, including loss of a Tank vs a Cavalry. We lose 4 of 5 attacks in our favor, then a second loss of a tank vs a Hussar. Even Garrison's don't help with 2 more Tank losses vs Arabian Rifles. The bombing I did helps however, and we have wins vs injured units.
Attack Einhoven and capture it without loss.
Attack Oporto without loss. We were able to build Garrisons for both these towns because they had low culture. Arabia has been at war with Portugal recently. Portugal is now an island Civ. Oporto gives us world religion Christianity.
Kill all the Arabians wandering around in our lands.
This grabs the Continental choke point at Opporto. We are at 64% land. I will likely raze the rest of Arabia.
Arabia still has 2 cities including Lisbon north of the Choke.
Despite most units being injured we do have enough healthy ones to do some attacks on the main Arabian cities.
We capture Basra with tanks and, Fustat and Medina with mostly Hotchkiss. Lost 2 hotchkiss on Fustat that had a Garrison we couldn't reach.
We still have Tanks and can only reach Lisbon with them, so we attack, losing one Tank but capture it (it has a wonder)
Also capture Lagos long enough to kill off the last (known) northern Arabian stack and then abandon Lagos as its not useful for holding the choke.
Well I just sent some random unit with a random click who knows where. I will not be able to find it.
With the new units that make it across this turn, I set up attacks for next turn by moving 1 into enemy territory and then cover with our Riflemen. They are now able to attack next turn.
We are up to 64% land area, so I abandon the cities in the Frozen North of our continent, I can't abandon the Arabian cities yet as they are needed to keep the boundaries intact. I will continue to get rid of useless areas first.
IBT: Some random coastal attacks We lost one empty steamer to a Portugal ship.
1820 AD: Use ships and a few bombers against enemy ships especially Turkish ones.
For the war we capture Anjar without loss. This will allow us to reach next turn
Lose 2 Tanks taking Kufa, Lose 2 Tanks taking the capitol Mecca as well.
Baghdad is fairly silly as we lose 4 Tanks vs 2 defenders and a Cavalry, but we take the city.
Narjan is reachable by Hotchkiss and we lose 3 taking the city.
The rest of Arabia is hard to reach. Persia may also prove to be slow as its narrow and has a desert where we can't build cities. I will attack Austria-Hungary too if I have too many Tanks to reach. In any case, I declare war on Persia
I ask them to remove their forces and they declare war. Noone likes us I guess.
Remove garrison and build a city to reach Sidon and Pasargadae. Both are captured with a few losses.
Hotchkiss don't do to well vs Bactra and lose 4. It was not heavily guarded, just bad RNG vs tough odds.
The number of Hotchkiss is low so I MM our cities to build them - specifically all the cities with 120 to 129 shields will build them in 1 turn rather than a tank in 2. Changed over one other city and the ones in the 60-64 range and 40-43 range as well.
Garrisons built for attack on Persepolis and Gordium. Attack on Persepolis goes quite well and we capture it without loss.
Gordium also falls nicely without loss.
Paulo Alto built to reach the next two cities. Capture Sardis losing a tank.
We have now reached all the Persian cities we can reach this turn with size 4 Arabela surrounded by mountains remaining.
We can now reach and Raze Antioch, the Arabian town from the other side.
The offensive Persian troops are up north in the desert. Looks like Persia was heading for war. There are some speed 2 units covered by defenders, so I decide to kill them rather than just go around them Otherwise there is a lot to defend.
Two outpost let us see all the troops.
We lose some units taking out the forces. Only a few units remain so we don't attack Austria-Hungary yet. I do use our one great artist in Lisbon to reach across the deserts with Hotchkiss next turn and build up rails to the closest points
We are over 66% land so I abandon lesser cities back to 63%. Steal Austria's world map. Fail with Korea.
Austria-Hungary has almost no roads. They must have suffered fairly massive pillaging.
IBT: Some bombardment - mostly from Russian planes and Zeplins.
1821 AD: Given how long the last turn lasted (at least 6 hours, though I may try to make this one faster), this will be my last turn.
I bombard the ships between the main continents, sinking a Persian, 2 Russian, and a Egyptian stack(s).
Aden, an Arabic town is Razed.
Persia has been building a lot of settlers, I clonk a 4th one and they have at least one boat in the water, but I try to take out the last city. Raze Arabela losing a Tank and they are still there. I reload. Hopefully that boat has a settler and we can sink it. I destroy the city nearest the boat to maybe allow it to land its settler. I also kill the Galleas covering it.
Try the same thing with the last Arabian city and they are destroyed.
For the turkish city there are 2 stacks of Russians on the squares we could land. We did bring 3 Marines, but I don't think that is enough as one stack has 3 defenders, the other has more units.
My plan is as follows:
First I grab the nearby Russian city.
Next I do naval/aerial bombardment on either the city, Russian units or both. I can build an airbase and transport other Marines to the Russian island. The Russians will be easier, but are a 2 step prospect. Finally, I can attack 1 hp units with the marines and have a good chance of winning.
It is also possible that the Russians will move or attack.
----------------------------
At this point I messed up. I attacked and took out cities and accidentally took the last Austrian one after 3 hours of play without saving. I am now back at the my last save just before the Austrian war. Since I both don't want to duplicate 3 hours of play and know what I going to happen so would play better, I am just leaving the situation for the next player. I will go and make sure important units are not fortified and pass this on.
Springfield and Olympia have healing and healed units units. I switched to the Oporto to heal because its easier to find after Persia is gone.
We still have the Edison in capitol - In 6 turns we can rush the telephone.
Units are scattered all over the lower part of the continent. You can decide if you want to collect them first or just look for them and use them as needed.
Important Notes:
I decided to remove the wetlands. Most workers on our home continent are automated to do this. They will stop in 1-3 turns when the last wetlands are cleared (Most likely it will be after 2 more turns and I don't think they have moved for this turn). We can do the same thing for the forests.
Do not take the last Austria-Hungary city. They do have a settler somewhere. Actually why don't we steal plans from Carthage and Austria-Hungary. I should have done that. I checked and it isn't expensive compared to what cash we have and knowing if there is a settler and where it is is well worth it. I think I will start doing this before I attack a civ. Often we are at war but not all the time.
I loaded up units from the main continent into an attack force for the Nubian continent near Nurenburg. The units will collect near the capitol during the auto-turn.
There are about enough Steamers to load the current batch. Take a worker for an airport Below is a picture:
