RawSasquatch/Kramer's New Civilizations

Yeah, I've been in a bit of a funk for the past month or so, slowing all my modding progress to a crawl. Fallout Civs Pack 1 is still my top priority, but I still plan to do all of the others at some point. I'm no quitter.

Glad to know you are still working on these civs, I'm really looking forward to the releases of Yucatan and Kurdistan specifically. I recall you posting somewhere that Yucatan has been mostly done for a while - is there anything we can do to help ease it's release?

Also, was a new UA decided for Bhutan, given that LastSword actually ended up using the one you intended for it?

Ladies and gentlemen, citizens and friends of the RawSasquatch (AKA Kramer) Republic, your ruler has returned! I think I'm out of that nasty 2+ month funk, and making very rapid progress on several civs! Before we can celebrate, however, there is unsettling business to be addressed. One would think that the partitions of our recently departed, dearly beloved friends named Viregel and Hiram would appease the imperialistic urges of some of the larger empires, but I've seen it have the total opposite effect, with major powers viciously fighting and gnashing over the prizes. I would like to take this time to urgently address the world, then; I am not gone, I am not soon to be gone, none of my civs, WIP or otherwise, are up for the taking, and everything you see listed in the Coming Soon section of my signature is actively being worked on in one way or another. Our beloved mod republic is mostly friendly and neutral with all world powers, and aggression against it would likely be responded to in the same manner that aggression against, say, Kuwait would be. We fear no earthly enemy, and bow to no earthly king.

But, that's enough about purely hypothetical situations of peril. Our Republic can relax and rejoice, as we ourselves are about to come into a large sum of new territories, and many great prizes...

So, let's begin by discussing the rapidly-upcoming Bhutan. I'm continuing discussion of it here instead of in the LITE thread, because it seems there may have been a bit of confusion by all parties involved. It may end up just being a collab between GPuzzle and I (the confusion beginning when I mistakenly took GPuzzle for a member of LITE, and his offer to contribute lua as an offer from LITE.) Here's the civ design as it currently stands:

Bhutan (Jigme Singye Wangchuck)
Start Bias: Hills
Capital: :c5capital: Thimphu
Unique Ability: Druk Tsendhen
20% of excess :c5happy: Happiness is converted into :c5faith: Faith, increased to 40% with the discovery of Theology. [Insert Happiness bonus here]*
Unique Unit: Dapon (Replaces Archer)
Provides a combat bonus to adjacent Ranged units, may move immediately after purchase, and never goes obsolete, unlike the Archer it replaces.
Unique Improvement: Dzong
Unlocked with Chivalry. May only be built on Hills, and not next to another Dzong. +1 :c5culture: Culture, +1 :c5faith: Faith, and 50% Defense for units stationed in the Dzong, with all of those yields doubled (including defense) if next to a Mountain.

If anyone has ANY suggestions, or more importantly, ideas for unique Decisions, don't hesitate to share them. *The Happiness bonus through the UA is yet to be decided. There are a number of ideas I have bouncing around that I brought up in the LITE thread, but here they are again for your viewing convenience and pleasure:
Spoiler :
+1 Local Happiness from Dzongs, Landmarks, and Holy Sites within 3 tiles of a city.

+1 Local Happiness from Mountains within working range of a city.

+1 Happiness from generated Great People for the duration of the Era they were generated in.

Upon declaring Friendship, Bhutan and their friend gain +1 Happiness.

The 4th isn't ideal because of Bhutan's historically bad relations with Tibet, Sikkim, and Nepal, the 3rd is kind of out of left field given that the rest of the civ has no Great Person bonuses, and the 1st may be kind of OP if Dzongs are included. There doesn't seem to be a way to eloquently word "+1 Local Happiness from Dzongs adjacent to a Mountain, Landmarks, and Holy Sites within 3 tiles of a city."

And here's some art to feast your eyes upon:

Yes, that leader icon DOES use More Wonders' Paro Taktsang icon as a background. I first asked Sukritact if he was cool with it, and he said it was fine.

Borrrinnnggg. I agree nevertheless.

Very excited for this. I am always in favor of Himalayan expansion. I am also very excited to see what happens with Kurdistan!!

I pretty much agree with this post entirely. Your return to working on civs like Bhutan can only mean good things, really looking forward to new releases including hopefully the fabled Yucatan civ, alongside Kurdistan.

I'm excited to see what you can do with Bhutan! its certainly going to be a skepticle! I favor the second part of the UA for "local happiness from mountains" its just merely a lot more simple and effective, anyways I've been curious to see what you can exactly do with Kurdistan, correct me if I'm wrong are you going to make the Kingdom of Kurdistan or the Republic of Kurdistan?

Definitely going to be more of a Republic of Kurdistan, with aspects from all periods. The Peshmerga UU is modeled after the modern forces fighting the IS right now.

And Yucatan remains... basically forgotten. I'm not bitter. Or feeling invalidated. Or anything. AND YOU'RE NOT MY REAL DAD.

Alright, I updated the OP with deets on all the WIP civs + WIP Fallout civs. I probably need a different, or at least a smaller template to show off the completed civs. Also, note that the civs, especially WIPs, are listed in alphabetical order instead of order of completion. Biafra is a long ways off, but it's still listed first.

On the Bhutan front: we crucially need ideas for Decisions. The go-to design seems to be one leader-specific, and one civ-specific. So maybe something about modernization or Gross National Happiness, and one rooted further back in Bhutanese history or culture. Maybe something about Tshechus, and the unveiling of the Thongdrel at the end of the festival. And what would the requirements and effects of a Gross National Happiness decision even be, considering there's a Happiness bonus and a bonus from Happiness in the UA?

Is there a second name that the Vermont Tavern can be called if EE is enabled? I believe there's a building called tavern with an awesome icon there too.

Well, maybe. The UB in particular is in reference to the Windsor Tavern, now known as the Old Constitution House, where the Vermont Republic's constitution was signed, and the Catamount Tavern, where Ethan Allen and his comrades came up with and founded the Green Mountain Boys. Maybe if EE is enabled, it could be renamed to an Inn or something, since Taverns often functioned as Inns and Inns often had Taverns.

Biafra yes! I've been waiting for it ever since you first made What a Time it Was since Biafra is essentially the African equivalent of supreme rebels, so I'm excited, although are you sure that you want to keep Seattle as a leader since Colonialist Legacies will use Seattle for thier Lushotoseed mod.

The wording on the Vermont UA is quite confusing: it can be, or it will be?
Also, ideas:

Decision: Start a Tsechu
Requirements: must have adopted a religion, must have at least 4 cities, may not be enacted in he medieval era.
Costs: 1 magistrate, X gold(scales with era)
Rewards: cities and citizens following your :c5faith: religion celebrate a WLtKD and provide 50% less :c5unhappy: unhappiness from them* for 15 turns (at standard).

Decision: Paint Thongdrel
Requirements: at least one city must be celebrating WLtKD, must have built at least 5 Dzongs. may only be enacted once per game.
Costs: 2 magistrates.
Rewards: Dzongs yield +1 :c5faith: faith. During WLtKDs, Dzongs and all defensive buildings yield +1 :c5culture: culture.

Anything in our Mods - code, art, Pedias can be used in other Mods. We're more than happy to share Seattle with Cascadia.
