RB26 - Rabid Dog

Liquidated only played one turn as far as I can tell, or at least has not yet posted the report and the save.

preturn: ok well switched to freemarket and emance came out at +299 gold a turn 90% cash 10% culture. not bad.
[1]1814 AD well reduce lyons to 0% and the suicide pults go in, both live by running away!!!! wowowow. the odds are with me so lets see how much damage I can do.

Leadoff gren has 71% odds and wins.
next has 53% odds and wins? wow.
next off wins yet again at 70ish odds was a gren on defense I missed in the clutter (smoke!).
and the next gren takes out the long bow???? what? wow long bow had better odds than the rifles? did not factor that into the picture.

I stop there since there's no point sacrificing the stack defense

Fortune favors the bold?

3 rifles remain in lyons and ran out of grens to attack. medic machine gun is in rheims 2 turns away sigh start it moving.

turn research to 40% and +88 gold a turn military tradition in 6 turns.

[2]1816 AD paris builds the heroic epic and start a three turn temple to build up culture a wee bit faster to fend off the Americans.

french have 3 healed rifles left in lyons but not a one left got exp from those suicide pults, so no new promotions. No point attacking this turn as reinforcements just landed for a canon, 2 rifles, the medic MG and cat fresh up for sacrifice.

[3]1818 ADSally declares war!!!!!!!!

on monty then takes a town right off the bat. good thing we got friendly with monty before he got slammed!

well nappy part 2 saving rheims from lyons culture!! as rheims just came out of revolt and owns one square in its' home row.

rb26-1832rheimswithdrowning.jpg

two suicide cannons go in and die... lame collateral so send in the least broken grens, combat 4! for 40% odds and takes out the lead rifle!!! what a man

inviso new gren has 95% odds and never see him take out the 2nd rifle... no idea where he was as rifles were dying from out of nowhere... stealth bombers 1818 style!

a gren with 88% odds loses... was waiting for that! got it down to 1.8 health tho so here we go!!!!
rb26-1832lyonsend.jpg

3 free workers incoming (like we need more)

total loses 2 cannons as sacrifice, one gren as fluke to make up for first round luck.

razed and no negative diplo hit! party!!!

France has left the building.

settler is on blue dot will start town next turn. rheims can breathe easy now but will keep pumping out culture one turn just to pop borders to phat cross. same deal with 10% culture.

[4]1820 AD
Monty asks for fish I say sod off, he's annoyed! lol wow so fast.
rheims gets its fat cross yay
a great scientist is born yet again in harappan... 1800 beakers towards scientific which we'll need sooner rather than later. I save him for just that... or a golden age.

I build Reason at blue dot (named without Rheim or Reason I suppose) start on a light house need to get hinduism on these island cities.

[5]1822 AD snooze but running 60% science/40% for +50ish gold a turn. for now building up defensive machineguns as we has an angry monty nearby.

[6]1824 AD
Military tradition comes in and we are firmly in the narrow part of the tree...
combustion 8
corporation 3
Divine 4
and Scientific in 4

I go combustion in 8 as we need it to access oil adn well corp obsoletes great lighthouse and scientific obsoletes great library, both wonders we own.

Najran is taken out by the arabs.... wow. monty is down to two towns. The troops from france are healing up in Orleans
I conjure up a cav unit by upgrading a chariot... look mom, no horses!

[7]1826 AD huh guess nothing happened

[8]1830 AD
Reason hits fat cross yay!
massing troops on monty's borders but not a whole lot of offense in one place.

[9]1832 AD
sigh ok sally asks up nicely to start a war with monty, I just amassed enough troops on monty's border to do some serious damage to a stack of rifles. that and I have machine guns at the borders to stall any counter attack he can muster so I take it.

rb26-1832sallythatgirl.jpg

so a lone monty rifle is at his horses, 88% odds with the combat 4 gren and he loses... sigh- fate from that low % win I guess. mop up from the rear.
Monty is sporting some stuff including one cav in teo whatever, will take out his horses next turn.

he's got a few troops to the north tho!!
rb26-1832montynorth.jpg

[10]1834 AD
well I didn;t nuke monty's horses on account they are now our horses from culture pressure. neat well we can make cav now~!

no counter attack from monty other than a cat taking out a wayward worker... oh noes!!! one less unit to find work for! and one less unit defending teowhatever.

teo goes from 60% to 18% culture from our rag tag collection of cats and cannon (sounds like a board game)

rb26-1832montyahoy.jpg

have forces spread over 3 locations since the AI is much smarter on using seige for counter attack in warlords and I was forgetful this wasn;t warlords lol.

3 rifles 2 cats as defenders but see no reason to pull the trigger prematurely. 5 grens will be ready to attack next turn and def will go to 0% np

Sally really beat monty over the head with a wet fish looks like as northern unpronouncable town is devoid of a ton of units that were there a bit ago.

rheim will complete it's granery/lighthouse combo next turn and I queued up 2 fishing boats for Reason as it's the fastest way to get reason going.

we have -7 relations from sally sucking up to monty... total is +5 right now and longer the aztecs live the longer we can get mutual struggle bonuses

Good news is tho Roosevelt is already friendly without really trying. so sucking up to sally is all we need to do now.

rb26-1834relations.jpg

I have a ton of screens to cull crop cut and paste etc maybe with some neato photoshop fun. Problem is, work in 5 hours and no sleep yet... would be asleep but been holding up this sg too long as is. (omitting beaten smilie as I might just have 10 screens) I'll post the one that really matters tho.

Cheers!

Sorry for the delay. Finals week has kept me busy. Turns played!

I pressed enter and Saladin took Tenochitlen immedietely. This wasnt the best thing as I wanted to keep this war hanging for a bit and pile up some MMS modifiers with Saladin. Anyways, seeing no reason to hold off on Teotihucan and letting Saladin pillage the tiles around it, I captured it on the same turn.

And with that Monty is gone. I asked saladin for his 200 gold and sold music to Roosevelt for his 850 + gold. Combustion was researched in 1838, after which I decided to go infantry route through Corporation. I captured Teohitucan quickly because I didnt want Saladin to pillage, but ofcourse I had other things in mind

Ho Ho Ho. Anyways, the rest of my turns were spent building up military to go after Roosevelt. Our army is pretty much ready and ill let the next player decide which units to send where. Most of our army is in Paris and ive brought back our ships to Roosevelts side incase he launches a naval attack.

Save:

looking over the save there's like 6 *more* workers sleeping in teowhatever and an additional 2 more asleep in Orleans. Might as well wake them up and spam rails to the war front. That's really Montezuma's revenge, choke them with workers!

Cheers!

I rushed this turnset, so I made quite a few silly mistakes.

On the war front, I decided to work along the coast, then work inwards. However, everytime I capture or raze a city, it seems like Roosevelt builds another one somewhere :crazyeye:

I captured Boston and Seattle. Seattle just built Versailles for us a turn earlier.

I razed two new cities that Roosevelt founded. One northwest of Paris, and the other in between Rheims and Reason.

Assembly Line and Scientific Method have come in. We have a lot of oil sources, 5 to be exact. I only hooked up one, as the other four are in inconvenient locations.

I'll try to get some pictures up, but I'm in a rush to go, and my photobucket seems to be running slowly.

Got it and will play whack a mole with Roosy this morning.

EDIT: Played it and, in summary, we've taken two more cities from Roosy, but Sally is still only pleased (+1 during my turns) and won't be bribed into war. Had some rubbish luck, so our casualaties have been quite heavy: on the last inter-turn Roosy's Cav attacked my forest dwelling, fortified Infantry and, despite 0.6% win-chance inflicted huge damage, allowing a rifle to mop up. Grrrrrrrrrrrr. We might take this as a sign to make peace (WW is terrible).

Full report later. Over to Blake.

Inherited Turn - Move and upgrade a whole bunch of troops. Leave research on 0%. Some micro for Jails and tile swapping to control impact of WW (would be the theme of city management in my turns).

Turn 1 - Seattle attacked IBT by a rifle, which is defeated. Decide to get the troops together to take out Washington.

Turn 2 - Pillage Roosy's copper, attack Portland but lose at 78% win odds.

Turn 3 - Revolt in Boston: this is good as it was way to angry anyway.

Turn 4 - Sink a Frigate and a Galleon (containing 1 Gren) off Rheims. Last ships I saw in my set. Pillage the Iron outside Seattle. No metal for America. Troops arrive at DC.
civ4screenshot0225nd2.jpg

Turn 5 - Bomb Washington defenceless. Notice the GS in Besh: micro Paris to produce a GP next turn.

Turn 6 - Attack! Heavy losses, but DC and the Angkor Wat are ours:
civ4screenshot0227gh4.jpg

Start a Golden Age.

Turn 7 - moves and micro.

Turn 8 - Take Portland, losing 1 infantry, but we so need those Dyes:
civ4screenshot0230oh8.jpg

Turn 9 - moves and micro.

Turn 10 - Bad luck in IBT (see previous post). Micro and move for possible assault on Atlanta (with Philly's garrison for good measure).
garrisons2iu4.jpg

As I see it, we can press on and take Atlanta, or make peace now. Either way we need to tech for a bit as Sal has Artillery; maybe we can bribe Sally into war in a dozens turns or so, then dogpile Roosy for MMS with the Arab. Our Civics bonus with Sal seems stuck on +2 and I don't recall ever getting more than +7 shared religion with him either.

Blake, Liquidated or dsplaisted, whoever is there should take the save. Lets finish this game, its almost over anyways.

Well first thing I do is look at relations with sally since he's out last variant based challenge.

Right now we have a whopping +14-4 = +10 relations with sally, getting a super nice +7 for simply having his prefered religion. Since my last screen I see we knocked off the -3 'refused to help during war time' penalty which is the difference between actively having to curry sally favor and just letting him go friendly automatically. since we only have +1 under trade, a few gifts will get us friendly when it's time.

seems FDR dropped off a mini stack off harrapan and the defenders we have there are a chariot and an archer... yes I can shuffle some infantry to the area. My main concern is to take out that cav unit as it can move and pillage a village or threten any several of our back towns. one of the new infantry promotes attack 3 and does just that.. takes out the cav... barely... ug. also take out the rifle so all that's left are 4 bottled in canon I can exp off of in leisure.

Atlanta is sparely defended, so I'll go for it.

all 4 cannon at harrapin bombard harapan so I take off 2 more. The next turn they take out our chariot and archer for us to lower upkeep. ROFL

FDR was smart enough to attack our stack with a canon for some pretty nice damage. Nothing to be worried about so get defense down to 6% and will take it next turn.

when physics comes and I discover 2 uranium in our areas. One of them is underneath reason lol while the other is under a fully grown town next to crapper. A 3rd is next to altanta btw which we'll own soon enough.

So Electricity by the end of my turnset.

lead off atlanta with 2 suicide canon and take out the rest of the garrison without loss, giving the kill to the medic unit. I keep atlanta if only for the mature town to pay for it. has a harbor, dry dock, Forge, market, and grocer... a nice mature city.

I exp a few more units on that stack of cannon and then sue for peace getting 2 gold a turn divine right (uh nice?), his map and made him switch to civics for giggles. =) Seattle has it's tundra bound fat cross now. Drop culture and move science up to 70%. Electricity in 6 turns now with 2 turns on golden age...

hot dog we have copper now!!!! hehe. Get our capitol started on pentagon in 12 (golden age time) and Paris on statue of liberty. Also load up a worker to shuttle off to reason and reims.

When golden age ends we drop to 60% sciends with a healthy +33 gold a turn. WE have a really strong economy. 5 turns left and I will finish electricity... the army is sitting healing in atlanta, since there will be 5 turns to shuffle units about and rails are everywhere I'll leave military for next up. Oh and getting some transports going as well as that's the best way to hit washington.

lots of boring hit next turn with some fun tossed in moving that army of workers.

in 1910 electricity finishes and I plunk down industrialism in... 11 turns at 65% research (yah I know there's no 65% explicitly) should have tanks started in 10. Can you smell the tanks cooking?

btw keep in mind the closest path to washington is south from crapper and harrapun in the south.. no polar icecap there so clear sailing.

soooooo

took atlanta, beefed up our backyard troops and deleted most outdated to save some 20 gold a turn.
only military I built for offence were 3 or so transports to bop around washington who has peace for another 4 or 5 turns. There are rails EVERYWHERE now so I paired workers up and placed them around the north. Secured uranium by default from reason... no need to pave over a forest.

Our 'massed' infantry are in Atlanta!!!!!!!! all 6 of them...

6ish turns of infrastructure build really helped our economy once WW poofed. Was a fantastic time for a golden age btw.

best news is... sally is friendly so can stop trying to suck up to him. Keep his effing religion for the easy +7 though !

have a few boring screens but really no time as it's 3 am already and wasn;t expecting to play now. for now, the important screen..

uh never mind photobucket is misbehaving and no time to baby sit it.

Sally is friendly yo!

Cheers!
-Liq

I seem to have a knack for snoozing my turnset into the next friendly relations target!

With sally friendly we are golden. Once we hit industrialism a turnset of tanks and backing infantry will steamroll sally.

Cheers!
