Re-Upload Requests

Can be found easily by the CFC search tool: https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/napoleon-i-of-france.267135/
The graphics (and tons of other leaderhead graphics, including a different one-era Napoleon) can be found in the mod CCM 3, too.

Here is the other one-era Napoleon in CCM 3, created neither by Shiro nor Rob (by ccm01 ?):

Yeah, I found it but the download links are broken.

And hoo boy, that other one is... uh... very not what I'm looking for.

Most likely those predate the Downloads Database, which dates from 2006, after Civ IV's release. While some items from before that time are in the Downloads Database (either uploaded by their original author or by someone else later on), many are not. But their original threads should still be in the forums. Whether the attachments for the items still work is a case-by-case question - generally they should if they were uploaded to CFC (except for a gap in the 2007 - 2008 range), but it's unlikely if they were uploaded to third-party sites, due to bit rot over 20 years on the Internet.

As for Goldflash's Altered Tech Tree Mod? I found it. Download still works too. Only catch is that it's a .ace file, which hardly anything supports these days. PeaZip supports it with an optional plugin, as described here, and perhaps you still have an old copy of WinAce? I think I do from my archival work a couple of years ago, on my desktop - if so I can re-package it to a more modern format, and perhaps add WinAce to the Utilities section as the only sites I see it now are filled with faux download buttons if viewed without an ad blocker, and thus I cannot in good conscious link to them as the rate of clicking a bad download button rather than the real one is very high.

I may be able to help locate some of the others as well, once I find some dinner. Uploading them to the database when you find them is also acceptable, with a link to the original thread, and I can reassign them to their original authors. The main reason it hasn't been done is that it is a lot of work to add five years' worth of pre-Downloads Database items to the database, especially since there was a lot created during that time. But who is GATTM? Either I'm forgetting the acronym of that was before my time.

Okay, clearly there's a trick to get the old links to work that I don't know, because when I click it I just get nothing.

Sometimes it'll still stop even if you add an S so I usually right click and open the old http links in a new window (instead of tab) and then hit refresh and it then seems to work.
Clever, thanks!

Got back into Civ III, looking for a mod I played... two or three computers ago?

It was one of the dozens of TETurkhan Test of Time mods, with modern civilizations and cities all in their real world locations.

Am I totally misremembering the existence of an early 19th century side paddle wheel civilian transport (NOT the cute little alaskan gold rush stern wheeler by Delta Strife)? Am I just conflating that with sidewheel warships?

I know about two of them:

The first one is the SS Great Eastern created by Delta_Strife: https://forums.civfanatics.com/resources/ss-great-eastern.24319/

I don´t know the name and creator of the second one. It was created as a warship, but without the attack animation in my eyes it is a very well suited civilian transport and is used in CCM 3 with the name "Paddle Steamer". Here is the run animation of that unit:

That's the one! Looks like it might be a Wyrmshadow or vinegar joe joint. Now I gotta see if i can find the thing.

Okay, Found it. It is indeed a Wyrmshadow. He called it the Paddlewheel Ironclad and it is apparently based on the Scottish civilian steamer Waverly.

Okay, this is a bit of a long shot, but does anyone have the Buildings Large from the firsdt download in this thread? My copy of the gimp refuses to open it.

Right, that just links to the thread with the broken file.
I see. Attached is a zip-file with the Tomb and an Industrial War Memorial file I made for CCM 3 and a Modern War Memorial file, that looks somewhat similar (from SOE).

Just to be sure we're talking about the same thing, you mean the "buildings-large.pcx" within the "unknowntomb1.zip" from this post?

I hate to be the bearer of good news, but it's opening as expected for me in my just-installed copy of GIMP 2.10.38 on Windows (as well as my already-installed copy of IrfanView). Are the other PCX files working for you but not that one in particular?

It should look something like this:

I can also confirm that the latter two match up very closely (perhaps exactly) with the two war memorial PCXs in the file Civinator posted.

Yeah, that's the one. My copy of the Gimp will not open it, gives me an error about a paint shop pro plugin not working and only for this file. I haven't had a chance to get back to my computer since I was at my parents for the holidays but I expect what Civinator posted will work just fine.

Interesting. I looked in my plugin folders and found none in my C:\Users\...\GIMP\2.10\plugins folder, but 133 in the C:\Software\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins folder (where it's installed to). I don't recognize any as being related to Paint Shop Pro, but it's possible that one of those plugins is being used to open the image. I don't suppose it gives a more specific name of the plugin it's missing?

Thanks you two!

I do need to update the gimp, as it's slightly out of date, but it strikes me odd that this 22 year old .pcx won't work for me when scads of other 22 year old pcxs do 🤷‍♂️
