Sorry "Age of Heat". Same tale though, minor difference.

Just noticed something, since I'm no where near the ocean can I convert my navy into river navy?

Am I allowed to do my earlier idea for a nation?

If so:

History: When disaster struck the Earth many of the intelligent people fled the city to the outside areas to attempt to farm the land they once ignored. As time went on the less intelligent realized that they couldn't live in the cities any more so they fled too. But when they got out there was no more land so they worked for those that did. As the devolution of man continued these land owners became feudal lords. Stories spread of the horrors of the great city they fled , the black river which nothing lived, the demons and other evils in a place called Over the Rhine, and the curse of the "Sports teams". So for years they avoided it, but one day a curious boy wandered in to it. He saw towers of stone, the ground was even stone like that of the feudal lords palaces, there were no demons, even the river had become clean. He then saw to large buildings the likes he had never seen before. They were huge, circular, and had Big letters on them. One said "Bengals" the other "Reds", he instantly saw them as great temples. He ran back to his feudal lord to tell him what he saw. Eventually the word spread and all the lords showed up and began to move into the city. Taking it for new palaces, training grounds, docks, everything you could think of. Bengal and Red permitting they were ready to reclaim their birth right.

The trouble with that backstory is that if this is set 7 centuries after the major cities were abandoned with no maintainence, they would have been completely reclaimed by nature (with no sign of the roads and all of the buildings having completely collapsed) long since... Indeed, they'd be almost completely gone after 2 or 3 centuries unless the city was in an incredibly dry area... None the less though, after 700 years there would be practically nothing left of our civilization... nothing... save for a few of our massive stone monoliths like Hoover Dam, Mt. Rushmore, parts of the Great Wall of China and the Great Pyramids (though these may eventually wind up buried under wind-driven desert sands)...

Don't believe me? Check it out...

Even if the child did find something, he would not find an intact city, or anything even remotely resembling an intact city... No, hw would find a river, more grass and more trees, and perhaps a few scattered (but buried) ruins...

History: Bourne from the banks of the Wakiswa, the Singordians make use of the land and the sea. A nation kept united by a devout religous belief that they are the true decendants from Yaksmesh, the creater of all. Their Leader, Wakisa Snord is a military leader, pulling forces together to drive away rival tribes and protect the valuable riverine lands. Wakisa knows that if he can provide stability and food his people will be happy, if he has to wade through the bodies of his slain enemys to achieve this goal, he is more than prepared for it.

Well yes of course nature would of reclaimed most of it. But look at the ancient temples we study now, while nature has "taken over" most of them we can still tell it was a building and it's still there. I'm sure that all the skyscrapers would look like towers of green (at least the ones still standing). I figured this would add to the impressiveness of the city since to the people the entire city would look like one entire garden palace. Plus I'm not going for entire realism, since this is a game.

Also in the OP it states that it was in 2100 when everything went haywire. Who knows what type of tech they would have. Perhaps they developed maintenance droids to maintain the city until they ran out of power which could give a few hundred more years. Perhaps we improved building techniques. That show was based off of the premise that we disappear today not in a hundred years. Anything could of happened during that time.

We would not have built buildings that are designed to stand for 700 years without any maintennance. There is no point and the cost would have been very prohibitive.
Not a single scyscraper will still be standing.
Also, if we had made "maintennance bots" why would they still be working now? Infinte power sources? Uncorruptable chipboards, indestructable gearboxes and engines?

Also, a plant can raise water only so high by osmotic potential alone..

Finally.. a gift:

I didn't say they would still be working. I assume we may of develop hydrogen fuel cells by that time and if they were refined enough and enough of them were stored the droids could perhaps function for a few centuries preventing a total collapse of the city.

Keep in mind this is just mind this is just so my story makes sense. I doubt it'll actual work just use your willing suspension of disbelief so we don't end up arguing for the entire game.

few centurys yes.. but 700 years?

Nevermind tho, I'll leave this up to the mods disgression.

@abaddon: Oh! pretty! thanks alot...

My take on the whole "what would be left" thing is that none of the huge buildgins would be left, but it would still be obvious that there had onec been a city. (rusted metal girders, etc...) Ièm going to take merciary's suggestion, and say that maintenance robots had been developed, and only died off a few centuries ago... (Spoiler: some buildings are going to have small powerplants of thier own, and still functioning AIs...)

Update 0

The Thor Sentient Space Weapon floated on it's lazy trek across through the zenith. It had been a long time since it had last received instructions from the Pentagon (or one of it's other locations, after the water had risen.) Many rotations of the earth had gone by, and one by one, the voices of the surface defense AI's had gone silent. the chatter on the American Military network, one of the modern wonders (at least to Thor) had gotten sparser and sparser, until only a few lonely voices called out, Thor's Among them...

AIs are not just machines, and over time, the information coming from the other Space Platforms was depressing. Even AIs can feel depressed, though thier Huge intelligence is enough to keep them from ending thier existance.

To alleviate the Depression and Boredom, Thor turned towards the Earth, and gazed downwards.

Despite all appearences, Humans had not been extinguished. Though with barely legend of thier Ancient Glory, they were rebuilding, learning lost knowledge, and conquering.

Various Empires had settled in the southern part of North America, some founded on relgious ideals, others on barbarism and Piracy...

Thor could only hope that one day, they would come back into space, and speak to him again.

Tech: Agriculture: though small scale agriculture had gone on during the dark times, with some of the resistante strains of wheat, only after large scale subsitance farming was developed could empires sustain growth, buraucracies, and standing armies. (prerequisite for all future techs)(4 tech points)

So is this like the presquisite for all other techs?

EDIT: AAAAAGH! THE MAP! Please! Mercy upon the ones with bad internet!

EDIT 2: What do the resources do?

(Bris, Copy this to your post with techs and wars)

Gold: Yellow Square
Iron: Grey Square
Old Ruins: Grey Area
Grapes: Pinkish purple Circles
Apples: Red Squares
Wood: Brown Circles
Cotton: Grey Circles
Bamboo: Light Green Circles
Horses: Brown Squares
Cattle: Dirty Green Circles

@mythmonster: Yes, without agriculture, it's harder to have people freee to develope new technologies.

The Council of the Myamevalle Lords agreed to meet in the ruins of one of the ancient "temples". It was once a great circle with steps leading to the top going up halfway, then stopping halfway and starting again on the next level. At the top great metal beams stick out like fingers reaching to the sky, now with each of the lords banners on them.

"My they sure could build back then now couldn't they?" Spoke Lord Jones, a collector of what artifacts he could find and a seeker of knowledge. "Of course it didn't last when the Disaster."

"Don't speak of such blasphemy in such a holy place" sputtered Lord James, a old religious fanatic of the Bengal. "We all know the world fell to ruin after the Bengal and Red took their chosen and sent a curse to us who were unfit."

"Can we please not argue and just talk about what we came here for." Interjected Lord Henry, a connoisseur of life's luxuries. "I don't want to be late for my soak or it won't be hot."

"Errmmm.... Yes well, lets get this started." said Lord Smith ,the head of this Council. "Now what should we do in the coming days/months/years (how ever long an update is)...."

(Also could I have my navy changed to river navy)
