Regarding missing units.

Hi guys, I know that some people have expressed fears that certain units will be missing from the game (like the aegis cruiser for instance). This belief has been based on the number of units seen in the editor screens (85) vs the claim of there only being 85 units in the game (from the pre-release thread).
However, if you check this link: http://www.2kgames.com/civ4/compare_features.htm

you can see that there are actually EIGHTY NINE units in the game-a difference of 4 units (assuming that the animals are also counted as UNITS).

So, anyone care to speculate as to which units-that seemed to be missing-might have actually made it into the final game?

Yours,

I prefer to think that there are 4 mystery units out there in hiding. It makes getting the game and seeing them first hand that much more worthwhile. Almost like in Warcraft III -- finding those "special" units (Space Orcs, Hydralisks, and Zerglings, oh my!).

Well, that 85 units was including the animals (bears, lions and wolves), and I believe the elephant was probably the ivory luxury. It is possible that the official site is in error, but it is equally likely that the editor screen we saw was from an older build BEFORE all the units were put in. I am just asking: if the latter is correct, what do you think the missing units might be?

No matter, still there will be useless units such as chariots, cuz you research/trade Horseback riding so fast that chariots can't even appear. Same with ironclad - useless research sadly(, cuz more powerful ships arrived after several turns. Hope CivIV will make all units useful.

Lions, tigers, and bears.

Wait, you need one more? Oh my!

Lions, tigers, bears and jaguars. Each of them have a different "strength" which if i'm not mistaken lions are the weakest and jaguars the strongest.

Don't forget wolves.

I would hope for more naval units. There should be a war galley and a transport. I would also like to see two different pirvateers. I think an early seige weapon is a must. The treb pictured was like 9th century. That means no seige for the ancient time.

I think it's either lions, bears, and wolves i know for sure. Check the pre-release info, it has the other 1. The wolves are the lowest with 0.5 strength (asks the question can their be a unit with 1.5, 2.5, 3.5, etc. strength). Just wondering, is are there 26 regicide style king units, or will that most likely come with the first expansion like for Civ3?

I would think Lion/jaguar are for warm regions and bear/wolf on colder regions. Lion and bear are stronger 1 str and jaguar/wolf 0,5str. Not 100% sure, but that would make sense :)

CIV3 only have 36 units? Man, it seemed like a LOT more than that. Now I have 80-something to play with! As long as they keep the paratroopers, I'm happy >:)

Actually Civ 3 (w/ PTW and Conquests expansion) had 91 units. (including UU's)
