Civ 5 Gods & Kings Is coming out with Religion. Adding Religion. Faith is whats Questioning me. 10 Tiles Away from the Holy? No No! The Holy City Should be Able to Spread Religion all over the Content. Being A Samurai i see no reason to be able to spread Shinto only ten tiles away.
For example, I'm playing as England and I found Christianity in London. Hastings is less than 10 tiles away, so it starts to convert. Nottingham is more than 10 tiles away from London, but less than 10 tiles from Hastings, so how it converts depends on Hastings. And so on and so forth.
This way the religion spreads naturally rather than spreading everywhere at once.
Arioch I see Missionaries lead to Death if seen by a barbarian so thats a problem being waste of Hammers so i've noticed that we probably meens we can Re-Capture them!
yeah this ones easy. In 4 your religion spread along roads. In 5 it spreads up to 10 tiles away which is actually a pretty large range if you think about it. If nothing is within 10 tiles then you use missionaries to manually spread your religion.
Missionaries have 2 "Spread Religion" usages. Great Prophets have 4 and knock out competing religions in a city. So presumably you could use a Great Prophet on 3 cities then use it for something else like filling in your last 2 Beliefs or making a Holy Site (thus speeding up the arrival of your next Great Prophet).
Well, a religion generates "pressure" with a range of 10 tiles... spreading is not automatic, but has to overcome any other religious pressure that may exist at that location in order to convert citizens. So unless there's another spreading mechanism that we don't know about, then this does mean you'll have to use Missionaries to spread a religion to a city farther than 10 tiles. It's not clear whether normal religious pressure will convert citizens already following another religion (or only "pagan" citizens), so it's possible that Missionaries may be required to spread your religion to a city that already has an established religion.
But as Bisqit mentions, 10 tiles is a pretty long distance, especially with the way the AI packs its cities together.
I've always assumed that any city following a specific Religion will exert that religious pressure on any city within 10 squares. Is that not the case? The OP makes it seem as though only the Holy City exerts that pressure.

My understanding is that any citizen following a religion will exert some pressure, both to other citizens in the same city and outside the city to a range of 10 tiles. The more citizens following the religion, the more pressure. The reason I say this is that the tooltip for the religion symbol on the City Bar shows Pressure listed next to the number of citizens that follows a particular religion (or pantheon). It might be that the Holy City exerts more pressure than a normal city (and it would be nice if there was some special significance to the Holy City beyond losing your Founder belief if you don't hold that city), but I haven't seen any evidence to support that as yet.
The size of cities doesn't scale with the size of the world, so I don't see any reason for the 10-hex pressure limit to scale.
To be perfectly honest, number of religions is good enough to balance the "10-hex" pressure, because there is more religion existing and exterting pressure.

First of all, ever heard of an escort? It's something you should do with Settlers. You don't just let them roam freely in the plains. You have a unit backing the up until they reach the destination, SAME with Missionaries.
I wonder if they should make another way to get a religion. I would probably get all of liberty and get a great Prophet to get my religion every game. I could make a mod that makes Faith religion founding. You can spend some faith to get a Founder. Punishment would be the death of a citizen and they would become a Monk. Finally the monk will find it in the city it once was a citizen of making that city a holy.
That's possible.... but only on pure luck.. which I think the good news, you gotta remember, the number of religions is half of the playable civs (6 religions with 12 civs). And by the time you finis Liberty, all 6 religions could be all founded)
i am a master at early game culture i once got all of honor in 50 turns!! and Liberty would be even faster with the culture boost just for adopting it! and my computers pritty crappy. I got it 5 years ago and probably getting a new one in a month. i would have at least a chance of getting the forth religion out there i would probably adopt non European ones like Christianity.
