Why would you want to do that? To remove trade routes to stop the AI's religion spreading to your cities maybe? Or to stop allies using moving through your teritory as quickly?
If you want to build cheap units you can pillage the road leading to iron/copper (assuming the roads are not in your cultural boundaries). That will allow the cities not connected to iron/copper to build warriors for cheap garrison units. But normally I wouldn't want to do that.
Well yeah. Warriors upgrade to Axemen and Spearmen. Once you have either of those resources you'll never see a Warrior in your city screen, unless the city is not connected.
Step 1: Declare war on a nation you can't possible defend yourself against
Step 2: Watch as they dismantle your empire city by city
Step 3: Go take a nap
well, suppose you have taken over a enemy city but choose to disband it. Then there will be roads in your cultural boundries. Sometimes you might want to remove those roads as it might not be a good idea to leave around, in case the area is taken back by enemy forces. I would like to do some cleanup and reduce the possibility of those roads falling into the wrong hands again.
I don't think it is possible. You can only pillage a road in enemy boundries and not your own, am I right?
