Requirements for giant maps?

I like your Map :)
But I get some strange INI Erros while playing... they dont do anything, but they "block" my news-box permanently. It says "BugOpions - failed writing INI file: 'C:\Spiele\Beyond the Sword\mods\Caveman2Cosmos\Usersettings\ and then "Autolog.ini" or "DiplomacySetting.ini" and so on...

any idea how to fix that?

Try running the game as administrator, and make sure that admins have all rights for your Spiele folder.
I always think installing the game on C Drive is a bit iffy, in fact I have a separate partition for all my games. If you can, and running as admin doesn't work, try reinstalling teh game from scratch and placing it on a different drive.

Cheers

An alternative to what BlueGenie said is to change the access rights to the BtS folder and its subfolders and give your normal user the right to write there.

ok thx, running as admin worked :)

but now, after several days of playing, i got another Problem... originally i installed the game in german, but set the language to english to play this mod. 2 Times it set automatically back on german, but i was able to switch back to english and play. but now, if i change it to english and load the mod, its still on german (you cant read anything, nor you cant change language even if you know where it is...)

Is there an easy way to trick the game, saying that the english version of the mod would be the german version, too?

Anything I can do to prevent crashing on larger maps (huge or bigger, around 20civs)? My games are getting unplayable somewhere around industrial or modern era due to screen freezes and the game going unresponsive. So are there any measures or settings like lowering the maximum amount of civs that would help? I've got Win7 64, 8G RAM, i5, GeForce GTX550Ti.

If it's freezes (that eventually release) rather than outright crashes post a save game - it can probably be fixed given a game to analyse.

View attachment 314942 (v20)- My current game where random freezes have happened for a while. Now the save freezes every time when I skip to the next turn (freeze eventually released). Crashes to the desktop only happen if I'm scrolling the map.

I'll look at it when I finish the performance work I am doin for someone else with a similar issue, which we pinned down to certain automations, and AI activities. Most likely yours is another example of the same thing (or closely realted). The map scrolling crashes are fixed in v21 BTW (with default settings anyway - they are related to some building art that we still have no identified speicfically, but in v21 by default city art only displays a subset of buildings and that cured it)
