Research Reminder - Reminds you to switch research of unboosted techs and civics at the halfway point

Research Reminder is a simple quality-of-life mod that prevents you from wasting precious science and culture. It reminds you to switch research of unboosted techs and civics by popping up the Research or Civics panels when you reach the halfway point (or 40% for China).

The mod will not trigger for techs and civics that have already been boosted, or for techs and civics that cannot be boosted, i.e. Pottery, Mining, Animal Husbandry, Code of Laws, and Future Tech. ...

Hi,

not bad mod ;) what missing for it's perfection is that if you play with auto end turn enabled, this mod will not disable it to make change if any. Logic would be - 1 round prior to reaching non boost level it should disable auto end so when it's exactly on half research you are stopped.

In-game options added

Two options have been added to Research Reminder. Click the menu icon in the upper RIGHT corner of the "World Tracker" (the panel which displays the current tech and civic being researched) to find them.
  • Popup entire tech/civics tree. By default, Research Reminder will remind you to switch research of the current tech or civic by popping up the left sidebar. Check this option to popup the entire tree instead.
  • Remind one turn before 50%. By default, Research...

It took a while for me to get around to do it, but I hope you find that "perfection" has been attained now. :)
 
Is there a way to make this work with custom Eureka and Inspiration values? For example I've modded all mine down to 25% (35% for China) and would like something for a reminder for it.

Sure. Just edit "Research Reminder.lua", lines 76 and 78 where the boostCutoff variable is set. Current values are 0.4 for China, 0.5 for everyone else. Change those to 0.65 and 0.75 and you should be all set.

Thanks! Playing on longer game speeds and I tend to forget way too often to switch off.
 
This mod does not appear to work in hotseat. I haven't checked other multiplayer formats. Fantastic mod for single-player, of course =)
 
I have made some updates to this mod including:
Support multiplayer.
Handle civics that cannot boost.
Only remind once per tech/civic.

Feel free to use it if you like it.

This mod was very useful, but now I am not able to see it in the mod list in the game. How can I manually update it to make it works with R&F? (I already manually modified the trigger for the eurekas)
