Research Reminder is a simple quality-of-life mod that prevents you from wasting precious science and culture. It reminds you to switch research of unboosted techs and civics by popping up the Research or Civics side panels when you reach the halfway point (or 40% for China).

The mod will not trigger for techs and civics that have already been boosted, or for techs and civics that cannot be boosted, i.e. Pottery, Mining, Animal Husbandry, Code of Laws, and Future Tech.

Installation
Just unzip into the mod folder, i.e. make everything look like this:
\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VI\Mods\Research Reminder\[3 files]

Don't forget to restart Civilization and then enable the mod in the main menu under Additional Content. The mod will be active when you start a new game (it won't work for games that were started without the mod).

In-game options
Two options have been added to Research Reminder. Click the menu icon in the upper RIGHT corner of the "World Tracker" (the panel which displays the current tech and civic being researched) to find them. See screenshot below.
  • Popup entire tech/civics tree. By default, Research Reminder will remind you to switch research of the current tech or civic by popping up the left sidebar. Check this option to popup the entire tree instead.
  • Remind one turn before 50%. By default, Research Reminder pops up the sidebar JUST AFTER half of the current tech or civic has been researched (or 40% for China). This means that the tech/civic will be completed immediately when the eureka or inspiration occurs later. However, this will waste a small amount of research (on average half a turn worth). Check this option to pop up the sidebar ONE TURN BEFORE the halfway point. This will ensure that no research is wasted. However, you must manually return to finish the last turn of research later.
The option settings will persist when you save and reload a game, but will reset to defaults (both unchecked) when you start a new game. (But default settings are easily changed by editing two lines in Research Reminder.lua, see comments in that file.)

Compatibility
Research Reminder doesn't replace or change any existing files or settings, so it should be compatible with pretty much any other mod.

Permission to reuse
I'm releasing Research Reminder as a mod component, so feel free to use it in any other mod. But please credit me when you do.
