Resolution Solution?>Trojan Horse?!

Hey,
I'm new to this site, and to civilization. Just installed it today and started playing. Unfortunately, I believe the program alters my display's resolution settings incorrectly, and the left side of he screen's setting displays are clipped. For instance, I can't see everything in the Warrior box that pops up on left side to display info. Basically, about 10 characters, give or take, are clipped from left side. Anyone else have this prob and know how to fix it. Also,my AVG virus detection found a trojan horse on the install CD under DIA.EXE, or something similiar. It has to be a false positive, right, since I actually purchased it from Wal-Mart, and it's read-only.

First off, Welcome to the Forums dionysus555.

For your problem, you can change your resolution in the options. (that is Main Menu->Advanced->Options)

Thanks, got the resolution configured right. Do you think the Troan detection was a false-positive? Also....how far into space-technology does the game go...just looking for quick answer I couldn't find in book. It would be neat to set up a sort of Man Vs. Cylon thing, though I suppose this is out of the question....right? Any suggestions as to where I might find a sim game of this nature?

There was no Trojan on my CD (Nor was there a DIA.exe file, as far as i can tell...) You should google up the file and the supposed trojans name, and see what you find. Some Virus scanners will flag Ad-software that might (however should not) be coming as part of some multiplayer lobby thingy (GameSpy, Xfire or however it is called) as Spyware/Trojan...

The normal game ends with building and launching a rocket to Alpha Centauri. There are mods and scenarios (Next War, Final Frontier) that might take it further.

Of course it is. Do you honestly think that a game would ship with a virus on it's disc?

Not very, you get to launch a spacesip and if you have BtS it will take 30 turns or so to get there. There is a mod with BtS that you can play which adds new techs and units along the lines of what you're looking for, and there's also a space based futuristic scenario as well. But the regluar game doesn't get much past Stealth Bombers.

There's no way that you got Virus from original game disc. Also AVG makes alot false statements. Get a NOD 32 if you want to keep your computer secure. It's the best anti-virus system out there .

If you want Cyclones (the futuristic weapon, not the hurricane), for sure get Next War Advanced.
