As an update I played through some last night and resurrected my economy, with two cities building research and two running scientists, I got currency in ~20 turns. Then CoL and I whipped out some forums built some more cats which was rather prescient since Hannibal DoWed me but no matter, I beat him back took carthage and the confucian holy city, despite him having some maces and xbows. Then the coward vassled to Shaka which brough the stack 'o doom down on me. I lost Carthage, the confucian holy city and was reduced to my previous borders fighting defensively because shaka has knights on me . . .
Then Izzy invaded from the west with a stack of obsolete units which I fought off with sustainable losses. In general things are not looking good, I have an interminable two front war on my hands with no end in sight not to mention I'm still behind in techs. Ah well it should be fun to see how long I can last or if I can scrape up a win.
