I herewith retire from all my positions in the demogame (in fact except one which i can not retire).

Reason:
Loss of confidence in our Government and its procedure as well as our Leaders.
The discussions and polls showed to me from the beginning of this game that our leadership has a problem listening to citizenry.
I thought this would get better, but it got worse.
Now i take my consequences...
As an example (it was not only that one!), i take the city placement poll. Not all options were included. Even though a citizen discussion was online and used, a minimum of 2 proposals being braught up there were not used for the poll. Why? Because the Department officials only looked in their small chambre and only had 2 proposals there.
This is the perfect exampe of a illnes which spread in this demogame: Ignorance. The Leaders only think in their small threads, but leave citizen input totally out of the discussions.

Offices i retire:
Head of UN delegation
Mayor of Bavaria
Cartographic Officer

Offices i can not retire due to technical reasons:
Head of Chat Office

I will NOT retire for the RPG, but will greatly but down my participation at the actual demogame until my reasons are obsolete.

I thank all supporters in nominations and all discussion partners, especially chieftess, cyc, donsig, greyfox, shaitan, and all others for the nice time and the trust they put in me.

Sorry to see you go dis....

It's going to be hard to imagine the game without one of your posts in every single thread :)

SaaM: dont worry. the leadership problem is like cancer this game. not your fault i would say, but maybe a general failure of our system.

i will NOT retire the RPG. only my positions in the demogame.
i am in fact pretty satisfied with how the rpg runs.

I think your non-involvement with the game will be a loss. I am sorry to see you go.

In the past, you were never one to walk away when the majority disagreed with you. I hope that you will reconsider.

it is not because the majority disagreed with me (i doubt they would have if the poll would have included the options i refer to as example), it is because this is an example of how our government seems to have agreed to run this game.
saam did not exclude it on purpose i believe, but he just did what all leaders tend to lately: just look in their government thread for answers.

Well, there is an election coming up. Rather than see you go, I wish that you would run for an office and set the example on how you feel it should be done.

Using your skills in the RPG game only is a big waste in my opinion.

Bill

Well, i have very specific things i think a leader should do. And one of them is participating at MOST of the chats.
I could do none of them, hence i would be a lousy leader.

BtW: I think the RPG game is somehow adictive. Maybe thats why i cant let it go ?

Bye dis.

As for the city placement issue... if we did pick every possible spot for our city, then it would just take too long. It's a good idea, but we can't keep voting on every single move a unit makes. The game should only take 4-6 months, not 4-6 years. :)

I'd been in my 20's by then!!! :)

I don't really understand why Dis is leaving.... seems like something that is easily changeable, but it's his choice.

Bye, Dis. Be sure and write....

Hey, I've got an idea. When you cool down, why don't I bring over some steaks and some beer and we'll torch up the barbeque on the beach. We'll talk about the good ole, bad ole days...later dude.

Bye dis, I hope you rejoin us at some point.

Well, in fact i dont LEAVE. I just quit my jobs.
I will still participate somehow...

@ct:
we can include all options in a poll, even those of which we THINK they are not liked. people will then decide. it wont take longer.
i didnt take longer in dg1 in fact, and much more decissions were taken by the populace.

@all:
see this as a kind of protest resignment.

I do not think it is that important for leaders to be at the chats. there is already too much reliance on the chats and I think that is why much that is posted in the forums is ignored or never even seen. Rather than reduce your participation why not join us in making a better government? At the very least keep posting in the demo game forum! :king:

I agree. While the existence and structure of the turn chats is not the immediate cause of your discontent, dis, I believe it is the root cause. Many feel that approval of their policies during a turn chat is sufficient proof that it follows the will of the people. While sometimes they are correct, many times they are wrong, or there is at least enough difference of opinion that further discussion and polling should be done. Personally, though I enjoy turn chats as much as anyone else, I believe they are a detriment to the game. They alienate those who cannot attend, and many of the decisions made during spot votes are done blind, as the voters have only a brief description of the situation by the designated player. Again, I must insist that the turn chats be considered secondary to the forum as far as decision making is concerned. It is absolutely not necessary for a good leader to be able to attend turn chats. If you post your instructions on the forum in the turn chat thread, they should be followed. If they are not, you can start PIing people.;)
