i understand how you feel about the passwords. i certainly know from experience you are a reliable player rubberjello, i also considered myself a reliable player who did ont want to let down his fellow pbemers, then i had to abandon all my games, with the exception of one two player game which was just put on hold for several months. fortunately i was able to get someone to email a fellow player who was kind enough to get replacements for me in those games, as i was not able to get to a computer myself, things can happen.
i am not really angry about the refusal to send the passwords to DogBoy, so do not take this the wrong way, but i think we are going to have to reach some sort of compromise. the reason i feel a compromise should be made is that i sent each player an introductory email at the beginning of the pbem, most of it is here:
was going to randomize world settings, but theoden said it was his first PBEM, welcome to PBEM theoden, it wont be long until you're as addicted to it as you are to civ itself, and he requested a non arch map. so to keep from several players having poor starts and one lucky idiot having a good start i went with the typical:
4 billion year old standard size normal climate temperate continental world with 70% h2o and restless barbs.
victory conditions:
domination
space race
diplomatic
conquest
cultural
other settings:
NO AP
No respawn AI
No culturally linked starts
cultural conversions allowed
No scientific leaders
Preserve Random seed (i always tolerate reloads for genuine mistakes such as hitting the wrong button or in my case when my 2 year old hits a button for me)
Monarch difficulty
player's (all civs were random except theoden & chrisiusmaximus)
predesad sumerians
Dutch
Rubberjello mongols
Korea
Theoden mayan
Aztecs
ChrisiusMaximus celts
Zulu
i hope to find a password holder who can hold all our passwords in case someone needs replacing, please try to play every 24 hours, at least in 48. if situations arise in which you cannot play the turn for whatever reason please email, pm, or post to let the rest of us know.
notice the last paragraph. nobody objected at the start of the game. i guess i will just drop the whole thing because it is not worth getting into an argument over IMHO, but you could have saved me some time and effort at the beginning if you had simply responded to the welcome email to let me know you had no intentions of letting someone hold your password.
anyway, no hard feelings
