Reversing Type II Diabetes

It depends on the kinds of carbs too, spaghetti, cookies, potatoes, beer, those are all awful, basically junk food and that's what he mostly ate. I'm sure eating beans, oats, brown rice, sweet potatoes is fine for the most part.

oh yeah, carbs with a lower glycemic index with fiber... I hated sweet potatoes and yams growing up, now I try to get them into my diet without the dressing, cheese, etc.

I like them fine with just salt and pepper but I usually use some butter too. I suppose olive oil would be healthier.

Regarding ppis, what side effects are you concerned with? I did a little searching and found very few. I mean long term there can be some stuff like increased risks of infections and things but the risks all seemed very low.

Once you get most calories from fat, you have plenty of room for both butter and olive oil.
olive oil having a broad spectrum benefit, including anti-obesity and anti-inflammation.... and butter containing butyric acid, which is really a treat for your digestive track and if you have IBS a blessing.

There is not a day that I get less than 50 grams of each.

wow, didn't know butter was actually good. I remember back when dietary guidelines advocated a reduction in such fats and corporations switched to sugar (yay :() I never thought of olive oil on my potatoes, gotta try it.

I tried prescription prilosec, I got a dizzy feeling and a painful mass in my chest. Went back to OTC prilosec recently and saw blood in my stool, so I went to zantac/tagamet but stopped that after maybe 6 weeks. I know someone who has been on them for ~15 years and he's still kicking, but I keep seeing ads from lawyers talking about kidney damage from ppis.

Actually, my acid reflux has responded very well now that I gave up smoking pot. Its been close to a month and I'm discovering the foods I eat have less effect on it. The smoke had an almost immediate effect relaxing the valve muscle separating the stomach from the esophagus. Now that valve is better at closing off the acid from traveling upward. Go figure...

I think the kidney things are overblown. I read a study suggested it might increases your odds by like 1% so it’s probably ambulance chasing. Not that your issues aren’t from the pills, I’m sure individual side effects vary.

Yeah I hate when people try to say dairy and oils and nuts are bad for you. Those fats have a ton of nutrients. It’s the carbs on everything that’s so awful and sadly they usually go together like French fries.

As far as olive oil potatoes it’s really good on redskins with some salt and herbs but redskins lack fiber so not the healthiest all the time.

I’m mostly just trying to cut added sugars and eat more fruit, fiber and good fats and see how it goes. Walk a little more.
