RevolutionDCM for BTS

Ok Bob, I'll do a build with basically Revolutions + IDW and maybe some DCM components that don't conflict with the AI and that can be turned on and off.
Cheers.

I'd be happy with that too, though be nice to get Solver's in also if its not. I dont use much of DCM, typically play with Battle Effects off, as well as Stack Attack and other unstable components in DCM turned off. Would t be with the 34 unique Civs + extra colonies DLL?

@Kalimakhus
When I looked at the code in general, ranged bombardment and archer bombard are now heavily mangled in the old world of 3.13 verses the new world post 3.17. I could untangle it no question. It's a bit like when you go fishing and the fish are out there but the line is so badly tangled you pack up and go back home to drink beer.
Cheers.

If such is the case then IMHO just merge Revolution + IDW for a new release. Personally, I think of DCM as Ranged Bombardment + stuff. i.e. I want it for the ranged bombardment and accept the rest as some sort of a bonus.

Once you have enough time and feel inclined enough to do so, you may go into these mangled threads of code and work out a working release out of them. Hopefully Dale would do it himself saving you the time and headache. After all he is the D in DCM, he knows his code and previous history proved that no matter how long it might take him he always revisits his ditched projects.

One advantage to this scenario is to have us all concentrating on Revolution & Better BTS so more people may help getting rid of bugs and coming out with wanted features and balancing.

@Duuk
Rev + IDW + Inquisition = Win = True

For me it is this:
Rev + IDW + Inquisition + Stack Attack (modified to actually work) + Ranged Bombardment + Battle Effects (modified to actually work) = Win Win

@Anyone
Has anyone tried Super Spies? If it is any good then it could be added to the above equations or is it:
RevDCM + Super Spies = Loose

I will get onto a new version of RevDCM but I'm experiencing "issues" regarding my VC 2008 compiler situation (check out the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition forum on civfanatics).

Thankfully I'm getting some help day by day.
Cheers.

super spies is really great addition.
make sure you get the modified nmake file for 3/17.
someguy uploaded it hear somewhere, if you need it ill uplaod it for you.
arnt you waiting for dales 3/17? or you gonna do it by your self? cause i couldnt....

Thanks Keldath. Problem for me is not compiling but debugging.....
If I could debug, I could probably have a good attempt at fixing DCM as it stands now. I did get the make file thanks. Are you debugging or just compiling?

@Ehmek
Will do both Inquisition and SuperSpies as addons. At least one good person thinks it's good enough for me to do the work to make it an addon.

Cheers.

Make that at least 2 who'd like to see Superspies.

What is your plans on making the battle effects work? I always turned that off because It lasts way too long, I don't like how it killed the production value of the tile (and did it cumulatively) and the animation effect is ugly and distracting.

@42
I know what you mean with the distracting animations. They don't blend with the background properly. I wouldn't have the skill to fix that. I do still like battle effects because I like the production disturbance aspect with them as well as the idea. At least there is something that is fixable with battle effects. There's some kind of a bug with plot memory of battle effect. In other words I think occasionally, the battle effects of a plot does not update and decay. We'll have to see what Dale does and maybe he will fix it. Now that BTS 3.17 is in and XML reading stability has been improved, being able to turn these options on and off will become a permanent feature of this mod.

Cheers.

Hey All,

I have Amras mod pack, and was wondering if there is anyway i can turn "revolutions" off in the middle of a saved game?

@42
Progression is this. I can't stand waiting any longer for Dale although his reasons for the length of DCM release are probably very justified and the wait will be worth it. However it's difficult to play vanilla games after a while because it feels like one arm is chopped off. Therefore I will get onto merging this build starting from now:
1) Revolution latest
2) Solver's latest
3) Better than BTS latest
4) IDW configurable
5) Ranged bombardment off or on
6) Battle effects off or on
7) Inquisition as addon
8) Super spies as addon probably not because I don't think it's at 3.17 yet (check)

I'll skip any other DCM components for now because SA and AB are bugged and the late game component's don't mesh with Better Than BTS.

Suggestions are welcome because the build will not be finalised for another day.
Cheers.

@Anyone
If a couple of people can confirm that Xenomorph port of Dale's DCM 3.13 to 3.17 is good, I'll merge his build and create a new RevDCM. That will be the simplest way to go. You can find Xeno's port on the DCM forum.
Cheers.

@Glider

your original plan seems better. Xeno's update is a straight forward one so any issues in DCM 1.5 will still be there. Ranged Bombardment is the most important feature in DCM. If we can have it and get rid of all the annoying CTDs this would be the best thing in this phase. Later on if it was proved that other DCM components are working without problems They can be added which would be an easier task with updated code already available.

@Kalimakhus
That was my original thought too.

EDIT: Working on adding Ranged bombardment at the moment. You have to be careful because small things like the unit XML's from BTS3.13 to BTS3.17 have changed.

Cheers.
