RevolutionDCM for BTS

How do I turn things on and off? I start a game and all of the Dale's Combat Mod stuff is turned off.

Edit: Nevermind, got it.

@Glider
Thanks for your hard work. :goodjob:

You obviously know what it is to compile and build together a mod! It is not a trivial exercise (like understatement there).

See post #269 below for info on RevDCM updates since initial 0.91 release.
Cheers.

@anyone
Knowing the approximate state of the AI development so far, if you want a really good fight against the AI on monarch, suggest this:

1) Tectonics - pangaea. The AI is still very bad at transcontinental invasion but is putting up a reasonable fight on coastal harrassment and land war. Unfortunately the AI doesn't know how to properly use terrain advantages yet and so a human on tectonics gets a bit of an edge on Tectonics.

2) Tectonics pangaea large map - 15 civs. Seems to give a good balance between early warfare between minor civs and barbarians without crowding out too much. The other benefit is that it appears to me that the Tectonics bonus placement might be better balanced for corporate competition late game. The other "issue" is that if any human civ expands beyond say ten cities, the space race is too simple to win. This is because the more cities a human has, the more they can multitask space ship construction, something the AI is very bad at. With less than 10 cities, multitasking is less of an advantage.

3) "Start as minors" selected. A great little option invented by Jdog. The interesting thing here is that civs evolve from war into peace only through negotiations after writing. It seems to add some excellent regional relationships between civs.

4) No need for aggressive AI anymore! even if "Start as Minors" is not selected as a start option. This is because of "Better BTS AI" changes, civs now understand their proximity to other civs and get realistically stressed by border tensions between neighbours. Unfortunately as yet, the AI doesn't know how to start a war for the purposes of gaining specific resources from it's neighbours. If it achieves this, it is by accident only.

Cheers.

Minor update to RevDCM 0.91. Disables the BTS 3.17 overwhelm doctrine because it is incompatible with UDCM1.5 and adds bombard text to bombard units which was missing. In other words if you download RevDCM 0.91 again, you will no longer get the possibility of the overwhelm doctrine but at least it's compatible with UDCM and won't produce a non-critical python error late game.

@Kalimakhus
In case you want to know the affected changes since yesterday are to these files:
\xml\text\Civ4GameText_DCM.xml (adds bombard text)
\python\EntryPoints\CvRandomEventInterface.py (turns off the overwhelm doctrine)

If you have already merged yesterday's release into RoM, it's not a big issue at all. I haven't bothered to increase the release number because the changes are too small to warrant.
Cheers

glider I think you should update the OP or the post after the OP since this mod has grown alot, and many people looking for modpacks only read the first page. It would be good to have the basic info of the current mod viewable at a glance.

@Glider

I was in a haste to update the Add-On for RoM as many people were asking for it. I actually missed updating all older xml files in the xml\text folder so I have to re-release the Add-On anyway. On the other hand I also had an issue where the RevWatch button is not showing in the main interface. I reverted back to the older button that uses the same image of the victory advisor. I haven't checked this but this might be dependent on the resolution.

Thanks for specifying the affected files it makes my life much easier :)

@Kali
The button is gone generally from Revolutions however I wouldn't be surprised if you can re-enable it via the ini. I personally live without it because you can get the rev information from the city screen.

@Phungus
OP = original post = 1st post in this forum = ok :goodjob:

@Glider1

The RevWatch button is not enabled\disabled through the ini. The ini only allows you to choose either to put it to left of the advisers buttons or below them. The fact that it won't show up is a bug related to the new image used for the button. What I did was changing the string referencing the image in CvMainInterface.py and this allowed the button to show-up again.

Like you I rarely use this button. But sometimes I like to have a general look on my empire to make sure that no city is slipping into rebellious behavior especially if I intend to change my civics or to wage a war.

@keldath

Hi Kel

I actually used the older version of the button that uses the Fest image like the victory adviser button. I'd like to see how you managed to get the Che Givara image to show up with or without a button frame. If you can attach a file I will be so grateful.

hey kali,

humm...didnt you wrote that youve change the reffernce to the button in the mainiterface above?

currently -in my mod - when you play with rev', you have the che givara button as it was in rev 1.41, only with out the frame, just the guys head for a button,

anyways, heres my maininterface code with the change, note that it has bug 2/30 with it,

say,
how well are you with python?
maybe you can help with the problem ive described in the link -

see my mid page post - i uploaded the file there.

RevolutionDCM is now at version 0.92. Changes are:
1) Revolution 1.62

EDIT: Currently chasing an unexpected bug in the Inquisition addon so as yet Inquisition is not possible.

@NikOtene
I hope someone will be able to answer your question because I can't.

glider,
have you ever thought about merging bug mod?
i would have used inquisition sdk code from woc

Thanks for that. Do you think the Inquisition code would work with Revolutions or would it need some modifications?

Nope. Never thought of merging the bug mod. Matter of fact I thought that's what Jdog had done already with his interface improvements. I try to spend as little time on "accessories" because this mod is already eating in to my time a fair bit already.

Cheers.
