RFC: BtS Bug Reports

Rhye: Here is a save from a couple of turns before the Persians spawn. Again, when I played through, Shushan stayed independent, through a war between Persia and me, and beyond... the second attachment is a save from after Persia spawns.

should be Pearl Harbor. Fixed, thanks

Shouldn't it be Honolulu since it's a bigger city and the capital? Pearl Harbor was only known for the Pearl Harbor attack in WW2. Also when Britain builds in Guyana shouldn't it be Georgetown?

Sorry Rhye, here goes:

In this game, Shushan founds Hinduism, then Babylon takes it. After this save, Persia spawns, and Shushan doesn't flip (again). I played a little more, and found that Mediolanum doesn't spawn (Rome founds Genua themselves), and Lugdunum doesn't show up either.

I'm redownloading and reinstalling 1.09. I'll let you know how things end up.

As for Greece, I agree. I noticed they stay very weak for most of the game. When they do expand it isn't until the A.D.s, just before the Vikings and Arabs, and they don't explore, besides the workboat. Maybe the settler and galley would be better.

Just a couple of quick questions.
1) How many times can older civ respawn? Just finished a game as the Arabs where
Persia respawned 4 times. The last time, believe or not, was 2047AD!
2) Can your vassal have a vassal? In that game, the last time Persia spawned
it immediately became a Turkish vassal. But the Turks had been my vassal
for most of the game. So I moused over their scoreline and there it was.
Turkey - vassal of Arabia and master of Persia. I've never seen this before.
So am I master of a vassal or master of a master?

1) There's no limit. The civ is picked between the dead ones, under certain conditions. Maybe the others have been wiped out completely, or their rulers may be solid
2) If this is a problem I can fix it

Just tried, 1 more settler and galley; 1 workboat and phalanx less.
They are still on the bottom of the score. Maybe I should readd the boat.

Hmm, I just played another game as India, and Shushan stayed Babylonian. I haven't done anything to the code, as far as I know, since I haven't opened it to change anything (in case something goes wrong - my computer-coding skills sorely lack).

I'll try again. Maybe it's me founding Takshashila, though I don't see how hat's the problem.

I've seen this before, in my German game. It helped me win, so I'm not complaining. It hasn't been an issue for me.

Thanks for the info. Not a problem at all. Just didn't know it was possible
for a vassal to have a vassal. I assume his vassal counts as my vassal too,
as far as scoring goes, does it?
BTW Will you be getting involved with The Rhyes of Europe mod? Any input
you've got would be welcome.:)

That'll help the Greece UHV but no, please don't add another settler. The Carthage and Rome UHVs depend on Greece dying (with all phalanxes outside the city disappearing) once Athens is captured from the sea. If I can suggest maybe add another worker?

I was able to finish both Rome and Carthage without any problems, and I didn't even bother about Athens - it was bypassed by my Carthaginian units on the way to Babylon, and I took out Athens after I had established myself in Western Europe for the Rome scenario. A stronger Greek civ wouldn't make the UHVs much harder, if at all. IMO, if anything, it will make for a better challenge, and a more historical setting: Greece setting up Mediterranean trading posts, instead of building later cities through to Poland, Ukraine, and the Baltic sea.
