RFC: BtS Bug Reports

Italy did not exist as a nation until the late 19th century, and was not a significant force in world politics except for the brief period under Mussolini at any point. I wouldn't consider Italy for inclusion if I were writing the mod (and I'm an Italian-American). Stick with Rome, that was Italy's glory time :)

I think it's better if people that don't know italian history would do some reading instead of keeping to post nonsense. Here is a start that doesn't take too long: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Italy.
Those of italian descent should be even more interested in knowing actual facts.

Gave India a try at Viceroy, since I've given up on attempting it at Monarch. Upon founding Islam, my fifth religion, the second victory condition fails.

Save is from the turn before, just need to end turn and get Divine Right as the free tech.

I have the same problem. And the latest version of RFC installed. How can I solve for this?!

OK. I tried with the World Builder, i added writing and monarchy to Indians and then I filled Delhi with prophets so that I could found all the 5 religions by means of bulbs. It actually gave me the 1st and the 2nd Victory condition, golden age, triumphal arch and everything else.

Then I tried to play normally and I founded all the 5 religions in a regular way in Delhi not building any other city: I thought it had to work. However, as I got Divine Right / Islam (about turn 130), the bug repeated and the UHV failed.

This bug is a problem and it definitely needs to be fixed.

OK. I suppose it needs to be fixed, otherwise the 3rd UHV would be impossible to achieve, assuming I start from Takhshashila.

Not impossible, just more dependent on luck (and using Lahore rather than Takshashila). I tried twice and succeeded once:

Anyway, it sounds as if an old bug reappeared somehow when Rhye updated 1.181 to be compatible with BTS 3.17--I haven't updated to 3.17 and haven't encountered this problem since 1.180.

I see the point. However, It happened that I was not able to regularly win the 2nd UHV also by not building settlers at all.

I have BTS 3.13 and RFC 1.181. I should perhaps try to patch BTS.

That might be it, then. After BTS 3.17 was released, Rhye modified RFC 1.181 to be compatible with it rather than 3.13. I just updated to 3.17 now, so I'll try India and see if there's a problem.

When you patch BTS, you'll need to download 1.181 again.

I don't think you do. At least I didn't. The version of RFC that comes with 3.17 in 1.181. You should only download it again if you have problems.

I seem to recall someone having had a problem, so I downloaded it again just in case. You may be right, though.

Anyway, I just tested it, and India's 2nd UHV definitely works if you have both BTS 3.17 and RFC 1.181, so it appears that 3.13 was causing the problem.

I'm not sure if this is a bug, exploit, or just working as intended.

Triggering a golden ages ends any current anarchy. However, if you enter anarchy while already in a golden age you have the normal number of turns.

This can be easily exploited by switching a lot of civics (get multiple turn anarchy) and then popping a golden age from great people. You can probably also do this with getting 2/3 UHVs while in an anarchy, but I haven't tried that.

Obviously, building an Olympic park or the Taj Mahal will not work, because you don't actually produce hammers while in anarchy.

It's only fair. After all, we do have great people in history like Augustus "saving" the Roman Republic from disintegrating into chaos, and together with it we had a change of government from republic to monarchy. Now, whether other types of great people can do it also is questionable.

Not really. In BtS you can't have anarchy in a golden age, unless Rhye deliberately changed it back.

He changed it back...he said they were "too powerful." Not everybody agrees.

I've admittedly used it a few times, especially in domination attempts, and it certainly makes sense to me. I just don't know if its intended or not.

I've also used a Great People-generated Golden Age to immediately come out of anarchy on several occasions.

Guilty as charged.
:spank:
