RFC Classical World

So will you add more civilizations to the mod? There are some places large and empty on the map.

I did try it with the 198 version but it didn't change anything. I've tried on multiple versions and all crash at 214AD which is weird because somehow I've gotten passed 214AD on other games I've had just fine. But I have no idea why it's suddenly crashing.

Also it is the civil war itself and not the save, reloading old saves that passed 214AD crash too.

ok I think I know how to solve it so you can continue your game. the game is crashing because it is trying to place units and can't find a plot, because the plot that used to be the city of Shu is now all peaks.

open your savegame some time before the crash,

now EITHER

enable cheat mode, reveal the map and mouse over the city "Shu" holding shift to get its coordinates

OR

open WB and save as WB file

open that WB save with text and find the city "Shu", get its coordinates

now open Consts.py, find "tCapitals", under that find "Shu" and change the coordinates to match your map.

rev 211 up with some minor fixes and balancing

The coordinates (131,45) are the same as in the file... I have no idea whats causing this.

I don't know if it is significant but the city Jianye does not yet exist on the map.

OMG THAT WORKED! It was crashing because Jianye didn't exist! I am so happy to have finally fixed this! Thank you!

yeah I really like the Qin now. having just the 1 tech goal helps mesh the wonder building better with the UB and slaves. it all seems to come together at once now the way I wanted it to. I like the UU much better as well. the old UU was OP, this one you have to spam to be successful.

I tried it again and while I failed both the conquest and wonder goals, my economy did better. The time constraint is quite tough, but it could be possible with a lot of skill. I was banking on barbarian horsemen sweeping in through the north and weakening the north-eastern independents, but that didn't happen.

A few province oddities:

- Andhra includes some Indian Ocean tiles.
- One of the tiles in the Caucasus is part of the Caspian Sea province.
- Funan doesn't cover the Mekong Delta correctly.
- Some tiles on the Northern coast of Central Japan are part of the Sea of Japan province.
- Sakhalin is part of the Pacific Ocean province.
- Tungul (and other parts of Northern Nubia) is part of the Sahara province.
- The eastern end of the Sea of Azov isn't properly synchronized with the Black Sea, Scythian Steppe, and Caucasus provinces.
- Mauritania probably shouldn't extend quite so far south.
- The islands west of Sumatra are part of the Indian Ocean province.
- Cyprus, Crete, and Rhodes are Carthaginian border provinces (It doesn't really some like they should be).

Regarding your last point about Carthage, being a naval empire, I could plausibly see a claim to those islands. Had the Romans not defeated them, they may have extended their reach there.

EDIT:

320BC start, Pandyan. While visiting Europe in galley, I noticed Rhodes had Christianity in 230 BC...

Yeah, but they never reached (or even tried to) conquer or gain influence over them historically. I think it would make more sense to have Southern Italy as a border province.

NE Cappadocia, Moesia Superior (i.e. modern Serbia), the area around the Tyras/Dniester River, and Moesia Inferior (i.e. modern Wallachia and Moldovia) could probably use some more resources to buff them a little bit, especially the first three which are primarily hills and thus not very productive or useful, at least in the first half of the game.

I agree thats a good area to improve

rev 213

fixed most of the province errors listed above

and got rid of the premature Christianity in Rhodes

and I took those islands out of Carhtage's normal regions

Has anyone ever won the UHV of Chalukyan? I have no clue how to get to cathedrals in such a short time.

Also in the 550 AD start I'm seeing a lot of cities named city. One in Portugal/Lusitania, one in Mauritania, and one in I think Pontus.

I don't thinks its fair for Byzantium to start with Settler instead of flipping existing city as their capital at Byzántion, It was a prosperous city, Constantine did not just chose to build a new Rome on empty hill!
