RFC Europe Files

New version posted on second post of this thread.

Sorry, mate. Big problems opening the new version. Doesn't work at all. (see screenshot).

Sorry -- should work if you just rename the folder to rfceurope (rather than rfceurope2). I'm uploading a new version and will update the link appropriately.

And... the new version is up, post-dated to April 13th.

Great. Everything working fine now. Found 2 quotes still not working but I know why now. I'll fix them and post the revised files tomorrow. Thanks.

New test version up in 2nd post of this thread. Should be save-game compatible with last version and fixes most (hopefully all) game-ending crashes.

@Jessiecat: I just saw your post here -- did I miss your new fixed tech quotes somewhere?

Its OK. They'll keep till next time. I'll have all the tech civilopedia entries finished by then also.

I've just finished the tech civilopedia entries for those civs which don't yet have them (subject to final editing and spellcheck of course). As you can see, they are all a fairly uniform size which should fit easily in the space provided. A couple of questions though.
1. Are they alright as they are with just the name of the tech as a heading or do I have to do something more so they can be coded?
2. Which line of the Civ Tech Infos file do I alter with the eu prefix or do you want to do that? Is it this one?
<TAG>TXT_KEY_TECH_CALENDAR_CIVILOPEDIA</TAG>

or is it the one that says DESCRIPTIONS instead of CIVILOPEDIA?

Or can I just leave it for you to code and I'll get on with rewriting some of the other tech descriptions.?

BTW I've also included the final edited versions of the tech quotes as well.

New version now posted on the second post of this thread. A hefty chunk of changes to make up for the longer delay in getting a new version out. I believe save-games from previous versions are broken again -- sorry.

The next version will focus on making sure that UHVs are good, so read the discussion at the end of this thread http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=299826 and playtest suggested or your own UHVs with this version to make sure they are challenging, possible, and fun.

The public map (WB file) has a line that states the folder with the mod. Currently it is RFCEurope. We can change that, however, we have to change the file accordingly. Also, please note the capital letters in the beginning. Some OS versions use case sensitive filenames. It is trivial to fix, but lets pick one name and stay consistent.

Awesome, I was about to post about the English UHV I just won (conclusion: pretty easy) but there's a new version out! Sweet! Thanks so much for all your work, it is not unappreciated!

@LaughingTulkas: we live to serve. I think I made the British barbs a smidge tougher in this version, but otherwise the UHV probably plays the same.

@3Miro: I think RFCEurope looks better, and we should return to that as the standard name. I've been managing my own updates through Subversion, which has been working really well, but somehow between the server and my Windows svn client the case gets lost -- and I never really cared enough to change it back before uploading. I think using Subversion to continue development could prove quite useful for coordinating between us. I'm currently using the free/public space on Assembla (which has a size limit we may hit eventually), but we could also move the repository easily to one of the other free hosting sites (Sourceforge or Google Code). You (or anyone) can browse the project here: http://code.assembla.com/rfceurope and play around with downloading the repository if you want. I can, of course, also make regular contributors an account for uploading/merging, once they understand how Subversion works.

I think the mongols are a little bit too strong, not? I couldn't hold them back with the kievans, and I really did my best!!

Wrong thread. Try play-testing feedback. Though I tend to agree. They go on too long IMO.

BTW. Welcome to CFC and RFCEurope.

New version posted in second post of this thread.

I changed the capitalization of the name back to "RFCEurope", and we're going to stick with that. Sorry if it confuses your high-score board.

I'm going to be very busy with real life this summer, so I'm hoping that 3Miro can resume the lead and keep the pace of this mod moving along.

Full Working Version

Test Version May 26: Rapidshare: http://rapidshare.com/files/237518845/RFCEurope_test_May26.zip

Changes:

Some new unit civilopedia texts
New city name maps from micbic
Fixed bug with religion instability (which was hitting Arabs hardest)
Fixed bug with barb spawning at Emperor level
Fixed stability bug where civs weren't counted correctly for open borders and wars.
Reduced stability penalty for being in foreign lands
Stability was too high with these fixes, so I fudged it with slow stability decay, though I view this as a temporary fix.
Reduced French research/production penalties
Much work on English game:
- New spawn area includes more of Normandy
- Calais spawns later (to avoid being killed by barb-vikings)
- New UHVs
- New barbarian units (Welsh longbow and Highlander) in Scotland and Wales. Quite possibly these barbs are a bit much -- I "cheat" and soften them for the AI.
Forts now possible on moors
Kievan UU now Druzhina
New unit art for Moscow Boyar
Byzantium starts out with some immobile guards (Tagmata).
Kievan UHVs moved earlier (as suggested) and description clarified
New Burgundian UHVs (as suggested)
Fixed some out-of-order prereqs in naval tech line.
Decreased spawn periods for the Seljuks (who get new art) and Mongols as suggested by jessiecat
Changed the "Franks" to be the "French", in keeping with other modern names.
Later spawns and different spawn zones for Moscow (Russia) and Spain. These civs now appear "out-of-order" at the start of a new game, which should eventually get fixed.
Much work on Iberia:
- New Cordoban UHVs
- New indies to represent the early Christian kingdoms
- Later/more powerful Spain
A crude boost to the AI weighting of projects now has the AI building some colonies.

Where are the maps I made for Spain, Portugal, Cordoba and Arabia in Morocco? And the Spain map for Sicily, Italy, Sardinia???

Sorry, didn't include them  . However I promise they will be in next version, since I have figured out how the program works.
