Rhye's of Civilization - the fastest loading mod Expanded - PART II

Sorry for the double post...

osw,

I also built a monument right at the start it's crucial to getting the 13K. As for how I got the wonders, by taking out China and Korea, I removed two threats to the Potala Palace, and since India and the Mongols (I don't even know if they have the Buddhist trait, I've never been them) are usually not a threat, I could build it when it was convenient. I managed to get a tech lead (via the GL) by taking a galley to the Mid East and meeting the Persians then the Arabs; it also helped that I was lucky enough to hit every single attainable tech before Education. I triggered my GA with samurais (attacking the Korean cities in Canton).

The key to the later wonders is just being at or near the top tech-wise, and keeping it by dogpiling the tech leader (using the other advanced civs). In my game the Arabs demanded silks, which was convenient since I was about to declare anyway. I actually had every single nation that they contacted declare on them (I checked the diplo window for everyone that had Arab contact). This slowed the tech pace down. It's hard to see in the minimap but the Indians actually control a city on the Arabian peninsula (they had three but two flipped back). I took the liberty of destroying the Arab colonies in the South Pacific.

Andrew,

The  was just to indicate that I can't remember where I got it, not directed at you (I noticed that it could be interpreted as condescending - only after posting though... I should have looked at a preview :crazyeye: )

Rhye,

Thanks for posting the alternate download location, I couldn't seem to get the file either.

You can send along a checklist, but we'll probably just go over the goal/bonus list ourselves to check what you've accomplished.

Ok...I got bored with my Language Based Security work so finished off the game.

I was able to capture both the Japanese and Chinese starting locations to get that bonus.

I won via domination victory with 25 percent of the world and 59 percent of the world population.

What e-mail address should I be e-mailing all this stuff to?

Thank you.
Rhymes, we should get to work on RMC2 once you get back on-line (assuming you're still on board for this one).
Anyone else who's interested in helping with the organiztion of RMC2 (but obviously, not participating in it) should email the rmc.sub[AT]gmail[DOT]com address (or my own msappir{AT}gmail{DOT}com) with some IM (preferably MSN Messenger) info so we can get in touch and get to work.

Is there any way to trade world maps? Also, can anyone tell me how to use Rhye's 180x180 world map with the mod + expansion? And... oh ya with 31 civs its pretty hard to keep track of everything is there any way to easily tell who is all at war with who? And is there any way to get rid of Byzantium? I just can handle playing as Rome and competing with...myself. Thanks!

Sorry for the double post, but no one answered my question, sorry if its kind of Noob but I would really like to figure this out, thanks. By the way I found the way to get rid of byzantines, but one more question: How can you break up an army once you have made it. I dont want to risk hitting the disband button and losing all my units in the army.

Your question was already answered:

@vandetta - Trading maps comes with astronomy, as does Magellan's voyage. And I think there is a No Byzantines version of the mod you can download through the mod site.

and, about
Also, can anyone tell me how to use Rhye's 180x180 world map with the mod + expansion?
, I don't understand what you mean. can you explain it better?

Alright Vandetta, you cant break up armies once they are formed. Its like that in all of civ.

I really wouldnt advise using the 180x180 map. You could do it though by going into the editor, opening the 180x180 and by telling it to import the rules from RoX. But it really wouldnt work since the mod has been balanced almost perfectly for the 170x170, not the 180x180. There are all kinds of hidden resources and landmark terrains which are on the 170x170.
Also doing the 180x180 would mean longer wait times which no one really wants.

Hi to all!

Clashing of Empires reached to a new version - v3!
It has DRAMATICALLY NEW wonders scheme

I have no time for looking what it is about, can you briefly explain what it is?

Rhye, is this a big enough error for a new patch? ;)

I haven't got time, even for this. There were plans for a new patch (and the list is still there, become wider), but my days are completely filled as never happened for one year.

@blasphemous: One culture pt. doesn't suffice for a city to survive. It gets destroyed when culture < 10 and size = 1 before the final battle.

@harlequin: Congrats, great RCM1 game! I'm especially impressed how you managed to contact all Asian civs and nearly finished AA at 670BC. Looks like you've been really lucky with GHs and know every tile and barb camp by heart :) . What I don't understand is why you only had 10 cities at 500AD although both Israel and Babylonia were eliminated 500BC ?!

My first scout went straight to Europe, and discovered a friendly town north of Byzanz. Other than that, I only got Writing, 2 warriors and maps from GHs. My Asian scout was destroyed between India and Mongolia, and I didn't go to Africa at all yet.

Israel fell around 650BC, leaving me a nice Suez channel. After that I took the chance to grab a Byzantine town north of Babylon, before rebuilding my army.
We switched to Republic at 330BC.

It's 110BC now, we've conquered the two Babylonian towns only to realize that a third one popped up some 8 tiles east in the mountains. No chance to get there by 0AD  . Well, at least enough swordsmen and horse archers survived to challenge the Ottomans around 0AD...or maybe take the Persian capital first...

At 110BC: 9 towns (2 built), 7 monuments, 5 barracks, 5 harbors, 2 temples, 1 library.
4-6(not sure) techs left in AA.

I could have built a few more cities (4 of them were arab built) But the extra troops were much more useful.

I spent a lot of time building horsemen and hording gold. So that when I discovered chivalry, I could upgrade about 30-40 ansar warriors right off the bat. And then the conquests didn't slow down until I started getting way to much corruption. Then it slowed a bit, and then picked up heavily again once I got to communism.

It's not a matter with luck with the GH's. When your an expansionist civ and you get almost every single GH in the Europe/Asia/AFrica. Your bound to get what you need. I would say that I got a lot of duds (maps), and a lot of gold. But if you get all of them, your bound to race through the Anicent Era.

You have to be smart with the explorers. Have them spend most of their time in the mountains, jungles, or marshes. They can't be attacked there. Since both Africa and Asia are covered in safe tiles, it's very easy to lead them safly through.

Theoretically yes - but I had the luck to be ambushed by a horseman (that I couldn't spot before) on the one single tile of desert between the Himalaya and the Mongolian mountain area. Also, I think it's quite hard to get your first scout into Europe, let alone sneaking through the open Russian plains. BTW, how many Scouts did you use? I only built 2 or 3, since I wanted to conquer Israel asap.

As for building up your treasury, I hardly ever get a decent amount of money for my techs. At least 90 percent of the AI are chronically bankrupt and only live from my gifts...I'm wondering if it would be wise to not always research at maximum rate. You probably could still get the max out of tech trading.

I detailed my entire "start game" earlier in the forum. But this is how I handled the begining of the game. I only built two scouts. And the first GH I get always seems to be a warrior.

The first explorer hits the two GH on the way to persia. then sticking to the marsh and mountains hits the GH east of babylon. Then goes south through the mountains sorrounding persia and hits the GH inbetween India and Persia. Then it goes south through the jungle and gets the GH in the jungles. Then up into the mountains north of India. Heading east from there, I make a run at the GH along the china coast line. Then he heads north, through china, and through korean. STicking to as many marshs and mountains as possiable. Hopefully I can steal one of the northern GH. I did in one game, didn't in the other. Then he heads west, getting as far as he can. I can normally get that GH in the middle of all the barbs by using the marsh and forest to my advantage. In my main game he made it all the way to Russia, thus completing that curcit of my exploration.

A warrior heads up through babylon, hits the GH to the east of the ottomans, and then heads between the caspain and black seas. He then skirts the black sea passing just below that barb horse archer who does not attack you. He then hits the GH outside of the bzytines, and then up to the GH to the east of the Austrians. You then have two decisions. Use that warrior to meet the western Euro's which is what I did. Or you can send him north and try to steal the GH's from the vikings. One gets you 1 or two GH's. The other gets you contact faster with the French (money/tech giant), Spain/Portugal(one of which will be strong, England (always a nice money maker), and the Dutch(sometimes a good money maker/tech getter).

The second scout heads over to africa, and hits the GH north of egypt. Then goes through egypt and hits the GH to the south of egypt. Then it goes through ethipoa and hits one of the GH's south of ethipa (the zulu's almost always get one). Then he heads west to get the two GH in the ivory coast. Then up through the desert, avoiding the barbs and getting both of the carthage GH's.

I built up my teasury by selling tech to the Asians, Africans, and Europeans that would get it fast anyway. I also got to monarchy extremly fast (due to GHs), and never bothered with Republic. I had almost no building infrastructure outside barracks. All of my workers were foreign workers I bought through money and tech (I still managed to have a lot of them).

There you have it. A way to meet every civ in Europe/Asia/Africa early in the game, and getting all the GHs that you can get.

@Blas: I'll be on the road for the next 2 weeks, instead of going straight back to Montreal I'm gonna go through Texas, Florida, spend a couple of days at miami beach and head back to Montreal. I'll be back online in about 2 weeks if I find the funds for a new computer, but I dont think there is gonna be a problem. So I'm probably gonna be there to check the submissions for RMC1, and if there is some planning left to do for RMC2 I'll definately be in, but its gonna be a little late... Anyway I'm gonna stop at internet coffees every 2-3 days so send me info on my gmail with your ideas...

Okay.
I'll now stress the point that I really would like more people to hop on board for the planning stage of RMC2. I can't really do it on my own. You can join as long as you don't intend to compete in RMC2. It will not be fair to allow those who planned the game to participate in it. (Though they can do it for fun.)

Mostly just give me feedback and ideas on the goals/bonuses setup. I'd also appreciate help awarding scores for submissions (in RMC2), but that is another thing altogether.
If you're interested in helping, pm me with some IM contact info.
