All Knowing
Sorry for the double post...
osw,
I also built a monument right at the start it's crucial to getting the 13K. As for how I got the wonders, by taking out China and Korea, I removed two threats to the Potala Palace, and since India and the Mongols (I don't even know if they have the Buddhist trait, I've never been them) are usually not a threat, I could build it when it was convenient. I managed to get a tech lead (via the GL) by taking a galley to the Mid East and meeting the Persians then the Arabs; it also helped that I was lucky enough to hit every single attainable tech before Education. I triggered my GA with samurais (attacking the Korean cities in Canton).
The key to the later wonders is just being at or near the top tech-wise, and keeping it by dogpiling the tech leader (using the other advanced civs). In my game the Arabs demanded silks, which was convenient since I was about to declare anyway. I actually had every single nation that they contacted declare on them (I checked the diplo window for everyone that had Arab contact). This slowed the tech pace down. It's hard to see in the minimap but the Indians actually control a city on the Arabian peninsula (they had three but two flipped back). I took the liberty of destroying the Arab colonies in the South Pacific.
Andrew,
The
was just to indicate that I can't remember where I got it, not directed at you (I noticed that it could be interpreted as condescending - only after posting though... I should have looked at a preview
)
Rhye,
Thanks for posting the alternate download location, I couldn't seem to get the file either.
