Rhye's of Europe Civ Discussion Thread

I'm not sure what was said about the orders, but i recently played Medieval II and there the "orders" give you extra quests and with the order in your city you are allowed to build for example Teutonic Knights.

So with the Christian Spanish you'd be able to build the Knights of Calatrava or
some sort of special unit like that I guess.
OK. Got the picture. Any news on the map so far, with alt city sites and
all that? Is there a link to the latest version? With my "reborn" computer
I need to reload all the stuff I lost in the crash.:)

No, not like that. Having the order in your city would be like having a corporation - it doesn't allow you to build special units, but gives bonuses and penalties. For example, units built in a city that the Hospitallers have spread to would get a free medic 1 promotion and units in the city would heal 10% faster. The presence of the Hospitallers might give a health bonus dependent on the presence of certain resources; they would also give some negatives (gold, stability) to counterbalance the positive effects (and reflect the difficulty of having a state-within-a-state that many of these orders represented). A monastic order like the Jesuits might give an espionage bonus, or a science bonus. Any clearer? We managed to hash it out pretty well before.

As for the map, give me a little while to incorporate everything. I'll try and do it over the coming weekend.

Not doubting that discussion has occurred. Just couldn't find it. Now I
do see what you mean, how about Arab Medicine as a U.P. for Al Andalus
and Jihad for the Arabs? Both fairly historical, I think.
As for map, I'm happy to wait for latest version. How is the rest of the
work going? As noone has posted lately, we're in the dark, it seems.:)

did we just abandon this project ?

just bumping this thread so that people can find it more easily.

I will be posting my general contributions in this thread as you suggest. Please indicate which areas you'd like me to research. Have started work on a settler map. See Map thread. Thanks.:)

Have searched threads to find ref. to Bulgaria. Apart from start date 630AD and flag not much.
So I'll try to flesh it out a bit. I propose using the BTS Mongols as template. (easiest to mod)
with certain additions borrowed from other mods.
I propose the following:

BULGARIA 632AD start, capitol Pliska
Techs- Hunting and Agricuture
Leaders - Khan Asparuh (Agressive, Expansive) favours Vassalage
-Tzar Simmeon Veliki (Philosophic, Creative) favours Hereditary Rule
Unique Building -Ger (stable)
Unique Unit -Konnick (horse archer) -uses Mongol Keshik art (movement 2 all terrain, strength 6)
Unique Power- Power of the Horde (as in Mongol UP)
or one based on faith? (converted to Christianity 864AD)
UHV - 1. To survive beyond 1100 AD?
2. To control Greece and Balkans by 1400AD?
3. To control above by 1800AD?

Just a basic outline so far. So comments and suggestions please.:)

"To survive" can't be a UHV since it is a implicit general condition to be able to play ^^
The other two conditions seem a bit too easy. Controlling the whole slavic area might be better.

I take your point about the first one. Maybe something else then. But about the other two
I mean the whole area south of the Danube and west up to Venice. Maybe Constantinople
as well. Controlling the whole slavic area including Poland, Hungary and all of Russia
would be very hard if not impossible, in my view.:)

Yes, controlling the whole Balkans is a good UHV. How about not loosing a single city to the Ottomans for the second UHV? How about building a certain about of religious buildings for the third?

OK, how about,
1. Control Greece and the Balkans (south of the Danube) in 1400AD?
2. Build 6 Christian monasteries and 4 academies by 1600AD?
3. Control Greece, the Balkans and Constantinople in 1800AD?

BTW There maybe a problem with the capitol as Ive described on the map
thread. What do you think?:)

I can help with Sweden (& Finland :)), like city placements and names, general history, etc. Unfortunately I don't know jack about coding and that sort....
BTW, the excel link Umarth posted isn't working at the moment...

That would be great. Just download the map from here post 152 and play it as a game. Then, go to world builder and put a sign on every tile that you are doing with the city name in that area. You can have some cities using more than one tile. Try to put in cities before the industrial era.
After you are finished, just post them as screen shots.

Suppose I could do the worbuilder-thingy, or then the excel option. One question though, as Finland is a bilingual country should I name the settler spots located Finland in Finnish or Swedish? For example: Helsinki or Helsingfors? Turku or Åbo?

Finland isn't one of our civs, so you should use the Swedish names for the Sweden city map.

I would recommend the excel option, btw.

If the cities are independent, or controlled by Russia, then Helsinki/Turku/et cetera. If Sweden controls, then Helsingfors/Åbo/and so forth.
