Rhye's of Europe Code Coordination thread

i've been poking around inside the python and c++ source to familiarize myself with the code that was added by Rhye. as soon as my exams and assignments are over i'll make a start.

i also made a civ timeline based on some historical maps of Europe on a spreadsheet which i have attached, this was to give me some idea of how many civs would have to be made in the XML; feel free to butcher it :P

edit: it's on sheet2, sheet1 was a rough draft which was quickly abandoned

I'm not quite clear what the point of that spreadsheet is?

The civs and their spawn dates were give or take a few minor changes decided upon a while ago. You can find a list on the first page of this thread and there is also a civ discussion thread knocking around.

I can just quote myself.

But i can tell you that i have my last exam on tuesday and then only one oral test a month later. Due to the fact that i have no school anymore now, i have a lot of free time and from my point of view we can get things running then a bit faster.

Hope the core members of this project are still on it, when i come back. :)

excellent news. i've got about 6 weeks of teaching left, and then i have a summer 'vacation' where i get to take classes rather than having to teach and grade them - so i should have much more free time. i'm looking forward to getting rolling again.

Um, EU: Rome just came out. I think I'll finish playing that before waiting for Rhye's of Europe.

Hello, I'm very interested in Rhye's of Europe and want to help. I can make the settler map if you have not yet. D. Zavoevatell posted his and I can make it in Python. I just can't download D. Zavoevatell's map because it was not reloaded after the hack.

Thank you, It will help a lot. Is the map v301? Do you have screen shots of the map?

I don't. I think Zavoevatell did it by putting landmarks on the map in worldbuilder then ripping their coordinates from the end of the wbs (in notepad).

Do I need to repost the map? I didn't realize that it had gone missing.

If so, I'll try to put it up over the weekend.

I found it on the map thread, the download is fine. It's just hard to find it.

I'll start filling in the settler map.

Just checked in the threads for the latest map. Can't find a loadable version.
If you've got it, can you repost it here as a Worldbuilder save? Thanks.:)

Here is the one that I found. Rhye's of Europe map v301.

But that's not we were working from. That's a 1100 AD start. Nothing to do with our project which has a 500AD start. There should be Worldbuilder saves of our maps in progress but I think they were lost in the recent hack. I'm hoping one of the others has one saved or we're in big trouble.
St. lucifer was going to look on the weekend and upload the latest version to this thread. :confused:I hope??

I uploaded it now to post 114, the 1100 AD was my signature.

Got it. Thanks for that. Looks it needs a few cities added, esp in Spain and
Tunisia. Are the individual squares done for alt. city starts yet?

I'd love to help out in a few weeks when my summer break begins if you guys need more peeps. I'm a mathematician but I remember some coding from my undergrad.

I have already finished the settler map for France. Here is the one for Spain. Most of the cities were founded before 1200 AD. I have 2 questions.
1-Does every civ need its own settler map, or can they all be the same?
2-Are settlers going to be able to build cities within 1 tile of the nearest city, like in Rhye's of Civilization?

Northwest Southwest Southeast Northeast East
