Riddles II

i was sure that the answer to the
"4 men sat down to play" riddle was:

they were playing against/with atleast 1 woman.

this is a great thread (just read the whole thing).

wish i'd seen it earlier.

Good responses, WillJ and RoddyVR

Heres another:

During WWII, there was a bridge connecting Germany and Switzerland, and on the German side, there was a sentry tower with a guard in it. He would come out every three minutes to check on the bridge, and he had orders to turn back anyone who tried to get into Germany, and shoot anyone trying to escape without a pass. There was a woman who desperately needed to get into Switzerland within 6 minutes. It takes her about 6 minutes to cross the bridge. It would take her at least 15 minutes to get a pass, but she managed to get across the bridge in time. How?

~Penguin Glory:cool:

Right before the guard comes to check the bridge, she walks onto the bridge. For a moment she walks towards Switzerland, but then she turns back. When the guard sees her, he thinks she's trying to get into Germany, so he turns her back to Switzerland.

Some more ...

1. Name an eight letter word that has kst in the middle, in the beginning, and at the end

2. A horse travels a certain distance each day. Strangely enough, two of its legs travel 30 miles each day and the other two legs travel nearly 31 miles. It would seem that two of the horse's legs must be one mile ahead of the other two legs, but of course this can't be true. Since the horse is normal, how is this situation possible?

3. I have many feathers to help me fly. I have a body and head, but I'm not alive. It is your strength which determines how far I go. You can hold me in your hand, but I'm never thrown. What am I

2. It walks round in a circle for a bit or takes a curved path.
3. A fishing lure?

You have 1 day left to answer my riddle.

Some more, if you don't mind:

1. An iron horse with a flaxen tail.
The faster the horse runs,
the shorter his tail becomes. What is it?

2. A man and a woman were driving in their car when it broke down. The man decided to go for help at a gas station a few miles back. He made sure nobody was in the car, rolled all the windows up, and locked all of the sedan's doors. He went off, but when he came back, his wife was dead, and there was a stranger in the car. No physical damage was done to the car, so how did the stranger get in?

3. While exploring the wilds of Canada, Dave was captured by hostile wood fairies. Brad, the powerful chief of the fairies told him he could make one final statement which would determine how he would die. If the statement he made was false, he would be boiled in water. If the statement were true, he would be fried in oil. Dave found neither of this options too his liking, so he made a statement that got him out of this seemingly impossible situation. What is the one statement he could have made?

1) No clue....
2) It was a convertible
3) "The Following statement is true. The previous statement was a lie."

A comet?

@ Crow: 2. it was a full car, no gaps
...............3. Close, but it has to do with the current situation, and its is one sentence. Keep trying, though!

@WillJ: Nope, but seeing that I know practically nothing of astronomy, that might work. The one I'm looking for is used in a household or some factories.

This statement is false

Ok since all of these work, the answer I was looking for is "you will boil me in water". All of your answers make sense though, so you really got them right. Try the others, though!

#1 - No idea, either.

#2 - The wife was pregnant, died during childbirth. The stranger was his newborn child.

#3 - Dave says "You will boil me in water." If they boil him in oil, the statement will be false, so they'll have to boil him in water. But if they boil him in water, he would be telling the truth, so they'd have to boil him in oil.

Edit: Just saw you answered #3. . . .
