'Christian' means follower of Jesus Christ so he'd probably struggle. Jesus doesn't need to recognise that he died for his own sins because he didn't sin. Jesus doesn't need to be a Christian to get to heaven.

i thought the da Vinci Code was amazingly good apart from one or two things. the problem that the thread host points out was a problem for me as well, i was often wondering what WAS fact and what Brown was making up.

Do you wonder things like that when you're watching King Kong, James Bond, Alexander, Saving Private Ryan, etc.?

It's fiction - some things are going to be true - and others are going to be made up. I don't see how this is a problem.

My point is that Christianity has evolved over the centuries and is extremely disimilar to the originals.

At least Mr Brown describes his book as a novel. Is there a similar caveat on the modern bible?

Actually, the Gospels have remained virtually unchanged through many translations over many centuries.
