Right, so why dont people realize The Da Vinci Code is a work of Fiction?

Sorry i will repharse:

A billion people belive jesus walked on water and came back from the dead but cant even consider that he had a wife. I find this peculiar , ironic and somewhat humours.

I think the fiction thing has people confused. Alot of people say "the author said that it was fiction" Now it is fiction that robert ran around rome stoping a killer, but the facts are not. Now i have no idea if jesus had a wife, or a child or anything but i will not totally abandon the idea just because lots of religious people say so.

Now heres the difference between religious people and fair minded people. If a scientist came up with evidence that clearly indicated that jesus did marry mary then the church (and some posters) would simply close their eyes and say "Fiction fiction!!! FICTION!!".

While if the church could give real evidence that God created life, and humans are in no way related to moneys. Then scientists would go "wow thanks for setting us right! want to go play civ?"

And as a third example if a Preist came on tv, ripped off his shirt and the words "Man evolved from Moneys" suddenly burnt their way across his chest and he grew wings and flew off to heaven. The Vatican would say its trickery, foolishness. If i say god talked to me last night and told me the christian church got it wrong and the true power came from Vegitable and exercise. I would be laughed at because they know that no one has really spoken to god.

That is what The Da Vinci Code is, a calumny. That is why Opus Dei is upset. The book starts with a prologue entitled FACT which ends with this sentence I copied and pasted so many times "All descriptions of artwork, architecture, documents and secret rituals in this novel are accurate". The problem is not that the descriptions of the artwork are inaccurate, or the architecture he describes is false, the problem is that the 'secret rituals' attributed to Opus Dei are false. Is a calumny directed to this christian organization that damages their reputation. That is why they are not happy. I wouldn't be happy either if somebody keeps telling lies about me. I would be very upset.

If what you say is true then i agree he shouldnt lie like that. I would be interest if he still says that this part is fact or not.

Then why don't you abandon it because there's absolutely no proof for it instead? 4 different accounts of Jesus life, not to mention the other gospels, and none of them say he had a wife? Please don't tell me you believe the "Constantine covered it up" story. Not that's it's much of an issue for me, I don't think having a wife would make Jesus any less perfect.

So I can't be religous and fair minded? Darn! By the way, it would probably be a historian who came up with evidence, not a scientist. And both scientists and historians can be Christian (or any other religion).

I'm willing to bet a lot of money not all scientists would say this.

I am happy about the controversy.

People should open their mind to the posibiblity that since Man is fallable, anything made by man can be fallable too. The Church is not perfect...what I learned from all this hubbub was that I incorrectly thought Mary Magdalene was a prostitute. I know now that that was a misinterpretation of the biblical text.

As far as the "facts" in the book, very fanciful story indeed. I always wondered about the Templar's and Merovingians and it was fun watching the historical truth behind the Da Vinci Code and other such stuff.

Secret Society's and conspiricy theories are fun.

great stuff on wiki...

An open mind is like an fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded. I loved the movie though. Its the truth I tell yuuu!

Skipped the last 9 pages...sorry.

The same people who believe the Da Vinci Code is truth are the same people who think movies that are "based on a true story" are 100% accurate.
