Rise and Rule for Civ3:Conquests

Hi there!
No, I don't want to make my own mod, simply I wished to have one working fine.

I thought the same about the shypyard: I synply added ships to the commercial dock. What about if I'll add ships (ok, no modern ships of course ;)) to the different eras icons of the Harbor???

I didn't attach the mod file altered as it takes time to upload it (56k modem!!) and I'll do only if someone will request it.

More notes on your patch:
in the Pediaicons file there's a space after the King Korean (as asian emissary, if I'm not wrong) and this let the game to don't recognize the right folder.
The T-34 is still missing in the extras, I added it manually from PTW WW2 units.
With your Pediaicons file my C3C don't recognize the changed .ini files made for F-15 and Modern Worker. I had to copy them manually from PTW units folder to their original folder in C3C units.
More..
there are several links to resources (like tungsten..) without any corresponding icon. The same sources looks like unused. Is it the reason??
Same thing for same wonder splash as the BigBen or Buddha.
Really unused or something is missing??

Right now I'm trying to add icons for new units to your units_32 file using C3MT (civ3multitool), but symply it cann't see it (it stops after the icon number 83) also if I tryed to copy it in almost all units folder of the game. It was working fine with 1.00 basic version what's wrong now? ...or better, what am I doing wrong?
I've to say that I've cleaned up everything before installing your last patch (starting with the 1.00 basic version) and re-installed all the game (Civ3, C3C and the C3C 1.22 patch)

Best regards

Again I forgot something (I start to be too old, I forget almost everithing everywhere, but this is a different story..)
If you check the units in the civilopedia you cannot see any icon for the Tribe.
I changed your original and I attach the files with new icons to place in the Art\Civilopedi\Icons\Units.

Bye

Your internet connection most likely cut the connection to the server halfway through. Try using a download manager like www.getright.com to get the file. It will allow you to resume the download if it gets disconnected halfway through, so you won't have to restart from scratch.

And I'd like to extend that recommendation to all dial-up users. :)

Ok Got it. But it says that the server (where the file is being downloaded from won't allow resuming) so if it fails again, I will find some where with a high speed and cd burner, and do it that way.. Let you know in about 12 hours.. 56k usually means 28k at its best which sucks.. I miss my cable modem...

Ok fair enough. Graphics have always been one of the lowest priorities for us - we want to make sure the gameplay is balanced and polished, before we really start worrying about that. But of course we add in new/improved graphics constantly as we go along, just to spice things up. :)

I thought the same about the shypyard: I synply added ships to the commercial dock. What about if I'll add ships (ok, no modern ships of course ;)) to the different eras icons of the Harbor???
That sounds good to me - post here if you get around to finish that. :goodjob:

If you're thinking of posting the whole mod (120 mb) with just a few files altered, then I don't think that's possible - the server wouldn't allow attachments that big. And I don't really think it's necessary - it would be much easier to just put the files you have altered in a patch for people to download and install over the main mod. :)

More notes on your patch:

Yep, but the Emissary's are all removed from the game, so there's really no worries over that. The Pediaicons entry is just a leftover, like the resources you mention, and BigBen + Buddha. All have been in the game at some point, but were removed for gameplay reasons.

The T-34 is still missing in the extras, I added it manually from PTW WW2 units.
Thanks, so it is. I'll add it in the next patch rather than create a whole new Extras Patch.
.. but actually, if you have the PtW extras, you don't need the Extras patch for anything - the mod will just find the files in your "Civ3PTW/Extras/World War II" folder. :)

With your Pediaicons file my C3C don't recognize the changed .ini files made for F-15 and Modern Worker. I had to copy them manually from PTW units folder to their original folder in C3C units.
 Sorry, not sure I understand. How are the .ini files changed? Are you modifying/installing things directly in the C3C folder? If not, then nothing in the RAR mod can change anything in your original C3C installation - everything from RAR is supposed to be kept in a separate folder, in the Conquests/Scenarios folder. I may need some more details to kow exactly what the problem is, sorry. :)

Right now I'm trying to add icons for new units to your units_32 file using C3MT (civ3multitool), but symply it cann't see it (it stops after the icon number 83) also if I tryed to copy it in almost all units folder of the game. Where is it that you can not see anything beyond the 83rd Icon? Is it in the game or in the Multi-tool? Or somewhere else? We have more than 300 unit icons in the file, and as far as I know they show up find, so I may need more details again :)

If you check the units in the civilopedia you cannot see any icon for the Tribe.
I changed your original and I attach the files with new icons to place in the Art\Civilopedi\Icons\Units.
Thanks, they were using the wrong number of palette colors. Will be fixed in the next version.

@BenWilbur: Ok, good luck with it. There may be another mirror up soon, but I'm not entirely sure if that actually supports resumable downloads - still, with the download manager, the connection to the server will be a lot more stable, than just downloading through Internet Explorer, so I think you stand a good chance. :)

I used Pic-0.1 to check your pediaicons file and while I saw the missing files it said that I was missing the links for the f-15 and the modern worker too, so I checked it and I found a bug in the original C3C .ini files what is supposed to be corrected with PTW or at least I think so as I found the corrected .ini files in the PTW units folder for f-15 and modern worker.
C3MT tool is needing to see your units_32 icons file in the main C3C units directory, so I made a backup of the original and substitute it. It wasn't working at the first time I attempted it as I had the tool running while I copied the file, it was simply needing to be re-started to read it after I moved it. Now works fine, new units added:
Kubelwagen
Sdkfz251
Panther and Tiger tanks as flavor unit of Main Battle Tank
ME-110N
M102 howitzer as Heavy artillery

I'll try to make a file with all things changed, but I think all units graphics will take a lot of space. The troble is not download ..is upload it!!

Anyway the job is not end yet PTW WW2 units are nice, but I'm missing the icons for the civilopedia.

One more bug found with Pic-0.1 is the misssing sound in the Uniformly Medium Junk junkfidget.wav, I solved it copying the sound from another ship and renaming it.

"Ok fair enough. Graphics have always been one of the lowest priorities for us - we want to make sure the gameplay is balanced and polished,"

I understand it and I till the game don't crash for any missing files is ok and you already reached this point with the last patches, but graphics help a lot in playability as, I don't know about other players, but I need to look often at the tech tree to develope my strategy, specially when it's completly changed!!

According to civilpedia the galleys have movement 1. But with a seafaring civ it has 4 movement and could enter sea tiles. Is this intentional? This makes seafaring too good to be true.

I was playing 1.01.

I just fired up 1.01 and the civilopedia says galleys have movement 3 which is correct.

I think the civilopedia is updated last, after the graphics. But that's okay.

Personally, I rely on the editor for the rules, not the civilopedia.

Here are the Missing graphic files what I found around, plus the new flavor units for germans what I loved to have.
..and the relative scenario file too, of course!! (nearby to forget to attach it :mischief: )

There are some graphics missing still, but now I need to stop and relax ...so I go to play it. ;)

I found some wonder splash, but I didn't know how to add the text board at them, so they are unused. Anyway I hope you can find them helpfull.

waiting the time to end to upload it.... :p

so I've time for one more question:
Do you know who had the idea to make flavor units??

I think it's great!! Every civ can have different graphics without altering the game playable and without being tacched to be a comunist if you like russian or fascist if you like germans(..me ;) ) or imperialistic if you have more american units.

I love turn based games and my preference for germans is coming from hours spent playing panzer general...

I would love to start to be a PBEM player, so I post my announce again here. Maybe it's the wrong place, but I'll love to play RAR 1.02 in my PBEM games. :)
