Rise of the British Empire(Civ 5 Version) Improved and Changed

Hi Everyone I will Be Doing a Story on the Rise of The British Empire. The Reason Why i Chose Great Britain is Becuase it is my favourate Civ and is based entirely on an Island. Which i like for the criteria for this game becuase i don't want to be bordering with other civs by Land and i want to build a Overseas Empire. Not a Contitnental One but might become a Global Empire hopefully it will. i will post whenever i can in 1-5 day invervals if i don't post in that time invervals i will say when the next post is coming. It will be less of a Story and more of a Comentary of Events and Reports on the Game as it Develops. the Story will include Screenshots i have the first Chapter ready for posting with 20 screenshots ready to upload

Chapter 1: England Rises without further interuption let's begin

I settled London on the south east coast of the British Isles. in the west and south west i have fertile grasslands which can be used for creating farms to increase growth. In the North i have Hills and forests i can use the hills to build mines to increse the production of London. Here are some pictures to show you what kind of enviroment i settled London in. here are the pictures of where i settled





then when i settled London. I amidently sent my worrior out to scout the British Isles. Then i came accross an Unsettled endinbough Settler which was just standing there doing nothing. in London i started working on another warrior and then i Attacked the Endinbough Settler. here is a picture of my warrior's attack on the Endinbugh settler. here is the picture



Then After Conquering Scotland i continued to scout the British Isles untill i coompletely discovered the whole british Isles. the king was happy to know that the whole british Isles was discovered so he presented the map to the public. here is the Map of the British Isles. here is the map of the British Isles.



Then I left my Warrior to just stand there on guard just in case of random Barbarian Incursions. then Back in London my next warrior will be complete in 6 turns so in the mean time i map out where my next city will be founded. here is a picture and map of the future site of the next city. here is the picture



then as things was going good in England. i set my newly recived worker to go and build farms in the grasslands west of London. then as all continued to go well i met Napoleon of the French he aproached me in a neutral manner not having knoloege of my future plans but the French seemed alright at the moment. but here is a picture of my metting with Napoleon. here is the picture



then as the years went on England's Fantastic Scienctists uncovered the secrets of Mining now i can start boosting Britain's Production so more units and building can be completed faster i am greatful to my great scienctists. they made a valuable discovery. here is a picture to celebrate there success. here is the picture



Then I selected my scienctists next project. they are to reshearch Archery an important tech if i want to have any chance of getting the Archer and conquering Ireland. but then my next plitical problem dawned. Ireland carlessly expanded one tile into my mainland there gonna pay for that with their existance. so im glad that London has produced another Warrior. I now set London on the task of producing my next batch of settlers to found my next city. here are the pictures of the Polictical Problem and my city control screen. here are the pictures





then as the crisis continues my plans are already set in stone i will have to remove Ireland of the map to end this land crisis. on the other hand my briliant scienctists have discovered Archery That's great becuase now i can weaken Ireland from across the Irish Sea i pay my greatest respect to our great scienctists. now i set my next project for our great scienctists to reshearch into the secrets of Bronze Working that's a crustial tech becuase it gives me access to the Spear Man a dealdy early game unit which i can use istead of the weak puny warriors. then as the years went on a Citizen of mine published is greatest work of the "most busy Civilizations" ranking civs out of how much production all their cities have empire Wide. here is the picture of the publication. here is the picture.

I have the screenshots for Chapter 2. I am now going to get the screenshots on in intervals of 4 screenshots per day. Meaning I will be ready to post by Monday or Tuesday next week. Hope you guys are enjoying the story so far. Chapter 2 on it's way and by the way I have no plans with the French at the Moment. But hope they accept my Open Borders Agreement with them. In order to get Colonists to Africa but if not a suppose it has to be War. I will not post until I get some more feedback on the story. It would be good If you can post some suggestions on what I should do during and after my war with Ireland.

Sorry Guys Chapter 2 wont be posted until Thursday or Friday This Week Coming. Because I was busy with other things over the weekend. Chapter 2: England and Ireland 2 Rivals

I sent my settlers to the top of the British Isles and Founded my own version of Endinburgh. here is the picure of where i settled and how England now looks with an extra city. here is the picture

Then after founding Edinbugh i amidently ordered Endinbugh to build an Archer so that i can have 2 Archers ready for my War with Ireland. then as the years went on England became more powerful. Then suddenly my Great Scentists come to give me some good news they have Discovered the secrets of Bronze Working. That is very good news because Bronze Working will give me the Spear Man a more advanced and more powerful unit to replace my puny Warriors. I pay all my respects to our Great Scientists for this excelent discovery. here is a picture to pay our respects to our great scientists for their great historical discovery. here is the picture

then as the a few years went on and i adpoted the Monarchy in the Tradtion Social Policy Branch. The reason why i chose Monarchy is becuase it decreases the unhappyness of the empire and increases the gold output of the empire by 1 every 2 citizens in each city. that's a good early bonous as my Economy can do with a boost to maintain my ever growing Armies. here is the picture of the social policies page and what i adopted. here is the picture.

Then as more years went passed England did not obtain much more strenghth and progress was slow. But then I met the Ottomans who were so keen to be my Ally that they showed themselves to be quite a friendly Empire but let's not underestimate them. here is the picture of my metting with Sulieman of the Ottomans. here is the picture.

Then as the Ottoman left me be for a while and the years went on England started picking up again and started obtaining more and more power over the coming year. Our Great Scienctists in this time made a considerable ammount of progress and made loads of Advances. here are a list of techs that they discovered Pottery, Writing,Sailing. here are the pictures of 2 two of the techs that was resheared. That is excelent news and I am massivly proud of our Great Scientists achievments. I Humbally reward my Great Scientists by ordering London to build a Libary. Then as the Years went one of my citizens published a document listing the "People who like to smile the most" a list of the Most Happyest Empires. here a picture showing the Document. here is the picture.

Then as the years went on the year is 2000BC. Sulieman of the Ottomans had contacted me for a deal and said it was a deal that can only serve the best intrests of Both the Ottomans and the English. It was an Open Borders Agreement and I accepted without any other demands. Hi guys sorry for not posting in a while but I was quite busy with other stuff. But here is the latest Update. I have all the screenshots ready for Chapter 3 all I have to do now is write Chapter 3. Now I can either write it and post it tonight or Saturday as I can't post tomorrow. Also as part of this week's Update not related to the story I will be starting new Threads for other stuff I have in store for all my readers. But Actually I'm going to wait until I get feedback and some ideas of your own for what you want me to do after Chapter 3 and then I will post the next chapter. Hi BE, as a Brit I'm looking forward to seeing us take over the world! The story looks interesting, although could I offer you a couple of tips regarding your posting style? I'm not aiming to offend, rather to give some constructive criticism that will hopefully lead to your story being enjoyed more by the people on this forum.

1) Please run a quick spell-check on your posts! No-one expects everyone to spell everything correctly (especially given today's education standards!) but since there's an easy tool to help you get it right, why not use it! Really handy for catching mis-types as well!

2) Try and vary your choice of words a bit. "Here is the picture" immediately before each picture isn't really necessary and does get tedious! For example, in the last section of the most recent report, you've written :

"I then declare war against Ireland in the same year. the Battle Lines are drawn and war begins. here is a Picture of the battle lines and my plans for conquering Ireland. here is the picture."

The 'here is the picture' at the end is unnecessary as you've already said it in the previous sentence!

3) Probably the best suggestion I've seen for writing a story like this, is to look at similar types of posts in the forums - a decent example at present would be krc's The Mandelbrot Affair which is extremely well written. Some of these guys are amazing at writing and of course not everyone is up to their level (the reason why I haven't written a story yet!) but you can pick up some really good tips from reading their threads.

As I say I really don't intend to offend, just hoping to help a really promising story get presented in the way it deserves. KUTGW

and good news. Chapter 3: The Irish Campaign will be posted Today or Tomorrow. Or If I don't Post Today or Tomorrow it will be Cetainly posted on Thursday. I am Sorry but Steam has to be blamed for deleting my screenshots of the Steam Cloud. This is Becuase Steam updated my screenshot system without any consideration for my Screenshots and just let them get deleted. I am Sorry Guys we have to now move on to Chapter 4.
