'Rising Tide' expansion announced!

So when is their presentation or whatever on E3 is happening? Or is it even happening?

That's cool. Good to know that the seas will have obstacles!
I wonder whether they will introduce something similar to the land aliens, having obstacles like that is a smart way to create some challenge and reason to build up military without causing immediate threat like more/stronger mobile aliens, would play into the whole "hostile environment" theme as well. Plus, alien nests might become an actual challenge, right now they're push-overs.

It's also interesting how they seem to form "banks".

According to this streaming schedule somebody on reddit put together, Rising Tide is scheduled for 16:00 (PDT)/23:00 (UTC) on Thursday.

Back in Master of Orion 2, when creating a custom race you'd neven take science bonuses without also taking production bonuses. Otherwise you'd have a huge list of stuff you can build but can't get anything done. Ships with big weapons taking 40 turns to build while your opponents build somewhat lesser ships in 1/8th the time. MoO2 was a very different game but having the receiving of technology and the implementation be two separate obstacles could keep science alone from being the only concern.

That should be the trade off in focusing on Energy/Production vs Science.

If players focusing exclusively on Science can build everything they unlock, or if some unlocks are disproportionately powerful and they can build all of them, Science is overpowered.
