If i start a cIV game with my settler right by a river, it'll be great. I'll probably have my first few new settlers go down that river and build cities on it. How great will that be! If the third city down is near an iron resource and i discover ironworking, then i can start building my swordmen in all of those cities on the river.

Whatcha think?

I would like to have fried fish as a tribute to my beautiful new hairstyle please.. and if u wont give it to me, I will get it myself.

Ah, river start positions were always sweet in Civ2 (iirc) and Civ1... I'm glad that they will reintroduce that aspect of the game!

I don't understand the point of this thread... What is it about? Rivers are good... Ok... So what?

So we sing praises to the glory of rivers. What can't you figure out?

:p

The point is to express enthusiasm for a product that has not yet been released and to theorize as to what we will do when said product is in our possession.

I always build next to rivers if I can. Free aqueduct, irrigation etc.

And pretty waterfalls if you build close to a mountain. :)

Well, Civ 3 failed rather miserably at that aspect, but we can dream the fleshed out Civ 4 will do better. :)

Me too, the lack of an aqueduct requirement is worth a lot to me.

I agree, gives me extra turns to pump out more military units! :king:

the point he is making is that if one city is connected to the iron, and is right next to the river, the other two cities on the river should gain the iron resource without roads... i think its a good idea

I wonder if you start next to a river that is connected to a resource, will you get that resource without being able to see it? Probably not, but it would be fun.

Moderator Action: Alms66, if you have a problem with my warning send me a PM. And I really do not think your post was even close to discussing this thread. At any rate, this thread is indeed driven nowhere at all, not because of the topic, but because of the pointless posts some people have made.
