Role Play Challenge: Asoka and the Doomsday Machine

Bandwidth problem has been corrected, thatnks for everyone's patience.

Note we could have gotten the AP win if we had to.

Maybe earlier, but not near the end, as you can't vote yourself to victory anymore in 3.13 (you need to need the votes from at least one other civ too for the majority for religious victory to be possible).

Well not teh best example of diplomacy, I confess.

Well, you can get more done with a kind word and a big tank, than with a kind word alone. And when you have a big tank, sometimes you don't even need the kind word. :D

Good game, congratulations. :)

Maybe you should talk to Sis how he handles the image space issue.

Hmmm, so I needed Stalins vote or was the option off the table already because it was just 2 of us? He was as friendly as you can get by the end. Still a moot issue as we got teh domination. We could have always gone the slwoer route of the UN if we had to.

very much enjoyed this one. I think you play and post just the right amount each time to make it a great read. Let the OCC begin!

For the AP victory, you would have needed his vote AND your number of votes would have had to be smaller than the requirement to win. So if it would have taken 500 votes the resolution would have only come up if you had 499 at most (you could have gone to 500 and beyond in the turns until the vote though), the rest would have had to be his.

Sorry to necro an old thread, but I actually shadowed this one last night and had a funny story come out of it. It was before my time when it happened, so I didn't really know the details of mad's game when I went into it. Changed the speed to normal and gave myself a regular tank (STR 28) vs modern armor, as I didn't realize mad gave himself modern armor.

Anyway, I lost the tank! To a stack of horse archers and catapults from Stalin - about 30 units of his. He suicided them into the tank, lost all but 3 of his units, but killed the tank! I was 3 turns from gunpowder and muskets at the time, but it turned into a tank free role play from that point forward. Didn't matter much as I was well ahead in tech and had claimed most of shaka's land by then, but I couldn't believe I lost the holy war machine tank!

Totally a fun game to shadow though, I must admit. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I usually have a city or two as unit pumps - this game I had a city as a "missionary pump"!

That's curious! I went right along the drill promotion line to save that tank, but 30 HAs (which ignore first strike and thus drill) would probably do it!

Sounds like the God's did not favor you as much, granting only a regular tank and not a Modern one!

I did drill as well, but the cats and HAs combined took it out. I read your writeup after I finished my shadow, and we did a lot of the same things overall, but I was very bitter to see you got a modern armor tank and I only got a regular tank!

I actually managed to get Kublai to be buddhist from the get-go, so he ended up being friendly quickly. Shaka was a nightmare though, as you well knew. There is something devilishly fun about having a tank against impis, phalanxes, axes, etc..
