Act 5: Back in the USSR
In the year of Our Lord 1295AD, the first foreign ship from o'er the seas reaches our shore. We receive the emissary of one Prince Zara, who seems an agreeable enough chap. He is willing enough to share some techs with us, so we trade him education for guilds, drama, calendar, and a map. In 1305AD we start settling more land, founding Kerkouane SW of Washington to claim unused floodplains for a small GP farm. Our tech order is printing press and replaceable parts.
We trade Zara nationalism for banking and compass in 1330AD. Then in 1344AD we meet an old friend.
Hannibal's dreams were disturbed. He was lost in a fog of sulpherous smoke, and a voice called out his name. Waking suddenly, drenched in sweat, he could dimly make out a familiar shape.
"Allow me," said the voice, as a match was struck, illuminating the darkenss.
"Old Nick," said Haanibal. "I see you've come to fulfill your end of our bargain, as I have fulfilled mine."
"That I have. Now close yer eyes, that I may show you the world as you've n'er seen it."
And it seemed to Hannibal that he rose to a great height above the world, so high indeed that it became a huge globe. Across the vast sea to the west he saw the shape of another large continent, and just to the northeast of it lay a large island.
"That be a perfect staging ground for my forces to gather a'fore we make our invasion," said Hannibal. "Now build me a bridge to yon island and wait until my armies have gathered in force. Then I'll call upon you to build the final link, the fulfillment of our bargain."
"I shall do as you ask," said the Devil.
"And if I may inquire further," said Hannibal, "what power do ye possess that enables you to mold the world as ye wish?"
"'Tis an ancient and unholy spell called 'the Worldbuilder.'"
"'Tis surpassingly cool," said Hannibal in amazement.
We sent forces to investigate this new land, which was peopled by barbarians. A single knight took the first city, Bactrian, which we kept. Another was razed, as it was poorly placed for our purposes. We built a settler to place on the west coast, where we planned to start our invasion. We build trebuchets and knights (which will upgrade to cannon and cavalry) in every city that isn't busy with infrastructure, and start moving them over to the small continent.
In 1354AD the Taj was completed in Ainu, and in the subsequent Golden Age we did a massive civics swap to mercantilism, caste system, Free Speech, Organized Religion, and Hereditary Rule. In 1360AD we got the hindu spread event, which allowed us to convert 4 of our cities. In 1368AD printing press finishes and we start replaceable parts. Soon afterwards, in 1374AD another ship arrives in our waters, belonging to one Charlemagne, who seems rather grumpy and is not willing to trade with us. The same year, Plato, a great scientist, is born.
1388AD Replaceable Parts completed
1396AD Trade Zara for optics
1402AD Gunpowder completed
1408AD Genghis Khan captures one of Zara's cities
1410AD Gepid ( a barb city) destroyed on the small continent
1422AD Great scientist is born
1428AD Chemistry completed
1430AD Scientific Method bulbed with 2 GS
1450AD DOW Charlemagne after he settles a couple of cities on the small continent. We were late in getting a settler there.
1452AD Florence is auto-razed
1458AD Pisa is auto-razed
1466AD Ulm auto-razed, we take peace with Charlemagne for some

from him, a GS is born, and communism is completed.
1468AD Switch to State Property. We start building watermills and workshops everywhere we can, although we leave most of the existing towns on our southern continent.
1480AD Trade Zara for constitution and music and adopt representation
1496AD Rifling completed.
1498AD Trade Zara for theocracy and adopt it
1508AD DOW Genghis at Zara's request (Khan doesn't have astro yet, so it's a phony war)
1512AD Military tradition completed, and we start building cavalry everywhere we can.
1532AD Take peace with Khan
1536AD Steel completed
Act 6: Let It Bleed (reprise)
Finally, in 1548, our forces are assembled.
Our good friend Beelzebub links our island to the mainland.
In 1554AD we DOW Charlemagne, and he bribes Khan in against us as well. Good, we'll take out both of their stacks at the same time!
1556AD We capture Luxemburg on the small continent, another city that Charlemagne settled on our island. Our main stack heads to Aachen, Charlemagne's capital, which I suspect will be loaded with wonders.
1564AD Steam Power completed
1566AD We capture Aachen, Charlemagne's capital, losing only a single cannon. Check out this booty:
Khan had a large stack of knights on the hill to the south of Aachen. We took them out on the same turn that we captured the city.
1574AD The AP stops the war with Khan, which is fine with us. It gives us time to capitulate Charlemagne, heal our forces, and get them into position to attack Khan next.
1576AD We capture Prague, Charlemagne capitulates, and I liberate Prague back to Charlemagne. I don't plan on keeping any cities other than Aachen (which, besides being loaded with wonders, is a shrined holy city that guards our land bridge).
1594AD DOW Khan, capture Adwa on the first turn of the war
1596AD capture Old Sarai, Khan capitulates, I liberate Old Sarai to him and Adwa to Charlemagne
1602AD Railroad completed
1610AD DOW Zara
1612AD capture Qohaito, economics completed
1616AD Capture Gondar, and our forces are outside of Zara's capital:
1620AD Zara capitulates, conquest victory 172,375 points
You can really see how the hammer economy takes off once we switch to state property:
We were producing an average of 3 cavalry per turn. There's no way the AIs could compete.
