Role Play Challenge: Hannibal's Deal with the Devil!

Hmmm... I think I would have left feudalism until after CoL. You'd have maces already, and they are MUCH better vs longbows. It's gonna cost you a lot of seige or a lot of numidians (or both) taking out Peter. I'd say DOW Peter first and grab half of his cities, then take all of his :gold: for peace, then DOW Monty and beat him up for a while, then take all of his :gold:, upgrade to maces as soon as you finish CoL. Then finish them both off. Since Monty's pleased with you and Peter is pretty weak, I think you can count on Monty joining in against Peter without being asked. I'd set him up for a major backstab, taking out his SoD when it's most vulnerable (in Russian territory, perhaps just after taking one of Pete's cities), then driving the attack home.

But however you decide to proceed, I think it'll be pretty easy. You know the drill: find their SoD, nuke it, mop up. The real challenge comes later when you start meeting the other continent. It's not too early to start making some strategic plans for that. Great job so far, of course. But, really, the map makes this pretty easy. Your land is MUCH better than Pete or Monty's.

I personally am in favor for the "flip a coin" method. Because in the end, your gunna have to kill both of em.

EDIT : Better yet, why not let them fight each other, then kill monty once he uses up his SoD?

I would say take out Peter first. He has landlocked cities so you get a good beachhead (no pun intended ;) to invade Monty. After that start burning all those filthy coastal cities of Monty.

Get Pete. Loosing a friend to tech-trade ain't much of a deal since you wont be able to trade half of his tech. His land is better than Monty. Crush Monty later on, when you'll have trebs to stomp him.

*flips coin*

Peter the Weak it is.
Perhaps you can bribe Monty into this war to make nice with him and afterwards - well, we all know he has to die, don't we ?

If the window exists to attack an archer defended empire I would ponce on that over LBows. Besides he is Monty?!

Also Since you will keep very few of his cities Killing Monty will not slow your economy.

CreeDakota's got it. Attack Monty, eliminate a crazy you can't control, get money from razing cities and experience for your troops, and use both of those to slingshot into Germany after you've upgraded your troops.

Germany?? It's Peter of Russia unless there is a spoiler slip:rolleyes:

Germany?? It's Peter of Russia unless there is a spoiler slip:rolleyes:

I'd tell you whether it was a spoiler slip or not, but that, in itself, would be a spoiler slip. :crazyeye:

Even that doesn't give you certainty: he has attacked me a couple of times at Friwndly.
:agree: You can trust Monty about as far as you can throw a sacrificial alter.

Me, Captian, I says kill Peter. Makes for a more interesting game, if you really follow through on your deal with the devil and ally with Monty for the game.

Aye me friends. Playing the next segment and discovered a slight miscalultaion on me part. Apparently Petey old boy simply did not have those shiney Longbows like I originally thought. Aye, I done predict that there be bad times in the northern lands!

Hannibal's Deal with teh Devil: PArt IV

Well me lad's 'n lasses, yer all were barking up de' wrong tree on the advice last post. Aztecio being the devil, nay me friends, he but be an imp demon sent from Belzabub himself to help us, or perhaps tempt us a bit!

Also, as mentioned ealrier, Petey old boy has hisself only archers, somehow that wine must uf' messed up me thinkin' o' bit.

So what's we to do with such a fine army, Aztecio or Petey?

HanD0000.jpg

Aztecio, can have a bit of word with ya'

HanD0001.jpg

Sorry Aztecio, you aint exactly too trustowrthy nor do I trust anyone send from down below, if yer catch me drift. Also, those are some nice looking internal cities there.

But first we has to get rid of some trash

HanD0002.jpg

Plunder and burn!

The next city like a bit more and kept

HanD0003.jpg

With no culture pressure there.

We then took another fine city

HanD0004.jpg

Now let me tell you a bit what happened to old Petey. AZtecio done seen 'dat a 2 front war was a bit more than he could handle so he declared peace with Old Petey soon after we attacked. Now 10 turns later, Old Petey is cautious with us but being part pirate hisself is always looking for a little bit o' profit.

HanD0005.jpg

Aye, Petey you can have those courthouses 'cause me thinks you aint gonna be arround too long to enjoy it.

Now Aztecio has truely shown his colors as a demon from the underworld.

HanD0006.jpg

Aye, the devil is certainly helping the Cartheginians here, giving us our own Warring Demon. And all those nice coastal Aztec cities to protect us from any maurading foreign-like ships attacking us!

So we opened borders with Aztecio, made a simple trade

HanD0007.jpg

Spead out our fine armies abit

HanD0009.jpg

And dialed Old Petey up for a visit.

HanD0010.jpg

Time to put an end to old mother Russia.

First Petey settles a close coastal city right near us

HanD0011.jpg

Plunder and Raze.

We then overran Russia pretty fast

HanD0012.jpg

HanD0013.jpg

Nice land-locked cities which we kept.

Some coastals we had to raze but plan to resettle "off" the coast

HanD0014.jpg

Saint Petey we kept

HanD0015.jpg

And razed the last Russina city.

HanD0016.jpg

SO Petey tis' no more, we has a nice core to the north, and Aztecioa has very little cultural pressure on us!

Oh, I almost forgot, what techs we went after

Engineering/Guilds/Banking/Paper.

Military and gold, tis' a nice mix for land-loving pirates like us!

To Be Continued..........................

Hannibal's Deal with the Devil: PArt IV continued

So the rest of this segment we spent constructing buildings and settling new cities. I bit o' REXing that fine Russian lasses are know to like!

So we did as best we could with that Panama region

HanD0018.jpg

And Pliny makes an announcement that we aint doing so bad in the Smarts department.

HanD0019.jpg

Land to our south tis' a little tricky to settle

HanD0020.jpg

So we did the best we could while leaving those Barb coastal alone. Perhaps Aztecio woul;d like them and strain his economy even more. By the way, I prefer to keep that demon restrained a bit as he is close to that 50% freedom declaration limit and ya' all know it's easy to catch a demon but keeping dem' is alot harder!

We settled a little more to block off Aztecio a little more.

HanD0021.jpg

HanD0022.jpg

So after Banking we have a little decision to make as far as civics. Do we adopt Mercantilism allowing our commerce from Aztecio to fall.

HanD0023.jpg

12 commerce, har har. Aztecio ya' aint got much of an empire do ya' now!

So we adjust civics for a 6 turn anarchy, Argh..........

HanD0024.jpg

Time to build up infrastructure ALOT before we build anymore military!.

We soon get's us a second GP and it's another Prophet!

HanD0025.jpg

Since we have such a week slider rate, we decide to establish

HanD0026.jpg

Aye mates, another shrined holy city! Poorly spread so we needs some Confuscian Monestaries and some missionaries. Meanwhile we are spamming markets/grocers/banks in the south and STILL trying to get courthouses in the north. Aztecio and Petey whipped away most of their populations there once thety saw the might of the approaching Cartheginian army!

So after Paper, we are left with these choices.

HanD0027.jpg

Me thinks a littel education would do our empire just fine! Gunpowder shoul wait a bit until we have someone to shoot muskets at, don't you all think!

SO a peep at our southern empire

HanD0028.jpg

And the north

HanD0029.jpg

Almost all cities are running either a merchant or a artist under MERC to fule our economy. We really need them courthouses to the north, and also that Forbidden Palace!

And taking a look at our cities

HanD0030.jpg

What you call, ALOT of hammers for infrastructure there!

And victory conditions.

HanD0031.jpg

Not so bad! By mine calculations I'm thinking there are 3 other leaders out there, and perhaps there be a Buddhist/Judaist warfest out there as we did notice severla Generals spinging up!

So the grand plan

1) INFRASTRUCTURE

2) LIBERALISM

There now, I think I made that all clear enough!

ARR! Admiral Mad, ye should go for Printing Press. Methinks the extra booty from all yer towns will come in handy.
Why are ye tradin' with Aztecio? He be yer vassal, so ye should demand the stuff ye want from him.
