RR13 - Hearts and Minds

Ok, got it, but I have 2 SG in front and one of them is almost as time consuming as this one :D SO feel free to discuss ;)

Will we get a better offer with more dead units?
Yup. So let's kill some more mayans :p

Hmm - pretty simple at this point.
Peace one civ for AP steal - Zara. AP vote should appear before can declare war.
As soon as war possible declare vs. everyone.
May be to the point of even one junk city in the peace deal.
Get access to the last French city.
Kill the rest of the Mayan units - I wiped most out.
Magic number dropped from 20 to 14 in my set. How much more can you drop it?

Magic number dropped from 20 to 14 in my set. How much more can you drop it?
Hopefully to zero :p But you did a good job. In fact cities seem to be cascading out to us at this point ;) With some luck ( now we are in great part in the hands of the almighty RNG ), this can be over in 3-4 sets, since we have done most of the culture spy spread job so far and the only thing we need to do is to clean out.

BTW, and without seeing the save, I think we can drop all caution regarding nukes now, since GW already kicked out. We just have to nuke water tiles to not get fallout :D

I'll try to see the save today , but no promisses ...

1943 AD
Bagacum can now be attacked in the next war with Brennus and has crossed 50%.
Is this 50% an SG restriction or is it related (somehow) to a game mechanic?

Pop Quiz: Who had the best record in MLB between April 15 and Sept 3rd?

I'll skip the pop quiz since I'm not a yankee :p

The 50% LK is refering to is not a SG restriction, but the lower limit we must reach to get a city either avaliable for a revolt/flip or for it to be a option for a AP assign city vote ( ok , 50% n cities where the only culture sources are you and the other civ ... in the others you just have to be the biggest contributor to tile culture ... and not own the city :p ). What LK meant is that he had acheived the minimum requirements for that city and that he would start making missions against other targets....

P.S

I'm checking the save now. Most of the culture spread is done for the game ... barring some areas in the NW of the continent, our work is basically done in that regard. We did a good job :D

Anyway, I will go nuclear in the next set. the only thing that was preventing me of doing so was the GW danger ... but with GW already active, there is no point on being shy on nuke usage. I'll drop some nukes on pacal until he releases 2 cities ( he will release any of them, but not 2 ) ... most likely 2-3 will do the job.

Like i said in the previous set the AP vote in 2 turns will be the election one, so the next free muffin will hopefully be in 11 turns. I'm so tempted to ask for Paris or Aksum  ... actually Aksum would be nice since Zara is still with vilain unhappiness from the last time he defied the vote ;)

Anyway, I'll war everyone until they toss cities out ... need to beat the 6 city / set pace after all :p

I'll also settle every avaliable spot that it is still open. There are 2 in the Ethiopian land that would help to confine the remaining cities, but the rest is mainly for the shrine and corp HQ cash and the free specs :p

The end is nigh

Don't worry thy, I will need to take the game to the weekend as well :p

Unfortunately the game is not over yet or even close of it :( 9 turns played and only 3 cities ( 2 peace deals and one genuine flip ) ... a lot of revolts though ( 1 per turn in average ( beats right with displayed odds ). The good side is that the flip was one of the culture monsters ...

On other news, we are teching future tech :p

Anyway, I'll try to finish this tomorrow. Emphasis on try ...

Well we should have another AP vote soon. ;) That may get use one more.

Now to wait to see if culture monster was Paris or Askum...

Well, 50 pics of that 12 turns turnset ... that is a record for me :/

Anyway, after the costumary time to get into "the beast" , I pressed enter and got a GSpy and a GE. GSpy still on the rocks, GE would have other use ...

This one deserves a pic:

I still don't understand from where this mayan cav came out. Taking no prisioners probably helped :/

Anyway, costumary turn killing stuff, especially mayan infantries. No revolts as far as my pics go :-(

Next turn my new and fresh settlers grabbed the then avaliable spots:

civ4screenshot1335.jpg

The second is just a excuse to use 2 dead tiles, but the first is a strategical necessity to rob land out of Gondar ( we had tile culture to get the , but no city in reach ). I would settle 2 more cities later ... one in the "city" spot and other in the ethiopian coast halfway between Debre and Gondar.

I've been spreading it during the set. It is giving 27 hammers/turn ... quite nice.

Revolt in Mayan lands:
Spoiler :
civ4screenshot1338.jpg

The AP vote in this turn, as expected, was for AP leader. I obviously voted for Zara .

Peace deal with Pacal:
Spoiler :
civ4screenshot1340.jpg

Couldn't take any more cities in this turn and I was not with intentions of prolonging the war more ( wanted to the AP vote to beat in the last turn of the enforced peace deal ). Why this city? Simple: it was the last Mayan city with a hammer output superior to 1.

We had a revolt in Aksum next turn. Peanuts ...

1952 came next with Superconductors ( avoiding Comps ) and a wardec:
Spoiler :
civ4screenshot1344.jpg

Also stolen Fascism to build Rushmore in this turn ... 5 mad faces are not good.

Another revolt ...

civ4screenshot1346.jpg

In the next turn our border expansion near the French made us fulfill the quest we had:

civ4screenshot1350.jpg

Money for nothing ...

1956 would be a very agitated year: revolts in Uxmal and Bagacum, teched genetics ( straight to Future tech ) and started a new fresh war:
Spoiler :
civ4screenshot1355.jpg

The next turn would see the same medicine delivered to Zara.... we also got a new and fresh GE that same turn.

Some time later, another grab:
Spoiler :
civ4screenshot1360.jpg

And one of worries goes down without much of a fuss:

civ4screenshot1362.jpg

Also the turn of the AP vote:
Spoiler :
civ4screenshot1365.jpg

I chose Chichen Itza ... the vote passed. Pacal really loves to give his caps away. BTW revolts in Uxmal and Tolosa and Future tech #1

Next turn ( the last of the set ), as said above, we got Chichen Itza via AP. But not only:

civ4screenshot1377.jpg

Nukes were instrumental in these 2 ... better said, another glitch of combat in civ IV:
Spoiler :
civ4screenshot1374.jpg

I launched 2 nukes against the highlighted spot. As you can see , it's damage radius ( the 3x3 square centered on the nuke impact point ) will hit French and Ethiopian units and also Avignon ( reducing it's pop and building load will make it more likely to be got in a peace deal ). So for one nuke, I got 10 war success points vs the french and other 10 vs the Ethiopian :D

I ended the set here. And the magic number is ...

:p

Most of what I could say I already said 2 posts below. Besides that ... make industrial centers, supermarkets, airports ... we don't actually need to build much of spies anymore. But that is small change . I think that at this point we could win with every city in wealth :p

Okay, I'll try to play some turns this weekend. Any pointers besides redeclaring and emptying cities when possible? Is the AP still a useful tool or will it be defied now anyways?

Well, to cut chase:

- We are in forced peace with everyone but pacal. Brennus one should finish in 5 turns or so, the others were made in the last turn of the turnset. I'm not sure if warring pacal now is of any usefulness, since he only has one land unit and it is in a revolting city... and AFAIK Brennus might not live other 5 turns, given his 2 remaining cities are both revolting. So, no war with Ethiopia and France in 10 turns , and no certainties of usefulness of the other 2 wars ... so do as the situation calls.

- The AP usefulness now is restricted to 3 cities: the 2 remaining mayan cities and Gondar. Pacal has been very undefiant, so you might gie it a go against him. OTOH the next vote will happen before the forced peace with Ethiopia ends and , as much stupid as this might look, the code does not exclude a AI civ from not defying a resolution that gives away it's last city :p ... so you might also try to kill Zara via AP  Anyway, the AP will still be probably useful atleast for this set.

- Nukes are your friend. I underused them in my set, though. They will help the AI giving cities away by adding war success, killing garrisons in cities you can't reach yet ( not a point now, but it was in my set ) and decreasing the cities value by killing pop and destroying buildings. Just be careful of nuking the cities in a way that you don't have to clean a lot of fallout or hurt our units. Most of our nukes are near france, except one sub packed with then near the Mayan cap.

- Spread our corps ( yup, corps ... I founded mining Inc. Good for cities building wealth :p ) and religions. There is some work to be done in that sector, since we got 4 cities in the last turn of my set.

- The cities that are empty already have garrisons en route. And there are already workers going to clean the fallout in the north.

- Steal the treasury of the AI. good way to fund corp spread, and don't actually need to spread more culture. To be honest I do not know that to do with the sliders at this point... no actual need for research, EP, culture or cash :D

- Keep the research in future tech. AP is still useful , so no need for MM and sankore + SM are huge for us, so no computers ... computers would actually open us robotics, that would gie us a better military, but again, I have not lost a single unit in my set :p

I'll update the report later anyway.

Sound like the blow out trend has continued. ;)

Last few sets have grabbed an absurd amount of cities.

Is there any point in spreading corps and religion besides maxing our score? I mean, at this point I don't see how that'll help to get flips sooner. Or do you just want me to waste my time on senseless micro? :p

Updated the report.

I want ... wait , I DEMAND that you spend your time in senseless micro  Just kidding :p well Avignon was nuked ,so corps there will surely help, but the rest ... is like I said in the report: I think we can win with all the queues on wealth at this point :D

That's one bloody awful magic number you left me with. :vomit:

Now I'll just ignore your micro demands and get rid of that CR7 asap! :D

Good change I've played my last set.

Now which give dies next - 4 crappy ones left. Zara is looking good. ;)

Okay, as there's really nothing else to do than clean out very scarce enemy units and pray to the RNG God went ahead and played no less than 20 turns. Got 3 flips in the first 10 turns (Docowhateverorum, Calakmul and Paris) which was fair enough, but in the past 10 turns nothing, so somebody with a better RNG installed better finish this off! I think with 4 cities each at nearly 10% flip chance during 10 turns the chance of not getting anything should be very close to zero (okay, got just this 1 revolt in Gondar), but whatever.
Did get the AP vote, asked for Calakmul but Pacal defied. It flipped the turn after. All AIs are left with 1 city, so basically we won't get anything in peace deals. We're at war with all AIs and their units are being cleaned. We could peace and hope for the AP and what rolo described with an AI gifting his last city away, but with the defy I got at 2 cities I doubt much if it works. In fact, I got another AP vote being at war with everyone, so nothing useful came up, but couldn't resist fighting the infidel DG with our brothers Pacal and Zara. :p

Somebody get this over with, I consider this a win whatever happens in the next 99 turns. The turns-left counter (99) ominously has appeared!

Queued whatever came up in cities. We even got some space parts built. Global warming makes us lose some pop as if it matters.

Did check the military screen every turn for clearance duties.
