3080:
A babarian uprising occured. Thanks it didn't happened next to our border.

3040:
BW in and we have copper nearby!!! :wohoo: The only problem would be, that we have to settle a city north of our cap to grab in a nearer future:
Spoiler :
Screen02.jpg

But somehow we're really really lucky: Somewhere in the middle of the land we want to settle next another copper came in sight:
Spoiler :
Screen03.jpg

So next tech became Masonry and the exploring warrior went back into that area to keep an eye on it. And yes I revolted to slavery!

3000:
Look at this:

:eek::eek::eek::eek:
OK seems Ragnar won't beat us to the FP site!

Finished the turn our settler could get whipped but I left this to the next player, as I'm not that sure whether we still need to be that fast to set us back to size 1..
Here's the update of our lands:
The north:

The south:

Enjoy the dotmapping!:p

Barbs , barbs , lovely barbs :D From what I see they razed Rags cap ( that or the city is still in revolt ) since we can't see the borders of the now barb city. So we will need to settle that spot as soon as it is feasible.

Now on :gripe: : we don't need the corn roaded :p The time you lost roading to the corn could had been used to mine the sheep and now we would be working 2 improved tiles .

Anyway, we need to decide where we want to settle city # 2 We should also prepare for the fact that we might be alone with Izzy from now on , since no one else showed up.

So, we finish our settler and then do something to let the city grow a little ...

Anyway, nocho is on the move so he can't play. That put's Silu up if he shows in the next 24 h. if not, jerrymander can pick it.

You're damn right but take this in my defence: It would have taken 2 turns after finishing farming the corn and another one to get back into the forest to chop.. That would have meant one turn into the mine 3 moving the worker around. Unfortunately I miscalculated the whip (somehow I calculated 45 hammers a pop..) so there was no way to finish another improvement before the chop would have been necessary. Therefore I decided to rather take the road (finishing the turn BW came in) than 3 useless turns of moving the worker..
So right now you still can :spank: me for being such a boon..

Gotta love those Vedic Aryans! If we beat Izzy to the whole flood plain area this can hardly be lost. :p Will those Aryan keep wandering about? We might want to fogbust a bit.

Nice job with the Aryans, I played a game one time where FOUR barbarian uprisings occurred... I was blessed to have the Great Wall, but none of them happened to me.

I'm guessing that that barb event is what took Ragnar down. IIRC, the barbs in the uprising event don't garrison the city, but the regular barbs will eventually head there to do that (or Izzy will send something to take it). I would send a unit asap for a free city. That's a pretty sweet Deus Ex Machinae.

RIP Ragnar, death by RNG. :(

If we settle on the desert hill 2S of the cow we could have a very, very nice cottage city... but it will be forever unhealthy.

P.S Check the place where rags cap used to be. I'm pretty sure the barbs razed it ( maybe auto raze? :dunno: ) and maybe it is better for us to settle there ... you know the drill, starting spots are "beautified" ;)

Got it, and got it. ;]

T31 - Judaism founded IDL. Whipped Settler, building another Warrior, then a Worker.

T32 - Nidaros (Viking capital) confirmed razed.

T33 -

T34 - Settler and Masonry. Put Animal Husbandry on for the sheep and cow. Edirne founded. Building a Worker. Will eventually be a sick commerce city...

One thing I don't like about floodplains is that they invariably have useless desert tiles around them. :(

T35 -

T36 -

T37 -

T38 - Ragnar's capital site fully scouted out and it's generally uninteresting. I don't recommend settling here. Two wine, a pig, a spice, and only one unforested hill that may hold metal. (Excluding the original capital square, which may also have metal.)

T39 - Beat the crap out of some Barbarian Warriors.

T40 - Barcelona founded IDL.

T41 -

T42 - Whipped Worker in Istanbul.

Nothing else happened, so I ended it after AH. (T48) Buil a quarry and a road to the sheep, working on replacing a forest with a farm to speed up the settler in Istanbul. Probably could have just chopped the forest and then built the farm, though.

Here's a dotmap: :P (I literally spent about 3 seconds doing it, just zoomed out and clicked.)

I'm not an exceptional micromanager so I'm probably a lot worse early game than most of you. Also, this land is really, really nice in my opinion. With Ragnar gone I think we should aim to shut out Isabella from as much of the northern end of this continent as possible.

I also made an executive decision with Edirne, because there was no discussion about it. :mischief:

I still won't have my regular civ comp installed for some more days but I'll give it a shot on my laptop tomorrow evening. If it won't hang up me this is a got-it, otherwise tomorrow evening a un-got-it will follow. :p

I think we need myst first for some monuments. Also getting access to some copper soonish would be convenient, otherwise we'll have to fight off barbs with warriors for too long. I'd even be tempted to settle immediately 1W of the northern copper to hook it up asap. After that maybe a city 2W of the southern copper just to make that dot riverside. Or take that spot first if we think we can wait for a monument to be whipped and the borders popped.

Those sheep should get pastured soon, the cap at least to size 4 before continuing settlers. Maybe spam some more warriors for fogbusting duty till then.

With Ragnar completely out we have a lot of land , but also a lot of barb issues ( not mentioning that we will need to deal with Izzy ). We will need some spawnbusting , and some border pops to deal with the barbs alone...

Techwise, I guess this is clearly a case for pottery -> writing , unless we want to get some monuments for border pops fast ...

I am not a lover of dot maps ,but jerry, you don't like rivers , no ? :p Rivers are unpillageable roads after all ;) The more southern city is a pipe dream : we will have surely issues with securing that rice while Madrid is in Spanish hands and that alone makes it quite iffy. Atleast i would move the city near rags ex-cap 1 N ...

As silu looks to be in lurker mode , this is the new roster.

r_rolo1
Thy_Spellcraft
nocho -UP and sorta of got it
Jerrymander -just played
Trynthlas -on deck
Ichabod

Alternates

Oh no, I like rivers, I just rarely factor in the +2 health from settling on them. Mind, the dotmap is nothing concrete, just possibilities.

Since rolo said it was a clear case for pottery-writing, I did just that. :p Took the liberty of continuing till writing was in.

Managed to settle 2 cities, the pig/rice spot near Ragnar's former cap and the site I proposed, 2W of the southern copper. Built some warriors for fogbusting purposes, but I'll feel better once we finally have a bronze connected. A woody1 warrior got an extra upgrade to woody2 and he's the lone scouting unit. Even survived a double attack by archer and warrior on the same turn. He's healing in the far south-west.

Also built/whipped some granaries and now that writing is in queued up several libraries, it would be nice to get some culture going!

Just at 2 cities but right after Istanbul's 2nd border pop we got the message we were the biggest civ out there.:lol: Right now our burgeoning little empire looks like this.

Lurker Comment:

Maybe you'll get lucky and that tile will have oil or something

Opened the save to look at the continent, and Isabella has a large land advantage on us, as far as expansion goes. :l

No time tonight, but I will get to my round tomorrow. Please offer advice before then so I don't mess up too badly! :p
Whip the libraries in Edirne and Ankara asap. Bursa needs one asap as well, so the overflow of the granary whip should go into a library that needs to be whipped as well. I'd let the capital grow to its happy cap while building the library, then resume settler duty.

I'd probably settle 1W of the warrior on the banana next, for blocking purposes. The incense can be taken later with a city that takes the clams. That banana-warrior is spawnbusting by the way, so I'd not move it for now. On spawnbusting, I'd move the warrior 3W2S of Bursa 2W1S from where it's now on a jungle tile. Ankara might be in most danger from barb attack, especially before it pops borders. Be weary of that, maybe get another warrior out. Some chops may help here. Thereafter Ankara may be a good candidate for hiring 2 scientists, when at size 4.

It will take a bit before we control the copper, but it'd help if you already road the tile and make a road connection towards it in the mean time.

On tech, don't have a clear preference. Queued mysticism in case we still want to make a shot at the Oracle, though we might be late for that (didn't check whether it's even gone already...). Might wanna go through poly to open up some marble wonders and have that out of the way for aesth/literature later. Fishing/sailing for trade along rivers won't be a bad option either, though for now we can simply make road connections.

EDIT: Since we're starting on libraries everywhere and have not that immediate tech needs, might as well shut of research until those libs are out, i.e. go binary.
