RSG5 Emperor 20K

Pre-turn (900 AD) - Disband some Swordsmen; we're paying too much unit support.
I also tweak builds, changing some Lib builds in places I think they're not going to be worth it and choosing more Workers in places.

910 - I get a few tiles railed around Pyongyang.

920 - ditto.
Incas want to trade WMs. I get a gold from them out of the deal.

930 - Sumeria and the Hittites have Mil Trad.
HWacha kills Celtic LB

940 - Industrialization > Electricity
I cancel the lux deal with Sumeria now that it's run for 20 turns.
Up lux spending to 20%
Declare war!
Also, the Hittites are partway to Physics. A deal involving MT and Econ went from 6gpt last turn to 3gpt now. I take it.

Sumeria kills one MDI and captures a Worker.
Celts land a LB next to our capital.
Our people want the Military Academy
Bach's > Factory

950 - Crusader forces ACav to retreat; Knight finishes it off
Isin:
Knight kills Cav
Knight kills EW
Knight kills EW and the city is ours.
Seoul: Horseman kills LB

960 -
Coal Plant > Newton

970 - Aydin:
Knight retreats x2
Knight kills Musket
Knight dies to Cav
Knight dies to Cav
City holds

We lose a Hwacha, a Knight, and a Sword to Sumerian counterattacks.
Sumeria completes Smith's

980 -
Aydin part 2:
Cav kills ACav
Knight kills EW
Cav dies to EW :wallbash:
Cav kills EW and takes the city.

New Pusan captured by ACav that comes out of the fog!

Umma riots
Aydin riots

990 -

Lose two Cavs retaking new Pusan.
Our position is weak, but I think it'll turn around in the next couple of turns.

Lose Cav and two MDIs with the fall of Nemausus

1000 -

I'm leaving units unmoved here. If I were playing another 10 turns, I'd retake Nemausus, then go after Zabalam to shorten the front. With a steady front at Umma/Zabalam (and a new town between them -- to lock in the Ivory), I'd raid Marad with the Army stack and send Cavs south from New Pusan to conquer that peninsula -- Istanbul has Gems we can use.

Curious why we're warring with sumeria. Luxes, security, throw them off the wonder/culture path, fun? I kind of figured railing the country was a priority.
I have the save unless someone else is up. I'll try to get a 10 turn set in within a week.

I wanted to take three luxes from them -- silks, gems, and ivory. Also, they've stolen several wonders from us, so they need to be taken down a notch.

Also, fun :hammer:

I finished 5 turns. I can psot them for the next player or continue.

One question came up. I finished electricty and can get scientific method in 4 running a deficit. I have a palace prebuild for ToE, but it will waste a bunch of shileds. I can snag Universal Suffrage to avoid wastage, which may help with the happiness and is 4 culture, but it'll put us out of synch with grabbing ToE as soon as we get scientific method. I'm inclined to grab it as we're advanced techwise.

If we get palace in 4 and learn scientific method in 4, do we complete the tech and have a chance to change the build or are we stuck with an unwanted palace?

Go ahead and get US. In terms of culture, ToE is no better. We can learn some other techs while building ToE (RP, corporation for starters)

If you have a prebuild that finishes in 4 turns and a tech that finishes in 4 turns, you learn the tech first and can swap the build to something else.

Not my finest turnset. There were a lot of turns where I would take a city with cavs only to lose ti in the IBT to cav from the fog of war. There was a large stack of workers that somehow were forified and were neglected. I was unsure what the crusader army's task was- was it there to capture cities? It was a little weak for that with inadequate seperate units to hold a city. It was too slow to effectively pillage, so it also went underutilized. There were a lot of entertainers used to keep cities from rioting which I had to continue to keep research up, not my favoirite.
I ended up playing 11 1/2 turns just to finish the #$% war. Sorry.

I also suffered a PC crash also without saving my turn log so there's some blanks.

Here it is:
Spoiler :
Turn 215

New Ulsan to Harbor instead of library, same deal.New Wonsan from Market to Hwacha, corrupt. Rataw Cor switch to Frigate from Library.

Micromanage Scientific method in 1 +343 GPT
Take with cav army. Position cavs to take Istanbul and the gems.

Seoul Cav>cav Pusan Factory>rifle Cheju cav>factory Inchon,Chongfu, Paegon,New Pyongyang, switch to aquaduct Suwon switch to aqua Chinje worker>hwacha
Istanbul falls to cav army and 2 cavs with no losses. We gain the GL and gems. Starts library to avoid flip
Assault on Nemausus kills 3 defenders, but city doesn't fall.

IBT
Counter attack at Nemausus kills a cav, 1 retreat. LB dies attacking eCav and generates leader! Leader is destroyed however as LB's chew up remaining cavs. Sigh

Turn 226
Goldern Age ends
Take Edrine with no losses. Offer peace and get Curovernum out of it.

On the plus side, I managed to punish the Sumerians, kept the tech pace up, built Universal Suffrage with its 4 culture. The border is ugly, I admit, but we have gems now and Umma if it expands, will have ivory.

The next player should probably settle the gaps, and secure the ivory by settlement or culture expansion. We have ToE in 3 or 4 and replaceable parts in 5, I beleive. We should MM to finsih RP as we get the ToE to avoid wasting the free tech. I assume we'll build Hoovers in our wonder city even though it's only 1 culture.

Positive criticism welcome!

Like I said, " I assume we'll build Hoovers in our wonder city even though it's only 2 culture.":mischief:

Thanks Spoonwood

Yes, we need to build Hoover. There isn't much else to build except for a couple of small wonders.

Building US and setting up ToE sounds good. War is just a side issue here.

I've got the save.

Sorry, real life swallowed me up for a while.

Turn 0
MM to get RP in 3. Sell maps and silks.
turn 1:
Rail.
turn 2:
Rail. Build New Kaesong.
IBT: Learn RP. Build ToE, learn AT, Electronics. Start the Corporation. Start Hoover Dam. Umma flips.
Turn 3: Rail. We have rubber. Swap some builds towards stock exchanges.
Turn 4: Istanbul flips, Hittites learn steam power.
Turn 5: Sell steam power to Russian, Sumeria. Erech flips.
turn 6: Isin flips, taking silks with it. Learn corporation, start refining.
turn 7: Rail
turn 8: Rail
turn 9: Rail
turn 10: Rail

Pyongyang finishes Hoover in 2. We need to sell the coal plant and put the engineers back to working the lake so Pyongyang doesn't starve. (We lost shields because of pollution. If we don't get hit again, we'll be okay.) Then it should start military academy, and then wall street. For wall street, we need 5 stock exchanges. Seoul has one. Pusan and Nanpo are building them. Wonsan and Cheju are working on banks; then they should start stock exchanges. If we run into any money, we should rush the banks/stock exchanges. If we don't get any money, Pyongyang can build a market, a bank (short rushed), and a stock exchange. Then Pyongyang can build an army, and then the Pentagon. We are then out of builds until the modern age, unless somebody learns espionage or sanitation for us (very unlikely).

I've built some more towns. We should continue this, as we are short on unit support. We may also want to join some workers once the railing is done.

I got a lot of flips to Sumeria, unfortunately.

Bad luck with the flips. We lost the luxes I assume?

Elephantium playing?

I forget, can we sell a bank after the stock exchange is built? Do we want to push research to get a jump on modern techs, especially to build UN to deny the AI? Alternatively, at this point should we go 0% research to slow things down to accrue culture before an AI space race?

We can sell the banks, but unless we can run 100% science, it isn't worth it. Even at 10% going into the treasury, we'll make money off the banks and stock exchanges.

We have to push as hard as we can to get to modern techs, because we have no culture to build until then. The UN is good, not to deny the AI, but because it is 4 cpt. I usually go computers - miniaturization - genetics - fission to try to use SETI as a prebuild for the Internet.

Turn 10 - the Sumerians are making me nervous with their troop movements, so I put our military in place to defend the border cities.
