Rubber Resource

Hi, I'm new here :). I need some guidance on where to place the "Rubber_Resource.pcx" & "Rubber_Shadow.pcx" files. In the instructions it says "Resource and Shadow folder"?.

The first two files ("rubberlarge.pcx" & "rubbersmall.pcx") are placed in the "C:\Games\Civilization 3\Art\Civilopedia\Icons\resources" folder, but what about the rest of them?.

you're going to have to copy the resources.pcx and resource_shadows.pcx (or something to that effect) into your mod's art folder. Then you open them up, and copy the resources onto the file.

Oh, and welcome to the forum [party]

Thanks for replying. So I just need to rename "Rubber_Resource.pcx" & "Rubber_Shadow.pcx" to "resources.pcx" & resources_shadows.pcx" then overwrite the originals?. By the way, I've got the entire art folder backed up, so I'm not worried. Oh, and I'm not using a mod I just want to change the look of CivIII Gold a bit.

No, you don't rename. Open up the files, and copy the rubber pictures onto the same place as the originals in the proper resources.pcx file :)

I'm confused . So I open up the original "resources.pcx" & the copy the modified "Rubber_Resource.pcx" into the opened image?. That just overwrites the image, I'm not able to add to it.

I'm using "Irfanview" as my image editor.

Illuminous... The Rubber Resource is copied and pasted on to your "resources.pcx" file and the Shadow is copied and pasted on to your "resources_shadows.pcx" file. Both of those Files are in your Game Art Folder.

The Resource and the Shadow are pasted on different files but on the same Frame Number on their files so they will go together in the game.

IF you Upload Your units_32.pcx file and let me know the Specific Rubber Resource you want on it. I will add it and get it back to you.

Okay I understand now, but how exact do you need to be in lining up the new image onto the tire and shadow frame?. I'd perfer you (the modder) do it ;). I'll upload the file for you, but why do you need the "units_32.pcx"?.

Would you mind doing the same thing with the aluminum resource you created, for me also?. Thanks a alot!. :D

I provided everything for you in the zip file, including your rubber and aluminum resource files.

The default rubber pcx is fine.

Illuminous... sorry, I meant your resources.pcx" file and "resources_shadows.pcx file.

I am so accustomed to doing units_32.pcx favors, I stated that.

OK... you added the Correct Files...I will get them back to to you in a few minutes.

Illuminous... here are your Files. I added the small Aluminum and original Rubber Resources and Shadows.
I have 5 Variations of the Rubber Resource. The Last one is a combination of a Drop of Rubber combined with the Rubber Tree and Bowl of rubber. Some people preferred to be able to see the tree among the Other Trees for example. Personally, I believe it is ok for the Rubber Tree to blend in with other Trees and Jungle because it would in reality. The Bowl of Rubber can be seen on all terrain.

I assume you have the Civilopedia Large and Small Icons I made for these Resources already.

I tried it out but it doesn't show up, I still see tires. However, it does show up in the Civilopedia. Do I need to add the same files into the PTW directories too?.

resources.pcx and resources_shadows.pcx placed in "C:\Games\Civilization 3\Art\".

rubberlarge.pcx and rubbersmall.pcx placed in "C:\Games\Civilization 3\Art\Civilopedia\Icons\resources".

You changed the vanilla folder, and the conquests folder remains unchanged.

It should go in this folder C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Conquests\art

The game will search in the conquests folder first, if it doesn't find it then it will search the PTW folder and last it will search the Civ vanilla folder.
