Rule Suggestions and Clarifications

can we cut down the number of sticky threads? we have so many stickies here that i have to scroll down to the first non-sticky one :-)

Rule Suggestion:

Make a "RPG Bank Account." This will mainly what we call the black hole today. What we can do is have all taxes/tile sales etc. inserted into this account. As the account grows it can start to handle paying out salary's every turn. This account can go as far down in bankrupct has possible.

The main idea of this is to give the people a "Feeling" of where the money is coming from. I mean it just disappear's into the middle of no where? This is one of those: "I won't believe it till I see it with my own eye's," things.

Any comments?

I beleve we shoud go with Strider's Suggestion.

Nope. That's just more record keeping and banking for no real benefit. It also won't work at all. We do not have enough sales to support our salaries.

How exactly do we know that? I estimate that we are taking about 4000g for salaries.

We take about 50g for army upkeep
About 500g for taxes (sometimes 1000g)
Possible 4000g for each land avaiblity (and I think it's more than that)
And a good 7000g for miscallenious. (troops buying etc.)

I think it would of course depend on how much people is buying stuff. This will also give us a hint on how are economy is doing etc. (if the account lose's more than ordinarily) Also as I said..... It's alot easier to figure that the money is coming and going from an account then know that it's going into the middle of no where. This is just the black hole put down in numbers and letters.

Money from land availabilities goes to the Land Office employees so don't count that. Except for your one time purchase of troops there has never been more than 400g spent in a chat period on troops. That also goes away when we discover Nationalism as the Conflict rules stop at that point. Your talking about taking in around a 1000g to pay out over 4000g. It just doesn't work.

We already know how our economy is doing. That is on the summary page of the BOV Excel file after each update.

The "cloud" is more than what we experience as players. It includes the many thousands of plebians, businesses, soldiers, towns, villages, etc of our nation.

In any case, we need to make the rules less complex and we need to make less record keeping necessary. My workload here is astronomical and there is simply no room for more and I have no confidence that anybody will step up to take ownership of additional tasks, seeing as we cannot get people to step up to take ownership of existing tasks.

uhm for the land thing how about half goes to the land manager and half to the general people or is that how its done already?

how about from the big cloud we give al the citizens of Fanatika a permanent 2500 gold christmas present?

Land sales are 12.5% to the Land Office Manager, 12.5% to the Land Office Surveyors and 75% distributed to landowners in the province of sale.

A Christmas present is a nice idea but we've already got loads and loads of cash sitting in bank accounts. Putting more in there just continues to devalue the gold piece.

well the reason i had this idea is because no-one seems to be doing anything with their money except sitting on it which is not neccesarily a bad thing just people are starting to lose interest we need to come up with a way for people to get back into the game

Bank balances are updated the day (or two) after each chat turn. You can view summary info or download an Excel file with account details in the first post of the Bank of Valhalla thread.

Items that you own are tracked in the Item Manager thread, though that's been a bit slow for updates lately.

as has our conflict manager
can anyone else think of away to increase interest in the rpg we could ask Tf to advertise it on the main page

1st idea to increase spending:

* regular food and drink purchase needed!
lets say every citizen has to sign a subscription for drinks and food. we set a max-minimum price fixed (like 4g/tc for each drink and food), so every store selling food- or drink subscriptions must have a item for subscription at that price (minimum subscription).
now what happens if one does not order a subscription?
1) after 1 TC, he is thirsty/hungry. his stats for the rpg are downed by 25% of their original value
2) after 2 TC's he is very thirsty/hungry. his stats for the rpg are downed by 50% of their original value
3) after 3 TC's he is almost dying of thisrt/hunger, so his stats are 0'ed. he can not purchase anything as he cant moove without pain. he can not moove around nor work any more
4) after 4 TC's he is considered as died of thirst/hunger. his posessions are auctioned off and his account is deleted. tiles are added to the next availability. if he wants to reenter the rpg he has to start plain.

* travel and transportation cost
travaling costs money. same with selling things over provincial borders.
details have to be worked out, but i could imaging something as for example 50gold for each crossed provincial border for transportation and 10gold for travel... mooving to another city would cost like transportation for businesses, unless all items are "left behind".

the only problem with those ideas is that they mean work...

Anything that increases complexity and record keeping has an automatic black mark. Forcing purchases is not the way to go. If you want to do that simply reduce everybody's salary by 10g and give an extra 100g per chat to anybody owning a restaurant.

yes we need to make it fun for people to spend their money how about the possibibility of blades breaking at tournaments horses having to be put down at races and so on thus people would have to buy some more of whatever and also clothes wearing out
