Hi

I've just installed ubuntu and was considering using a windows emulator to run Civ4 warlords...
Any one got any tips before I try it out, or point towards an existing thread

Cedega is supposed to run at least Civilization 4 on linux, though not necessarily its expansions. You need to buy at least a 3 month subscription of $5/month though.
I tried to get it to run with Wine but at the time I did it it would not work. Now there are reports that it might work with some glitches, but I have not gone back to test it, but maybe I should...
If you get it to run tell me - I might use Windows even less :)

Honestly, trying to run DX-centered games on Linux is like trying to teach a Chinese person Greek. You're best off just making a mini-partition to run it and any other games that hate Linux.

Hi, I don't know about warlord but I was able to run civ4 (vanilla) in linux using the tutorial below

http://tombuntu.com/index.php/2007/06/10/special-civilization-iv-playable-on-linux/

other tips on how to run civ4 in linux be read in the wine application db

http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=5254

The main problem I have is that cities and resources are black but according to one poster in the wine applications db, this problem is solved in wine version 0.9.47. I am now trying to learn how to upgrade my wine version.

Hope this helps.
