Safe spaces for everyone?

They're the same age.

Oh, I just love when boomers say that kind of stuff because I'm always like "you used to literally lynch black people for coming into your safe spaces"

Boomers came of age during/after the civil rights movement?

Lynchings were going on at the same time as the civil rights movement

And if a lynching happened today, would Lexicus start using "you're literally lynching black people for coming into your safe spaces" as an argument against everybody who disagrees with his position from tomorrow on?

No, I would use it as an argument to demonstrate the hypocrisy of people who say things like "when I was your age we didn't have safe spaces"

Because we've always had safe spaces. And people who rant about safe spaces aren't really against safe spaces in general, just certain kinds.

1.) It's a non-argument as the word "safe space" is clearly used in the sense of "Spaces where people don't get their opinions challenged", "Spaces where only certain opinions can be uttered", or something along those lines, not safe spaces as in "A space where somebody else isn't allowed in".
2.) Lynchings were not a common thing at the time Baby Boombers were becoming adults.

It really is a nonargument. Also attempting to blame an entire generation for the actions of a few people, most of whom weren't even in that generation, is simply contemptible and reflects poorly upon the character of the poster making such an outlandish claim.

Sound agreeable. Like I would would not like be compared to people of my age.

Okay, and people using this sense of the word 'safe space' are complete morons. End of discussion, yeah?

safe spaces are like segregation....separate but EQUAL!!! :grouphug:

Now tell that to the boomers.

CivGeneral is 34, he's not even close to being a boomer.

My main problem with the boomers (different than what the others in this thread are saying) is how obnoxious they are with their music. I don't think there's another generation of people in the entire history of the world to think they single-handedly came up with all the best music. I'm only barely exaggerating here.

Boomers decided to give all their kids trophies at sports because they were terrible parents and couldn't handle the task of parenting a disappointed child. Then they turned around and decided it was their kids' faults that they themselves invented the participation trophy.

Millennial entitlement was an idea invented by Boomers to try to cover for the fact that they almost universally failed miserably at parenting. To the extent it's even a thing it would be their fault anyways, right?

@Lexicus Well, I asked because I've only encountered this term in CFC... and based on this exposure I've come to understand it pretty much like Valessa defined it...
