Saints 1 - A Genuine Prick

Turn 1

I go through our cities and make slight adjustements. For example, lot's of specialist were put to work cottages.

Next thing I notice is that we are lacking money. I have to say that I take no pleasure for doing this...

...if you compare it to this

Looks like Julius is trying to be clever, he has built cities on top of all three iron sources. Guess we need to deal with praets for a while longer.

Turn 2

I'm thrilled!

saints028.jpg

Wang is clever enough to realize our lack of galleons. Oh well, I had to try

Turn 3

We get a Great Scientist who does the obvious. We are almost half way to bring our prickiness to other continents!

saints030.jpg

I decided to settle our next city little closer to home. Idea behind this is to save maintainance, but two additional settlers are being built despite of it ;)

Turn 4

On the war front, I continue to collect money with the best way possible  I decided to keep on razing as the land isn't that great and can wait.

This attack earns us a Great General, but I'm puzzled on what to do with him. I just sent him to Madrid to wait, maybe to do some military instructing there?

Turn 9

Turn 12

We complete Civil Service and continue to Astronomy. Our citizens are not happy with our new goverment and revolt for two turns. Bastards will pay for this (later...)!

Turn 16

Turn 20

Is there a better way to end round than this?

saints035.jpg

So, here's what's left of pathetic Julius.

saints036.jpg

And here's couple of proposed sites with settlers nearby.

Galleons, here we come!

Sorry guys, I need a skip too. I've been busy, and there's no way I'm going to get any less busy anytime soon.

The romans are no more.Rome fell 1080, Cumas 1095, and Assyrian 1115. Finally the last Roman city fell in 1150. All these cities were razed, and I also razed the barbarian city west of Madrid.

I activated one of the settler I inherited and founded Otrar. To get some culture going I build a monastery in Karakorum and send a missionary to spread religion there.

saints12.jpg

I founded a new city in the old Roman territory. It is far away, but it has lots of food and a gold mine so it should soon make money. The surviving Roman slaves are busy chopping trees for a courthouse, and I think we should build the forbidden palace there too. Please send a missionary this way soon for culture, so we can start working the gold mine.

We got Astronomy, and we have one galleon with more on the way. The veteran army from the Roman wars is heading back to board the new ships. Off to Egypt, perhaps?

The economy is a bit bad right now, so some MM for gold is a good idea. I'm also building lots of new cottages.

Great progress :) Normally I've played after Yena, but you can skip me this time as I've just played :)

So, really boring set. I didn't even get to be really prickish because nothing happened.

Summary: I built stuff and got the army in place for a sea invasion. *snore*

I improved the economy a bit, we're running 50% science at -12/turn, but can afford it thanks to my attempt at building the great library, which we were beaten to. Also, we have OB with Gilgamesh (helped cash a LOT from the trade routes) and he's giving us marble for free...I would have demanded but it wasn't an option so I just asked and he said yes  While we have it, we should build the NE somewhere...really need to get a good GP farm churning out some people for us. I already built the HE in the capitol.

Anyway, next turnset I'd say can go wipe out egypt, or at least start the process.

My plan for my set? Burn the Egyptian islands. Those few that look worth it to keep will be kept.

I start off by getting the troops sailing to the islands. Half of the soldiers and siege weapons head to the eastern part, the other half to the western part. War starts on turn two. On said turn, I captured a worker and landed the forces. Took Hieraconpolis on the third turn, but burnt it since it kind of sucked. Burned Avaris on the next turn. No attacks really on the fifth turn. However, Gilgy built a city on the site of an Egyptian one I burned. He pisses me off. We’ll need revenge By my sixth turn, all the Egyptian islands were removed. Finished what we were researching (I forgot), and began banking for economic purposes. The troops are being gathered up to sail to the Egyptian mainland. On my 11th turn, they arrived. On the next one, I burned Alexandria at the cost of a Trebuchet. On my final turn, the troops were closing in on Memphis. Looks like the next person will have some fun.
