Saints 1 - A Genuine Prick

Not much going on. Played 17, until Optics came in. Razed a barb city, and two more spawned near the end of my turnset. Built Triremes close to home (we have 5 now) and ordered Courthouses elsewhere--they can be whipped soon. Our Roman Galley was a phenomenal prick until it was sunk in the next to last turn by a barb.

I researched Machinery for Optics, and whipped Courthouses when they they only costed 2 people. I saw that the Colossus was still available and we will get it on the next turn. I also completed the trireme quest and got +2 gold in each harbour, so I started harbours in the coastal cities. Two triremes are heading to Julius to annoy him as much as possible (my prickish move).

With the economy improving I settled another city south of Madrid.

No sign of Roman troops yet, but I killed some barbs. I had rotten luck with the RPN, and lots two keshiks at >90% odds a barb archers , so I had to start building replacements.

Played 21 turns until the new GP came, and we got a GS. We should discuss what to do with him. He can only light-bulb Mathematics, so perhaps we should keep him until something better becomes available?

Will be travelling, so please skip me until November 20.

I'm also going to need a skip for the weekend. I think the scientist should build us an academy.

Looks like it's just you and me, Try, so take your time :)

I like an Academy in Ulundi, as that's likely to be our Oxford + Wall St.

No time for a real report, but here's the highlights:

Re-adjusted city tiles and specialists for growth/stagnation where appropriate (it needs to be done again now, I'm sure). Built some more workers over the course of the turnset since we're pretty short on them. Am building a settler to go NW of Madrid to get Iron, since we don't have it (aka we can't build crossbows or maces until we get it)

Caesar is spamming cities near us, and has praets. Made peace for 15 gold. woo.

Tech'd machinery (to finish) then Math, Construction for cats. Started Optics

Prickishly demanded 100 gold from Caesar and got it.

Razed a barb city.

Built harbors in most cities, economy is in better shape now.

Started building catapults and war elephants to smash mr. roman dude.

Got it. What shall I do, though? Continue building military? Heaven knows I've never been very good at actually using the army.

I recommend finishing optics (to go and discover our other vict...I mean friends), followed by engineering. If you've still got more to do after that, start Civil Service

Be sure to settle near the iron NW of Madrid and get it hooked up.

Build a nice force of catapults and war elephants until we get iron, at which point move on to crossbowmen and macemen (once they're available).

You may want to declare war, but I wouldn't do so without at least 5-6 cats ready to go along with 2-3 elephants and the rest of the troops we already have available.

I'm back.

This island is boring, hope we'll find someone else to pick on soon. The problem is that astronomy for a decent navy is many, many turns away.

Something is wrong here. :(

Raised a barbarian city.

Sadly, that was my first turn. Six turns later, optics was completed, and I switched production of Karokorum to the ship that can actually cross water. Our domination of the seas will soon begin!

Julius offered us 220 gold for polytheism, but I’m not allowed to accept deals, so frick you, Jules!

We’ve been given a quest to build a lot of stupid Colloseums. If I’m not mistaken, this quest gives our people happiness. Yeah, screw that!

Our caraval is complete some number of turns latter, and he is sent north, since south is ice! And oh the irony, I razed a barb city where our iron city was going, but now its back. I guess I’ll send a reserve elephant to rough them bishes up.

Another caraval finished in Ulundi a bit later. Sent him eastward. We’ll meet others sooner or later!

Razed another barb city on the nineteenth turn

ITS LAND! Yup, on my last turn, we meet Mr. Gilglamesh!
Civ4ScreenShot0006.jpg

Also, I got the iron claiming city done. Yeehaw!

Okay, so, stuff is built up. I made a few prickish moves, got our caravals rolling, and met Gilgy. Hehe, Gilgy. So,

We met lots of people: Ramses II, Wang Kon and Ragnar. Wang is the most advanced, and he already has CS. We got Engineering, and I started CS for economy and macemen. I was tempted to go Astronomy instead, but it would take 86 turns! Perhaps after CS.

For my prickish move, I declared on Julius and took Circei easily.

I razed it since it was too close to Samarqand, and had several desert tiles. The army is marching on, and is now prepared to strike again. Our barb defence is somewhat weak - perhaps a keshik or two for the homeland defence would be a good idea.
