Sana04 - RAR Spaceship, trainingish game

And that puts me up, got it

edit: problems downloading the file.
Meanwhile: any tech pointers? Should we do anything on the military side, be it only troop inflation?

Just noticed I could dl the file, should play this sometime today

Pre-Turns: I'm rather new to RaR compared to most here, but haven't we started to build heavy infrastructure early? We still have much land to settle and even more to improve. I'll see to hiring a bunch of workers in my 10's.

T 1.
We get Guilds so I start a 3-turn trek towards those cheap libraries we hear so much good about.
For the record, science output is at 313.

T 2.
Poetry in, research on Drama
Seoul starts the Oracle

T 3.
Drama is in, Get around to literature
Temporary lux upping to 20, I hope.

T 4.
Literature in, start clockworks[2].
Taegu founded on Iron, connecting gold. No wait, it was connected already.
I know it is not on iron, but we can always use another (ICS'd) coastal town out there to grab several fishes. And there are plenty of inland tiles for that city to work on.

T 6.
Clockworks in, start Alchemy[2]
Wonsan starts on the Oracle. We probably will be able to grab metallurgy and Theory of Warfare with it, making use of both camels and H'watcha.

T 7.
Sugar into our borders, lux down to 10.

T 8.
Coffee into our borders, now we begin to talk.
Alchemy in, Engineering up[2].

T 9.
Angkor Wat's mass culture expansions kick in.

T 10.
Engineering in, Gunpowder up[2].

I suggest going for mameluks and H'watchas with the Oracle; we could use a few elephant riders to help clear that jungle, too.
We have libraries now, so I'd spam them around.
So, should we take a military penchant against the Romans and Polynesians with the camels and H'watchas around ? It would be a very great opportunity, right now before they start popping defense 4 units all over.

Edit: I just realized I forgot to pop CA2 up when I was playing, so I might have missed a trade, although I find it unlikely that the comp be ahead of us besides for optionals.

The Save

Preturn.... OK...

Plan on researching Monasticism for the Monastary (its 1 turn now)
The Oracle will finish in 4, so NO luck on going for Mameluks and Hwatch

There is a pioneer on its way South
The Worker South of Seoul is on his way to the chopping workers SW of Seoul.
They should start bringing water to Inchon and friends
The pikeman is on his way to the border. To replace the scouts there.
Get education then start astronomy (for Copes)

If we want to we can pick up a lot of 1 turn optionals.... Monasticism was 1 turn at only 40%

IMHO We are in dire need of some tax increasing stuff, like Toll houses, bazaars, Markets and Guilds.
We are unable to sustain a 80% cap rate at the moment...
Tho 80% is not enough for 1 turn research anymore...

Let seoul finish the Town Clock (2) then start a prebuild for copes IMO

Who be up? I can't play until Sat at the earliest.

Pulling the roster:

Beorn -
namliaM => Just Played
Romeo <===== UP
Disenfranchised -> On deck
Zorn
Sanabas

If disen feels up to it Romeo and Disen could swap... Or we could wait...

Maybe do some discussing on the (near) future... This beeing a training game and all...

My ideas for the near future are on the table on the end of the log... Would have to think about the not so near future...
Where to put the Summer palace for instance??
Where to put the International Port? Is that right? The thing that gives +1food +1shield +1commerce on water tiles...

What should the next builds be? I say some Toll houses and stuff...

The IP is one of the most important builds in RaR. It is a great leader rush target, as most cities that you would want it in cannot get it up by themselves in a reasonable amount of time.
I usually look for a city with at least 10 water tiles and a lot of hills and or mountains. We would then stick the winter palace where we built the IP.
Long term goals, keep building Sci enhancers/ sheild enhancers/ commerce enhancers in that order. I would start preparing either Seoul or Wonson for building Smiths, as it is a killer wonder in RaR. (Needs a bazaar)

IP ... And the candidates are....
Chonju
Suwon
Kaesong
Haeju

But we are not at war... Thus no leaders! (Is it a small wonder?)

Hmz, winter palace.. Then what about the summer?

Smiths pays for Toll houses and Guilds too in RaR right?

We can fix the no war issue very easily.
I will not be able to play until Sat at the earliest.
Summer palace if it is availible would be groovy instead of the more expensive winter palace.
Smiths pays for Tolls, but not guilds. Smiths pays for harbors, ports, airports, bazarrs, toll houses, markets, banks, stock exchanges and more.

It does boost tax improvements but Smiths still doesn't cover it.

Eveythings looking very good. Suprised we haven't upgraded all the workers yet, that'll be one of my priorities.
Builds will be Sheild boosters>>Science Boosters>>Tax boosters though coastal towns will build harb/port/majorports asap.

1)660AD
Hmmm I really prefer the workers to be in stacks, it works out that you get more gain form your improvements that way.

2)670AD
Education, We get a Sci leader! Decide to rush Leonardos workshop in Seoul, set science to Stirrup in [1] so we get 3 techs.

3)680AD
Stirrup>>Astronomy
Leos comes in, get Astronomy and Navigation, start on Map making [2 @ 60%sci]

4)690AD

5)700AD

7)720AD
Physics>>Banking[1 @ 80% Sci]
Sariwon Riots
Romans move 2 more legions to the choke, I start building some Mil (a few Mamlukes out of the 2 core cities, and some Pikemen on the frontier

8)730AD
Banking>>Political Philosophy[2] (it'd be nice to ally the Polynesians to take some pressure off us when the romans attack)

Build Twofish'o by the 2 fish on the west coast and Olivehung by the olive oil.

9)740AD
The legions are building Fortifications, this may have been a false alarm.

10)750AD
Political Philosophy>>Magnetism[2]
I think all the workers have now been upgraded.

And Zorn is up for a fight ... maybe ;)

With mamelukes and H'watchas, there's no way we'll let Rome parade troops for much longer near our borders :D

Research: Magnetism -> absolutsim -> leadership -> mercantilism

Infrastructure: A lot of roading, mining and irrigating. We connected oliveoil, but it`s not enough to lower lux. but we get a few WLTK days.
We are currently building Knights Templar, royal tournament and Kopernikus. I am not so sure about the two unit producing wonders, they might be obsolete soon. On the other hand, they cost as much as 3 currasiers, and I think we will get 3 units out of each at least. And noone else will get KT.
2 Settlers were buildt and are en route to the southern tundra.

Military: I started to build military units. I think as soon as our first couple of Hwachas arrive at the frontier we can attack. There are 3 workers who are laying roads to the border.
2 ships (one roman and one polynesian) are moving along our coast. This made me feel a little uneasy, since all our coastal cities are unguarded. One curassier is in the area to shadow them.
