sand 01: the computer knows best

i just thought of a way to get troops move all units out of a city so the game says you should rtain a unit to defend, this will only work when archers have gone.

the machie god was i feel kind to me this turns blessing me with a worker for each city.
robo17nk.jpg

i decieded to try to trick him :scan: hoping for beeter things the next time
robo20je.jpg

thinking i had got away i learnt you cannot trick him
robo36dp.jpg

heres out settle ment from above
robo43dm.jpg

theres a barb settlement in the bottom right but the ui hides it.(ui being a servant of the the mchine god)
robo54li.jpg

and a not, if you think your turns uneventful then after you play 10 then you can play 20 or even 30. try not to hog the turns just use yuor own judment. if the only thing you did all 10 turns is press enter and select techs and buildings (chosing from recomendation) then you will ofcourse play perhaps upto 30.

on the other hand if your 10B] turns are totally fun warring ones attacking the ai, then obviosly thats enough. just use your own good judgement.

anyway the save, alough at this time i would suggest hooking up the iron just west of our capitals borders. no plans can be really suggested except ways to trip the machine god, which when i tried to failed.

That library cooking in Beijing will speed up our next border expansion there. I'm not certain, but it looks like that iron will be workable when that occurs. We desperately need some axemen and swordmen right now because when the AI is finished settling vacant land, they're going to be looking for space in Chinese territory.

you guys deserve nice cold round just for trying. i'll be suprised if you don't get wiped out. good luck, and i'll be followin'...

and i think tricking the machine god is the only way. maybe moving the units out several turns before unit is built. oh well, you guys are doing well.

Loading up, lets have a peek around the nation. Beijing is definately in need a good:whipped: and Shanghai is at its happiness limit, so I turn off the growth here (dropping 6 turns of the library - still 22 ouch!) until its ready for the :whipped: . Where's that enter key....

Library completes in Beijing, queued worker is now being processed. Would cost 4 pop to :whipped: and have a max 3 allowed, I'll let this stew for a turn or two.

As an aside, problem I can see with workers is building roads and getting resources outside city cross but inside cultural boundary (ie the marble). It will always highlight roads as a preferred build on a square but connecting these single road squares will take time. Oh well, c'est la vie.

505BC - Oracle BIADL

490BC - Worker comes down to 2 pop to :whipped: , which is what we want. Done.

That's more like it.

Now what to do with this worker. A cottage on the flood plain would be nice but as we're building a settler the extra food from the farm is of more immediate benefit.

I can whip the library with 2 pop in Shanghai, so let it grow (unhappy) and :whipped: (the unofficial sponsor of this post).

OK, dillema for he who comes after or even one of the few things we can actually discuss...

Currently we have Monarchy in 12 and worker in Shanghai in 19. By moving the working tiles from the plains to the forest we can chnge this to Monarchy 14 and worker 13, what's more important.

All done (I played 10 turns BTW).

Here's the save

well leave it on manually let the machine god decide.

Lurker's comments:
Trying to trick the machine god, hm? :nono:
Tricking leads to being punished. Being punished leads to being offered to build a settler or the Pyramids in 6 different cities while the mongols attack you. Building a settler or the Pyramics in 6 different cities while being attacked leads to the dead side of the game.

Kinda sad having only 2 cities at this point... but let us keep faith! So what if the computer god believes a scout would be the right thing to build when you've got plenty of land explored already? The computer knows best... The Computer Compels you! Stop worrying and love the computer! :scan: :crazyeye:

Akuma-sama, you should seek some counseling.

Of course, I'm crazy enough to be playing this game.

I'm still considering automating workers for my turns. And at some point we should set one worker (heh, like when we have more than one?) to "build network" so that we can get resources like that iron that aren't in the fat cross of any city hooked up eventually. If we don't automate workers, then the computer will only recommend blue circles that are in the closest city and the worker will never get outside of that fat cross.

i'll hold a competion called:
which era will we die in. classic to modern(pick one)or you'll survive and win.

We're begining to run up against happiness limits in Shanghai so Monarchy will let us start tapping some of that wine. On the other hand, the worker is desperately needed as soon as possible. I vote for emphasizing production until the worker is trained.

no your not holing anyone up i just thought you might of forgotten it was your turn. i also needed to post the roster.

I played 20 turns.

Inherited Turn (400 BC) I send the Warrior in Shanghai to Beijing so that the Archer in Beijing can stake out our next city site near the iron to the SE.

Turn 1-2 (385-370 BC) :hammer2:

Turn 3 (355 BC) Peter asks for Open Borders. I'm too embarrassed about our weak garrisons to allow him to see them and refuse.

Turn 4 (340 BC) Warrior arrives at Beijing. I dispatch the Archer towards the east.

IBT: Barb archer appears from Barb city south of Shanghi. I divert escorting archer to cover the worker outside of Bejing.

Turn 5-6 (325-310 BC) :hammer2:

Turn 7 (295 BC)
Shanghai's borders expand The gold is ours! The barb archer appears to be lost. Or wandering.

IBT: Peter asks us to terminate trades with Hatty, I refuse.

Turn 8 (280 BC) :hammer2:

Turn 9 (265 BC)
Beijing finishes: Settler Worker or Granary? Health isn't an issue, better go for worker(10)

Turn 10 (250 BC) Not much happening. I'm going to go for another 10 turns. This is like watching a train wreck in slow motion. I can't help but watch some more.

Turn 11 (235 BC) I've been playing mumbly peg with that Barb archer for 5 turns now.
Spoiler :
sand6.jpg

He finally appears to be heading toward Rheims. Our archer can peel off now and go to the new city site. Where oh where should I place the new city?
Spoiler :

Turn 12 (220 BC) :hammer2:

IBT: Alexander demands we stop trading with Hatty too. Gee, what has she done to anger all these guys? ChurchLady Voice-->Maybe converted to Hinduism???

Turn 13 (205 BC)
That damned barb archer is back. I moved our archer out of Shanghai to threaten it, and it started playing mumbly peg with me again. Plus, with the city empty and unhappy, we are given the choice to build Walls or a Scout there??? This is painful. I pick Walls.
Guangzhou founded
Spoiler :
sand8.jpg

Meanwhile, we're given the choice between a Scout or Obelisk at Guangzhou. Gee am I missing something about the wondrous capabilities of scouts? I go for the Obelisk. Unhappiness from our last whipping at Beijing is gone. I send the archer there out to play mumbly peg with the barbarian too.

Turn 14 (190 BC) I whip the Worker in Beijing. With the city empty, I might get the chance to build an archer there.
Beijing finishes: Worker Worker or Obelisk? I go for Obelisk.
Tech learned: Monarchy Choices: Code of Laws, Feudalism. We revolt to Hereditary Rule.

Turn 15 (175 BC)
Research begun: Code of Laws
Beijing begins: Obelisk

Turn 16 (160 BC) My nemisis, the barb archer is finally dead, at the hands of a French archer.

Turn 17 (145 BC)
Beijing finishes: Obelisk sigh, Worker or Granary? I give up and go with Granary.

Turn 18-20 (130-100 BC) :hammer2:

Code of Laws in 34 turns. We've got 2 gold, net 0/turn at 90% research.

CAUTION: WORKERS ARE AUTOMATED -- feel free to chase blue circles with them, instead. ;)

There's no way to choose which computer decision was the most bone-headed this time. They all were the most bone-headed.

oK Got it, will play over the weekend
