Any high school Juniors here? How did you guys do?

I got 2010. Which is ok for a first try. I'm aiming to break 2100 next time I take it. I felt disappointed when almost everyone I know broke 2100. Some stoner got 2330. I gotta get high before I take it next time.

For Juniors taking the June SAT this Saturday, good luck!

Yeah, you kids and your silly 2400 point SAT without analogies. Bah!

That was terrible.
But he probably scored well. ;) I would expect most OTers to do well. How is the new test structured?

You whippersnappers with your high score and your lack of analogies. You have it so goo, but all you do is complain, complain, complain! Why, back in my day (nigh on seven years, now) a young man would be thrilled to get a 1430, as I did, but you ingrates are upset with 2010!

Heh, same score as I got back in '82 (660V/770M). :)

I don't even remember how mine broke down, probably more in verbal. What really mattered to me the most was that I beat my older brother by 10 points.

I'm in a pretty competitive school. 500 kids out of I think 27,000 kids who take the Specialized High School Test per year. You wouldn't believe the number of dumb kids in our school... I'm slightly afraid that we are the "best" that NYC has to offer.

Don't get me wrong. When I checked my score this morning, I was thrilled. When I went to school, everybody got the same score. So now I gotta out do them to appeal to colleges I want to goto..

You could do what I did and get in really good with a teacher who will write you an amazing recommendation. That's how I got into Notre Dame. That, or they wanted a token Mormon.

Analogies are incredibly useless, anyway.

I don't care!! I do care that they took them off the test because a bunch of whiny young'uns complained that they were too hard! WAA!!!

What was your average (out of 100)?

What kind of volunteer work, community service, and internships did you have?

93 out of 100 (7th in a class of 107) but with not a lot of particular service - just the 25 hours my school (it was Catholic) required. I did play football for 4 years, and maybe they admired the fact that I stuck with it despite being the most athletically ungifted person ever. No internships, just a series of Mcjobs, but a 1430 on the SAT (out of then 1600) and 35 on the ACT (out of then 36) did help me out a lot. Also, 4 AP classes with at least a 4 (out of 5) on the exam.

The three schools take in more than 500 per year...but I know what you're saying. I went to Brooklyn Technical H.S.....and....it amazed me. It was only surpassed by the ineptness of the staff and administration.

But I'm going off track. So what's considered decent nowadays on the SAT? Where would something like the 80th percentile fall?

Yankee, Bronx Science doesn't.

My math was 96 percentile, my english was only 90. They didn't give one for writing (I did worst in it anyway so it would've been bad.

Here's the copy paste from collegeboard. Btw, what class did you belong too? I'm class of 2007.

Test Date Test Score National Percentile
05/2006 SAT Reasoning Test
Critical Reading 660 90%
Math 720 96%
Writing 630
Multiple Choice 64 (score range: 20-80)
Essay 8 (score range: 2-12)

Check back on June 3 for your full score report, with detailed analysis! If you took the SAT Reasoning Test you'll also be able to view a copy of the actual essay you wrote.
