Saturn Embassy

Would be nice if we could get it in time for helping push out Taj, in case Cav has any tricks up their sleeve. And we clearly can use the GA to save us some anarchy in the near future. If it saves us anarchy, then there's no question in my mind that this is worth it. About how many post-multiplier hammers and commerce would we gain in GA? 800H, 1000 Beakers? More?

A free great person is always worth it :)

And as for a cav trick, that is in the update I am working on. They have gotten 2 GP in the last 2 turns. so expect them to be in a double GA.

They should know that we're in a state of war with Cav, do we want/need to tell them about the forces they have? We haven't really talked much lately, so it might be worth it just to be talking imo. If you want I can come up with something later after you post your update. :)

Yeah last update in game was that they get thier GM soon. (2 turns i think) they have the galley and will sail over to our new city. at that point we need a unit to go from FC to that city so the knight can come back.

basically we get Taj go golden then go double golden with the GM & GS. so we get a solid GA.

The goal is for Kaz to be almost out of the game by the end of the golden age.

Sent this to them- I'll start on a more detailed email once we've got all the info up. :)

Hey Saturn,

Just a quick note to give you an idea of what's going on out in Sancta land, we'll send a more informative update tomorrow. :)

Cav has declared on us, but only sent two muskets and a worker into our land, which we easily slaughtered. They do have a fairly significant stack at Porta Nina, which we are wary of, but we simply arn't seeing much in the way of forces. We're combing the ocean near our lands, but haven't seen anything in the way of a landing party. This is concerning us- Why would they declare if there's actual invasion? This has lead to an ugly thought- declaring on us might be a distraction, with them planning on hitting you, and then using Kaz to prevent us from helping you. What are your thoughts on this possibility? What is your force composition like at the moment?

Our current long term strategy is that we're on a beeline for rifles, which through a GA will allow us to insta-switch to Nationalism, allowing us to draft the heck out of our cities. This should ultimately lead to us crushing Kaz if all goes well.

Hope this helps give you an idea of what's going on,

IamJohn for SANCTA

PS- the war declaration on MS was simply because they had a warrior that was threatening a vital road in neutral territory, nothing bad so far going on there. :)

Response from saturn:

SANCTA,

Thank you for letting us know about the news. We will do our best to defend against any possible attacks.

Right now, we have 1 musketman, 1 longbowman, 1 maceman, and 1 catapult (to be finished 840 AD) in Tethys. We could, potentially, have another musketman in our city if we draft right now. However, we would prefer to wait until we have Rifling so that we can draft a rifleman instead.

In Mimas, we have 1 musketman, 1 immortal, and either 1 maceman OR 1 longbowman (I will have to go back in the game to confirm). The point is, both cities are not heavily defended right now, but we're going to increase the defenses in them ASAP. We have moved a musketman from Titan so that it is now to the "7" position of Mimas. We could move our macemen in Titan as well (and not suffer from unhappiness). We could also draft from Titan this turn (840 AD).

Titan is now producing a pikeman (4 turns) because of the horses that Cav has in Porta Estrelas.

Here is a screenshot link you can see.

Furthermore, here is another screenshot:

What do you think those two workers shown in the screenshot could do? Do you think roading, chopping, or improving is the best idea? Both have full movement points lieft as of this email.

Lastly, our Great Merchant will be created after we hit end turn for 840 AD. Now you have another 8 turns of Golden Age. =)

Sincerely,
DMOC for Team Saturn

PS: Kaz asked us to ally with them, claiming that "we used to be friends!!!" Uh ... okay .... no.

From the picture it doesn't appear they have a mounting force ready to hit Saturn.

I think they're going to try and dogpile us by forcing us to fight multiple fronts to weaken us.

How do I get a hold of a saturn player to get them to log in and accept the cities? I can't gift the units until they are in their territory.

They declined all the cities...said they needed to discuss this option. :(

I am fine with going public!

To my teammates: Many players are going to be upset so please take the high road here and not start a flame fest. I'll pm Rik to make sure this does not occur.

I really would be careful with this. IMO we'll already look like losers for leaving after holding the game up for such a long time (even if it isn't our fault really), there's no need to make things worse, we haven't even posted (iirc) that we're having manning issues.

I propose we send this letter to Saturn, and then do our best to bow out gracefully:

Dear Saturn Allies,

We're sorry to have to send this note - we know it's going to make things hard on you - but we've run out of options.

With Krill gone, Memphus driven out, and General_W more of a General_aWol - we're down to just a collection of lurkers and semi-actives who have time to post some, but not to advance the save. For the sake of keeping things moving, we're going to have to turn the Ninja empire over to the AI.

We'll make an announcement in the UN - but we wanted you to know first.

Before we bow out, we're willing to gift you all of our cities... or as many of them as you'd like. This game is about to go from 3v2 to 3v1 - so you can use every advantage we can give you. Sadly, this is the most we can do for you at this point.

Please let us know what (if anything) you want asap, as Ronnie is the only ninja left who can play... and he's pretty much just going to be fortifying all our units in place, and turning the cities over to the AI governors until we can complete our transfer out totally. We don't want to do this more than a turn or two - as that's probably more unbalancing / less fun than just letting the AI take over.

Again - we apologize for leaving you hanging like this. Please let us know if there's anything we can do to save some of the fun for you and/or give you some final help.

Your friends and allies,
The Ninjas
By the hand of General_aWol

Thoughts?

(P.S. Parts of this letter could even serve as a rough-draft of sorts for an official UN announcement, I think)
I'd also just like to echo Whomp and plead with everyone to be extra-super nice in any posts in the UN. This is already a tragedy. No need to make it worse.

I won't post until this thing is over.

Good to see you again G_W though, glad you are coping with the new job :)

Fine by me of course!
