saved game mega-loading time

Hello All: has anyone experienced huge loading times for saved games since the last patch or hot fix?

My mid-game save as babylon took 19 minutes to load, and a late game save of the same game took 35 minutes.

ATI Athlon 64 X2 5600 Dual Core
2.9 GHz
2GB RAM
WIndows XP SP3
ATI Radeon HD 3600 (512 MB)

I've got the same issue. Massive loading times for my saved games and random long pauses sometimes during turns. Starting new games takes longer than usual too. The game used to load before the initial narration of the Civ's history, now it takes much longer after the narration. I have similar specs as yours, wondering if it's an XP issue.

I discovered that this is a problem with avast anti-virus. Do you use it? It has to be fully disabled to restore normal loading times. I switched to Microsoft Essentials and performance is back to normal.
